A noted umpire once said that Willie Stargell never argued a call and, as a result, when he gave you the look or said something negative, you knew you blew the call.
I just left a video where a young couple went through Aircraft mechanic and air frame school. Like mature adults with not much money, they found a small Cessna 150 that had been damaged and they could buy it cheap and fix it up. So that is what these two mature, responsible, hard working people did. They lived through hard times and tough times in order to complete the task. Then I come to this video of a bunch of spoiled, self-absorbed millionaires acting like little children when they don't get their own way. I think I'll go back to the mature couple with not much money. They are nicer.
Balls and strikes. I remember reading this somewhere, an umpire said to a catcher after he argued a pitch.." It was a strike yesterday and maybe a strike tomorrow, but today it is a ball."
It’s funny seeing one manager argue that the Home Plate umpire should make a check swing call himself and one manager arguing that he should check with another umpire.
lmao my son was watching this and was like its the August September ejections....and im like I dont remember any of these.....then i see Donaldson in blue jay uniform and being a braves fan im like......wait a min....
That DET-NYY game should've been terminated by the umps and adjudicated by the league. Betances is lucky the helmets are so good, or he could've been killed by that beanball.
@carlabpurdy and then people complain when there's not enough discipline in sports, and players are allowed to act like idiots... 🤷♂️ Oh well, I'll side on upholding sportsmanship and rules
If they really want to speed up the game, they should just save time by immediately ejecting the manager, batter, and/or pitcher as soon as they call a balk or check swing.
1:18 would just like to know what the heck that thing was on the back of his head, almost looked like a piece of confetti or swomething like that....LOL
13:05 “It looked intentional but there was no warning given...” no shit Sherlock everyone knew it was intentional, that’s why he threw him. They don’t have to give a warning before throwing them out anyway. I don’t agree with every call an ump makes but I swear it’s become retarded with how everyone has apparently forgotten the damn rules
31:01 2 questions: 1) Does Vic Carapazza actually get aroused when he ejects somebody (he sure seems to love doing it).....2) Why does every Scott Servais ejection video feature him seemingly trying to convince the ump that the fish he caught was THIS big?"
@@Juny5 yes. As an umpire myself you can absolutely see the swing most of the time. And by rule you can appeal a non swing to the 1st or 3rd base umpire. you can’t appeal a swing. But who cares. Don’t swing and there won’t be a problem.
Why isn't the home plate umpire in the last clip in the video (the Bautista ejection) wearing a helmet??? I thought helmets were mandatory for home plate umpires.
I wonder how many managers after a player gets ejected would allow the player to take a swing at the umpire. I mean if anyone deserves to get knocked out cold it's Angel Hernandez
Why does joe west think he can put his hands on managers? That's not allowed for managers to put hands on umpires so why should it be allowed either way?!
Terrible teammate. And a terrible sport. In the context and in that spot of the game you mention, nothing wrong with what Jay did. Don't show up your teammate. You don't like it, ok, but shut the hell up, just get the next dude out, and maybe talk to JJ in the dugout. You're called a professional for a reason, act like a professional. I don't care how good he is or was, I'm glad he never threw for The Indians. I think it's physically impossible for me to like players like him.
Umpires eject people because they argue with them and they don't like being told they're wrong. Have they not noticed that once you eject a player or manager that they will call out all your questionable calls not just the one in that moment
I’m a rugby and Soccer referee (in Italy) and I can say that we are Human... we're wrong like any player... but you have to respect referee/umpire... you can disagree but it is not right that you protest... the referee's decision, right or wrong, must be always respected... without referee you could never play... try to play without an umpire... it’s impossibile! unfortunately sometimes you see outbursts against the referees and it's not nice... it's against the spirit of every sport... believe me... if everyone tried to make the referees in a match they would respect them more... because it is very very difficult... when I was little I stood in the stands shouting at the referee... now I understand that you can not always blame the referee ... who does it (in my humble opinion) is just frustrated... who gets up and runs to the referee and goes on shouting so arrogantly against the referee deserves to be ejected...
Why is baseball the sport where you get an argument and hold up the game on a regular basis. If you hit a batter, the pitcher is gone. no warnings. Arguments and player and or manager are gone, and miss the next game. that would sure speed up the game.
@@brandonmilligan7706 well if you see the way Contreras caught the ball it was. No umpire in a level above JV will give a pitcher that call when the catcher catches the ball that way.

It got the umps to review the call in one of the more recent seasons where they do video review. After the review call one of the managers screamed about the review and got tossed :D

Kind of like when Tim Duncan always raised his hand on a foul call, if he didn't raise his hand, the ref had to think maybe he was wrong.
Angel Hernandez holds the MLB record for getting hit in the chin with the most balls
