    1990 Coleman Roanoke owner here. I use 6x8 black/silver tarps on just the bed ends. These are secured/pinched between the roof bottom and bed end tops when setting up. Keeps the vinyl clean and reflects the suns heat and keeps rain off the bed end seams - the seams get dirty and can channel the rain down to sometimes wet the bed ends. Have been doing this for years and works great!

    Nice system! Fortunately, we've only camped in incessant rain once so far... It was remnants of a hurricane and the camper did not leak at all. 🥳 Tarps sound like a great way to extend the living space a little in inclement weather. We are always nervous to use the awning in too bad of weather.

      @laffilmfest3759  Před 2 lety +1

      Yea......camping in persistent rains and winds is a challenge, pop ups aren't very areodinamic as u know.....sometimes I have pushed the limits a little too far :).......just can't beat the view from inside though :)

    We literally just purchased a brand new popup camper and am looking for anything and everything to take the best care possible. I love the PVC idea. We already made a projector screen frame out of PVC so this concept is definitely not alien to us. Thank you for this!

      I am wondering if a way to cut the tarp for over an air conditioner. We have an AC unit on ours. Then somehow seal where the cut in the tarp is. I'm brainstorming about a solution for that. And thank you so very much!

    • @laffilmfest3759
      @laffilmfest3759  Před 2 lety +1

      Best idea I can think of is to provide room above the A/C for air flow.....problem is with the tarp up higher that invites wind to get under the tarp and away it blows off....to me if there is a real good chance of rain that means the sun will not be shining leading to much cooler temps....tarps put up correctly would still allow windows to be unzipped and airflow.....a nice fan or two will drop the air temp another 10°........might want to give it a try..... :)

    For those with a/c on top - I've seen bed toppers for bed ends but, I've seen where they used pool noodles cut in half long ways n put it where roof meets bed end as water diverted. Saw it here on CZcams. Was for diverting condensation run off of a/c. Could be used for rain run off too!

    Great video and thank you taking the time to cover this topic! I have 1996 Jayco Eagle 12 series that I just picked up. The bunk end vinyls have seen better days and short of replacing the entire canvas, I was in need of a solution to keep water out. This should do it! Do you apply any coatings to your canvas and if so what kind? I don't have holes or tears...the canvas is just old, dry and has some thin spots that I can see light through.

    • @laffilmfest3759
      @laffilmfest3759  Před rokem

      Hello...sorry I missed your comment. Yes I do spray a water repellent on the canvas. I search the product I used but don't see it on line. I thought the name was grainger but I don't see it. I follow a pop up camper face book group. I see a product 303 is recommended a lot but I have never used it. If u join the pop up camper group folks will be glad to help out...great group! In an older pop up I also seam seal the seams....then, in any bad weather conditions I tarp up...only makes good sense....thanks for dropping by!
