When determining what cities are good for your personality, life situation, and personal preferences, there are many factors to consider including climate, cost of living, community, job opportunities, population makeup, activities, and things to do.
For a lot of people moving out here from California to Texas is a bit of a shock. The heat is brutal. We're into like too much strait of it being over 100-degree weather. It's humid. But there is a way to make the transition to Texas a little smoother. So you get a little bit more of a California vibe without the California price tag. And I'm talking about moving to Lakeway.
Lakeway is a suburb of Austin and it's about 25 miles west. It's a really unique area that has a lot to offer homeowners and a lot of people who reach out to me about moving to Austin ask me about Lakeway. So we're going to get right into the pros and cons of living in Lakeway. So you know what it's all about.

Just consider this piece of advice from someone that grew up out here on Lake Travis. Lakeway was originally a community for retired Air Force Colonels and Generals that liked to play golf and tennis. There are some strange rules that go with building in Lakeway and they are adamant about them. Do your homework. And always remember that there is a right way, a wrong way AND a Lakeway. If you have to ask the price, you cannot afford it. Best of luck from Spicewood... we CAN park our boat in the driveway.

I'm not sure why this randomly popped into my feed, but I had to watch since my family moved into Lakeway in April of 1982. I grew up there. My mother was a dentist out there for 30 years. I can't even recognize most of what I see out there nowadays. I remember when it was a HUGE news story that we were getting a stoplight by the gas station at Lohmans and Lakeway Boulevard.

Why is the focus getting people from California to want to move here? They can stay there, move to PA or Oregon or something; stay the heck out of Texas.
