Scientists Issue Warning About Toxic Products Harming You

Is your dental floss safe. What about your non stick frying pans. How about your water repellent jacket or your rugs and carpets or even your nail polish. Scientists now say there are hundreds of popular consumer products we use everyday that contain PFAS. PFAS is a Forever Chemical basically found everywhere. Scientists admit there are a lot of unknowns about this chemical substance and they are now actively researching these dangerous chemicals. The scientists say we all have trace levels of PFAS in our blood and these toxic forever chemicals have been causing things like birth defects and neurological issues as well as developmental effects. Even animals that are in contact with PFAS have levels of these toxins in their blood. Scientists are also very concerned these days about the chemical 6PPD which is found in all the new tires we put on our cars and trucks. This chemical is used throughout the tire industry to maintain the life of the tires. New studies say this 6PPD chemical has been killing wildlife due to the toxicity after the chemical decomposes. This is reporter David Nazar and we are investigating these forever chemicals. I speak with a leading scientist with the State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control to find out more about this issue and also to find out what DTSC is doing to notify the public about this chemical crisis.
