What Katie is concerned about is making health insurance companies go AWAY and have single payer for everyone in the country. So no. This whole line of questioning was attacking insurance companies by attacking PBMs. Sure, some PBMs accomplish nothing in negotiating a lower price for the consumer. But some do. Katie Porter just believes that only the federal government should have any right to negotiate price and only the federal government has the power to do this. That is why no republican has signed on to even one of her bills. They are on to her.

Anyone can price shop if they have cash. Get your doctor to write the prescription. Then get cash. Then start calling pharmacies and tell them you have a script, what is the best "cash price" for the drugs? Every consumer in the country has the power to do this but this is NOT Katie Porter's concern. Katie doesn't think anyone should have to pay anything out of their own pocket for prescriptions! Only the government should pay. That was the whole point of the narrative of her questions.

Hey so google the name of the inhaler and “pap” so like “symbicort pap”. You’ll have to fill out a butt load of paperwork if you qualify but maybe you can get it for free

55 was retirement age in 80. Then 57? 60? 62? Now its 65 i think. Yet to get full SS you have to work till 70. They are just hoping people die to avoid paying out. Will be 61 in oct. 65 to be getting medicare. I will get a whole 1340 at 65. I would not be able to even pay for a studio apt in one of Floridas cheapest town. Daytona. In 2028 i would pay 1400 for rent ,phone, car ins. That leaves me with nothing. Yet it is a trickey one. You can retire and still work part time to a certain point. So do i take 1200 at 62. With ability to make 750 800 a month. That means i could work 20 hrs a week and not work 40 hrs to make a 75 more a week? I am not blaming anyone. I have been irresponsable for 40 years. The thing is lots of people have been never given a chance and they are ones that i feel need to be helped

What a STUPID QUESTION!! Different insurance policies pay for different things!!
Discount policies pay for as little as possible- expensive policies pay better.
The pharmacy itself has little control- its the MANUFACTURER

I'm sure it costs the pharmaceutical company 30 dollars a pill to make my epilepsy medication. 🤦‍♂️

Ever notice everyone in the medical industry is well paid. It's about money and you gobbled down their bs.
I worked inventory and have actually scanned the big manufacturing for caremark. The $30 pill I take costs a bit over 14 cents at cost. What do I know though I just used to be in the facility and having to make sure everything is input correctly in the systems.

Pharm benifit managers are a godsend. I can use these coupons and get my prescriptions for one sixth the cost of medicaid and one six hundredth the cost of the big pharm suggested retail price. Yeah it would be great if my insurance just did its job and got me this deal but once government gets involved the people get screwed.
