As an avid fishkeeper and breeder (I have 11 tanks, breed 4 types of fish and work at an exotic fish store), this video has SO many red flags that I’d like to share for anyone inspired to set up a fish tank by this video. First of all that water is so unsafe and you need a dechlorinator Second off, without a filter all those fish were going to die. Goldfish need at least 20 gallons for the first fish and 10 gallons for every additional, but since those are comets (pond goldfish), they will require at least 30 gallons each once they’re grown, so I would recommend making that known before you give young viewers ideas like this. Goldfish are notoriously messy fish, and need strong filtration, I would recommend something hardy like danios or rosy red minnows. Please do your research before purchasing living beings for views without doing any prior research. Best of luck!
Edit: for those attacking me for not watching the whole video and that it’s ‘just feeder fish’. First of all, there’s no need to use the internet as a format to come after people. Second off, even if he returned the fish they were still harmed by the time they spent in there, and this video also gives impressional viewers ideas without providing them with any information. Call me a nerd all you want but that doesn’t change the fact that even feeder fish should not be used for views. And for those reminding me that he said it wasn’t permanent, I was giving him other alternatives for if he did get a filter and wanted to keep fish in the future. Also, just because he returned them doesn’t mean he didn’t stress them out and permanently damaged them (fish can develop fatal illnesses from stress). So thank you for your input, but please do not defend someone who does not provide any information on living beings that they are using for content.
Edit edit: I’m cackling at all the death threats and people who don’t believe me, sad to see so many people can’t see the difference between educating and bullying. But I guess that’s the internet for ya!

Those poor fish! Please do research on any fish before You buy them. You have to make sure there are no harmful chemicals like chlorine in your water or they will die. The reason many of the fish died was due to shock and improper water conditions. If you plan to keep this awhile please read up on the nitrogen cycle or talk to an actual fish expert. I’d hate for you to lose more. those lights can also be stressful to those little guys. hope this helps.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!! I love my fish, and my first fish was a goldfish, which started out small and grew to about maybe 6 inches before it died from complications, so ik they can be huge and that "tank" that they have isn't nearly big enough, and I didn't see them use an ounce of conditioner. At least they plan on putting them in a different tank, but they grow fast, and with 50... Thats gonna be a big tank.

    1. Water isn’t dechlorinated! The fish will die a slow painful death because of this.
    2. You didn’t properly acclimate the fish to the glass (this sounds so weird saying glass 😂). Mixing the ammonia filled Walmart water with your water does not help much.
    3. Proper filtration is required.
    4. A heater is highly recommended.
    5. Rinsing gravel and other decor is recommended.
    6. Waiting at LEAST a week for beneficial bacteria to grow is mandatory for the fish’s survival.
Bottom line. Please do not try and “save” any more fish.
EDIT: I understand this is just temporary and for fun, but just a little info 👍

You only need a filter in some situations to prevent waste buildup. With 50 goldfish in a tall tank, I would for sure get some filtration mediums in there.
Most freshwater fish don't need oxygenated water, and overall the habitat they had built was better then walmarts.
      Things I would do differently:
Get some freshwater scum feeders like shrimp, put some real plants in there, use filtered water, and less gravel (just enough to give the plants a place to hold firm, and for some habitation props). But that's just me. They got advice on care from an expert so I wouldn't worry to much about the nonexistent fish abuse they are apparently partaking in.

UPVOTE THIS PLEASE. Don't post videos that encourage children to have pets before educating themselves on proper care. You literally washed that cup out with paper towels in a bathroom, it should be STERILE if you want the fish to be safe. And you need a filter to circulate OXYGEN into the water so the fish can BREATHE. Plus if you over populate a tank then the fish' quality of life is poor. There should only be a few fish per 10 gallons. Also i didn't see you use water conditioner before putting them inside the tank, TAP WATER IS TOXIC TO FISH. Also you need to allow the bag to float in the tank for some time before introducing the fish into the tank. I hope you learn your lesson and feel sympathy for the fish.
Edit: Even after returning the fish they probably had a very short life span due to the toxic tap water they were introduced to :( They just took the fish on a deadly, horrible, field trip.
Sub to PewDiePie, he has a brain.
EDIT: FOR EVERYONE SAYING IT WAS A TEMPORARY HOME keep in mind that they will have lasting damage from the treatment of the whole process and their overall quality of life will be diminished. Understand that just because something lives does not mean it isn't negatively affected. These are living creatures whose quality of life isn't just dependent on survival alone.

My 10 gallon platys tank is lighted by 2 aqua lights and is in the window to be lighted about 9 hrs a day and it gets extra warmth from that. the platys fish is an omnivore and there's probly about 50 in there with a range from born yesterday and last week to about 2-3 years old
Tanks need the following first consideration for what you want to keep 2nd filtration 3rd flow and lastly lighting
My favorite tank I own is a 10gallon saltwater reef tank with tons of inverts and a couple fish and a handful of coral
I have about 12 tanks differing sizes and a couple turtle tanks and indoor aquaculture indoor garden but simply put lighting will only kill fish if it causes acute stress like leaving a spot light on them all day and night that would be extremely stressful
If you like you can look at my platys fish I have 3 platys fish tank and one of them is about 1 gallon the other two are 10 gallons and are part of a line breeding series I have running for about 3 yrs. check it out to just tell you ahead of time all tanks are tested and maintained the water quality is most important and all tanks run smoothly and all critters well fed

Next time you should cycle your fish tank. Cycling is the process of growing beneficial bacteria in a aquatic ecosystem to decompose harmful chemicals such as ammonia in the water. Without this step any fish will not live there full life span. Gold fish have a typical life span of 15-20 years if treated properly. These fish should of been put in a cycled tank. I wonder what happened to them after words. May God be with them.
Edit: realizing that they did try to help these fish. Just wish they did their research 🙁

That tank can't be too big. No more than like 10, to be honest. And common goldfish, which it looks like you got, need at least 30 for the first 10 for each addition, EXTREME minimum. Best to go by 20 per fish :v. Goldfish grow very big, like 10 to 12 inches each. They both mean you need over 500 gallons.
And GRAVEL? Goldfish sift through their substrate to look for food, and while doing this they will get gravel lodged in their throat. Then they suffocate and die.
Also goldfish try to eat plants, whether live or fake. Live plants can't hurt 'em, but fake plants can fray their fins and or mouth and if they do end up eating them.
Also, tap water is deadly so use dechlorinator. Another thing about tap water is it has not been cycled, ECT been through the ammonia cycle. That means ammonia will be really plentiful BUT nitrates will be non existent. Which is toxic.
I know you said you needed a filter, and you do! Get one that pumps at least 3× as much water as your tank contains per hour. For example, I have three goldfish in a 55 so 55×3 is 165 gallons per hour. And no, don't get a heater unless you live in a really cold enviornment.
And I know you just threw them in an adoption pet store, but don't get them again with this care. Why would you spend your money to just give them to a petstore where some kid will get them to keep in a tiny bowl?

If anyone is watching this and thinks it's a good idea to replicate please don't. I'm guessing that glass is about 20-30gl which is far too little for 50 fishes. Specially goldfish; they can grow up to be about 12in. They need airstones, strong filters and frequent water changes. They produce so much ammonia that you can't keep them with other fish. They also must be kept in groups (at least pairs). I wouldn't recommend anything less than 50gl per goldfish. They are not beginner fish.

Everything they eat passes through their system in a few minutes and they produce a huge amount of ammonia in their urine. To keep so many in a small aquarium or to keep one in a fish bowl (which so never be used for any fish anyway) is to stunt their growth and cause enlarged organs. Also the ammonia they produce can kill them slowly.

I imagine you are in middle school or high school and, thus, are ignorant to the fact that water has dissolved oxygen into it. Fish use this oxygen content to breathe. Their gills filter oxygen from the water the same way our lungs filer oxygen from the air. Ergo when the oxygen content proves to be too low the fish "suffocate." Which, by the way, was the only statement that is not already axiomatically correct that you stated in your comment, that fish cannot drown.

WTF, isnt there chloride in the water? To make an working habitat for fish, microorganisms are nessessary, which you also didn´t bother about. there are chemicals and various metalls in the water, which need to set or be filtered out first. you didn´t even look up a tutorial on making a fish tank or something. everywhere you could possibly look it says that the water needs to sit at least 24 hours with the microorganisms in it, so it isn´t harmful for fish. The fish in the beginning simply could have just died from a shok of different pH-Levels of the water(which you also seemingly didn´t bother about) or just, as I said, rust in the Water or something. Fish are animals. And, in contrast to most beliefs, aren,t as easy to keep as it looks like, probably harder than air-breathing pets. Please dont buy animals out of impulse, do research first.

Alexander Jensen hey idiot it can still die if it is in there temporarily, that’s the same logic as me saying oh it’s fine to live in a gas chamber because it temporary. It burns their gills and kills the bacteria that helps the water switch nitrite and ammonia to nitrate. You arrogant swine, absolute bozo. It isn’t showing proper steps to care for fish so kids that watch these videos are going to take a shitty little bowl, no heater, no filter and no conditioner and kill a comet goldfish. If it beats the odds than it will jump out because I can guarantee that they won’t do proper water changes and if the fish does not jump it will grow to a foot long and get stuck in the bowl or neglected

GOLDFISH FACS YOU NEED TO KNOW. ok so a lot of people don't know this, and in my opinion people can be pretty... I don't want to say the word because it would be not kind but, (not the smartest decision by people who can learn more stuff about goldfish) ok back to the story. so there is actually a thing you can do to save them when people say there is nothing you can do. you've probably had a goldfish that died the next day. the reason being is because they are in the wrong type of tank. a goldfish can actually live for about 12 years, but they're are put in a tank with tap water or in a tank that has chlorine . it does not matter if it is the wright temperature, the fish will still die. Also you need to be able to clean out the tank because they are just living in they're own feces witch will make them die. goldfish tank takes about a month to prepare. they have to have fresh river water. with algae on rocks that they can snack on and it is a crucial part of they're survival. plus they do need a filter! I did not say all the things you need but just look it up! also there is not really a better version of goldfish, well there are more sturdy ones but the basic 50c ones can still live for 12 yeas with the write care

For those curious to why the fish weren't placed into the tank right away: doing so will kill them because of shock. They dont do very good transitioning to new water, so they place the bag at the top first and wait for them to get used to it.
