    [UPDATE]
For couple of days tested s10 exynos (last week), problem is combination of network issues (4G vs 3G and WiFi on/off), standby problems, and bigger drain with demanding apps (not only games). Don't think this can be fixed enough with whatever samsung is doing. Hopefully i could give it back. Simply exynos version appears like worse twin in word s10 family, it should be cheaper.

I've a question for the standby test.
I suppose the exynos variant isn't connected to the provider's IMS? While the Snapdragon will be connected to the IMS.
The difference here is that when a phone isn't connected to the IMS, it cannot run voice calls via WiFi or LTE, so the phone is always on CSFB standby, in other words it's pinging the 3G or 2G network as well as the 4G network which it's running on by default, this can a significant impact on battery life.
A way to make it fair is disable 4G and Wifi calling on both devices.

A Snapdragon Galaxy, will have IMS support for all US carriers in it's firmware, while I doubt that a European S10 will have the IMS settings for American carriers.

To save you time: The difference is CLEARLY only in the standby time, whereas the Exynos consumes double the power of the snapdragon (8% vs 16% loss). Assuming that the phones are setted exactly in the same way, a better way to conduct the test would be to simulate the screen on/screen off continously so that we can really simulate the everyday usage. I'm very curious to know if the gap increases, remains the same, diminishes or even the trend is inverted if you don't make it standby for 16 hours in a row. I understand it's a more tough test to make. Thank you for your time and efforts, this is of course still incredibly useful data!

Quite in line with what I experience on the Exynos variant. I notice it drops battery in standby quite fast. But looking at the test, it appears that Snapdragon only wins the most significantly in standby, so I'm not too concerned for the Exynos. Hope this can be fixed in a software update!

@@leandsz693 In the CPU department Exynos really isn't bad, in fact it's greater than what most people make of it. However, in the GPU department things can be better, it's just a matter that the Adreno GPU is way overpowered, which really overshadows the Mali on Exynos. Overall I'm happy of my Exynos S10's performance, but I feel like they can improve the experience by optimizing its battery. Cheers for the reply mate!

  • @richardbroder

The biggest diference was not during on-screen time, but during standby. It seems the Exynos version on the early days (when this video was shot) had a firmware issue that resulted in such high standby usage, this issue didn't affect the Snapdragon variants. I'm actually surprised by seeing a S10+ (with larger battery) use 17% for 16hrs of standby, that's over 1%/hour. As contrast, currently, my Exynos S10 (non-plus) drains only 5% in 10hrs of Standby (that's 0,5%/hr). I do remember that my S10 did have high battery usage in standby when I initially got it, but I fixed the problem by using the Medium Power setting (which forces reduced background usage) and, by disabling the "limit CPU to 70%" feature, I actually got a significant increase in battery life without having to deal with any sort of slowdown. It seems that this problem has since been fixed even for those using regular power settings, and the Exynos no longer has standby battery drain issues.

@@iprobablydontlikeyou6562 you are so wrong. There is a large difference in the way these two phones perform specially in gaming. S10 exynos can't rung pubg smoothly at 60 fps and constantly drops frame but snapdragon consistently pushes out 60 fps on pubg. It's not an optimisation problem but a throttling issue which Samsung choose to ignore. Exynos is literally garbage when compared to snapdragon. (Edit: This test needs to be repeated, because I think they'd now be even)
So they're super even with everything, except Snappy is twice as good when the screen is off.
Something we would have otherwise all missed, because I don't think many people on youtube test that, even though it's on standby the vast majority of the time. Awesome stuff.
Although 17% over 16 hours... meh. About 1% per hour. Not bad.
Edit: Plus they came out with an update that gives it at least an extra hour battery, which seems to be to do with standby.
And since the last test killed the Exynos with an hour of gameplay (both losing about the same amount of battery), if we add that hour back to the Exynos due to the update, they would be perfectly even... right?
So it seems, Snappy performs better, but the battery is the same (for people who have updated).
Would be cool to see this test done again.
