Mesut Ozil was fantastic, but there's obviously only so much one man can do. But there's been more and more of these performances recently from him, I've been extremely happy with what Emery's getting out of him now. He needs to be a central part of our team next season, thankfully that stretch of disciplining or disagreeing or whatever it was with Emery's out of the way lol
Why is everyone dissing on elneny? Guen was horrendous yesterday. He didn't make good runs, he leaves his position too much and he is not ready for a high tempo game. There were too many times yesterday that guen slowed down the game. He doesn't think ahead before he gets the ball. Wanting it and wanting to create with the ball means needing to think about a few steps before getting the ball.
Mavropanos and Mustafi, not to mention Jenkinson, weren't up for the game. Mustafi... The amount of mistakes this defender has cost us is amazing. Why he is still playing I'm not too sure but there weren't any form of communication for the first and especially the second goal.
Unai has a lot of work with the defence and transitioning with the defensive players because at these rare, away from home? We are gonna go out of the top four.

Our problem was mustafi and gendouzi. Nobody seems to call out gendouzi cos he is a kid, nobody cared about iwobis feelings when people were saying he isn't good enough. Call it as it is.

Guendouzi completely ruins the team when he is on the pitch. He is far from first team level. Yesterday Guendouzi lost every duel, created 0 chances, was constantly out of position, never won the ball back, couldn’t play a 1 or 2 touch pass and slowed every attack down by taking too many touches. record without Guendouzi is on par with Liverpool and City, Emery playing Guendouzi might cost us Champions League football.
Harsh when played like Mustafi and Elneny are older and putting in rubbish performances.

Elneny can actually go forward must be a mental thing,like struggleing to adapt to such a high level of pressure,if you remember some of his first games we could even see him taking shots and he scored a great goal against one of the top teams i cant remember which one at the moment but he was definitely different
as for guendouzi he reminds me a bit of verratti with the holding the ball too much thing and looking for fouls except that verratti has exceptional ball control and technique so you can find him with his back turned and 4 guys chasing him but he'd do some trick and pass them 4 and pass the ball like nothing happened

Everybody blaming Elneny and Gundouzi, maybe Emery asked them not to go forward, to give more cover for the center backs, we don't know, but I know for a fact he didn't tell Mustafi to defend like that.
that cant be, if u watched the match did you not see how our backline was trying to make plays and bypassed our midfield as much as they could ? and the push forward was always down the left wing. our midfield not only got ignored by palace but also our own team at times.

Got to say DT was correct with the preview line up - it made no sense for Emery to go 5 at the back. Damage limitation said put Mustaphi at right back. To put Jenkinson at RB vs one of the best wingers in the prem was utter stupidity. Don’t forget that Jenkinson was 100% to blame for the first goal - the rest of that back line held for Benteke to be off side. He didn’t.
