CELLS~CELLS~CELLS~ALCOHOL INK, WAX, SHELLAC BURN ON A TILE

Making cells in art is one of nature's clever ways of reminding us about our true nature!
Cells and fractals surround us in each and every living thing. The ability to recreate them is so much of a joy for me...I am overwhelmed in a childlike awe every time I do one.
I am hooked for a bit...

You can play along!
Wax can be beeswax or crayons! (If using crayons be sure to have a very well ventilated space, the paraffin is toxic)
If using beeswax, you can color it with oil paint!
Shellac can be found at your local hardware store and colored with alcohol ink or a sharpie!!
(if coloring your shellac with a sharpie, remove the nib and center then place in your container with clear shellac: let stand for a day)

When you say “tile,” what kind of tile?

Have you also used torches? The culinary small one has a thin flame for different cells from what the large torch flames make.

Yes! Using the torch will give you small cells using the heat gun gives you the larger cells I love using them both!

What kind of ink, alcohol ink or India ink

These were jacquards alcohol inks mixed with clear shellac 🤗
