    Fantastic effect Annemarie. Love your playfulness and experimentation. Really liking the encaustic process; so many possibilities with this. I'm really a resin person myself but so love to watch your videos. I don't do acrylic pours but you inspire me to explore some of your techniques with resin and stretch boundaries. Your personality is infectious, thank you for being so generous with your time and talent.

    Hello, I love your work, your so helpful Annemarie, I am wondering if you can help me with the shellac, I have been struggling to get the lovely cells but with no luck, can you advise on the mixture with the flakes are you mixing it with alcohol of any particular percentage? Is there a period of time you leave the wax before you apply the shellac? Would much appreciate any help.

    • @annemarieridderhof
      @annemarieridderhof  Před 6 lety

      Just use good alcohol 91 / 96 % make a little...it doesn`t keep.
      Just keep adding flakes untill its like cream. When using the torch don`t get too close if your not moving the torch.

    Annemarie, I have enjoyed many of your videos. I am a senior - new to painting so forgive my ignorance of "workable" or feasibility of using techniques I have thought of to use. Using wax is a new concept to me but I have used hardware 100% acrylic caulking on a canvas - using varying thicknesses and shapes- after drying for 2 days, I then did a pour. It turned out beautifully but I really would like your thoughts on the life of the piece or if you think it will fall apart or break down 5 years or more from now. I see no changes after 3 months.

  • @kerravonsen2810
    @kerravonsen2810 Před 6 lety +1

    One question: is this shellac technique limited to encaustic art, or would it work on other surfaces, like plain wood? I mean, is there something about the shellac + wax + heat that makes this effect, or would it work with just shellac + heat?
    Watching you do this encaustic art, made me realise it is a "fluid art" where you can turn the fluidity of your "paint" on and off by melting it and letting it cool, and then doing it again. Like so many fluid arts, I expect one has to be careful not to turn the colours muddy by overworking it.
    My list of "fluid arts" is getting longer and longer!
    * acrylic pouring
    * resin pouring
    * alcohol ink
    * water marbling
    * encaustic painting
    As for whether or not these are "cells", well, they're a bit more like lacing, don't you think?

    • @annemarieridderhof
      @annemarieridderhof  Před 6 lety

      no...oil pastels I don`t know where you live so I don`t know how expensive shellac is.
