I really enjoyed your demo of this art form. I’ve been curious about it. I don’t think it’s for me, but I can see where it would be fun to do. Thank you so much for showing us a lot of ways to express ourselves, artistically.

Fantastic effect Annemarie. Love your playfulness and experimentation. Really liking the encaustic process; so many possibilities with this. I'm really a resin person myself but so love to watch your videos. I don't do acrylic pours but you inspire me to explore some of your techniques with resin and stretch boundaries. Your personality is infectious, thank you for being so generous with your time and talent.
You`re welcome Sue..♥♥♥
Yes to all. Yay for Annemarie's creative and adventurous self. Thanks to her as always. I'm hooked!
I love the effect. Something to play with. I definitely want to try this.

That is a fabulous effect! The final picture is amazing. Beautiful. Going to get my shellac flakes ordered!
♥♥♥ Thank you Gail ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
I'd like to see how I can use shellac over a pour. I'm imagining a jewel-like/icon effect. Maybe in a gilded frame. But things don't always match what's in the head!
This was fun watching you play with the painting. Thank you!
Thank you ♥♥♥♥♥
I had some important work but couldn’t take my eyes off from this video, great talent. You are my current favorite now after #charmingcolours, god bless.

Hello there! I only know the shelllac for nails. Is it possible to use that for the encaustic paintings?
I love it!, thank you for always sharing!
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Yin Yang of Zen, fijn om je zo bezig te zien. En ons te stimuleren en te laten zien wat er mogelijk is. 🌹❤️
graag gedaan ♥♥♥
Very cool. Thank you for sharing!
Well, the flower didn't thrill me until you started the shellacking. Then I was wondering where that would take us. When you started the background I became really excited. I enjoyed that the most.
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Wow Annemarie that looks like a raku piece having done the ‘celling’ with shellac and torch.luv that affect.very pretty and very labour intensive. Thnx for sharing your shellac recipe too! Hugs
you`re welcome ...♥♥♥♥
looks like Beautful Cells to me !! I LOVE THIS WOW!!!!
you will make one like it soon...♥♥♥
I always enjoy watching you create your art😍😍
Thank you so much 😀
This is beautiful. Thought for sure you were going to mess it up by adding the shelac everywhere, but it got better and better. WOW!
Thank you Yeshua...♥♥♥

Beautiful concept I never saw done before
♥♥♥
I really like this.
Thank you ♥♥♥
Hello, I love your work, your so helpful Annemarie, I am wondering if you can help me with the shellac, I have been struggling to get the lovely cells but with no luck, can you advise on the mixture with the flakes are you mixing it with alcohol of any particular percentage? Is there a period of time you leave the wax before you apply the shellac? Would much appreciate any help.
Just use good alcohol 91 / 96 % make a little...it doesn`t keep.
Just keep adding flakes untill its like cream. When using the torch don`t get too close if your not moving the torch.
Beautiful Annemarie love your way you do it 🥰
Thank you ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Thank you for sharing. This looks great.
♥♥♥
Thanks for the fun and making me laugh.
♥♥♥
It is good. Bravo
Can you please tell me the number of the video with your recipe for homemade shellac??? I tried finding it with no luck. Thank you!!
??? There is no video...it`s alcohol or ethanol and shellac leaves...that`s it....it`s not a magical potion....easy as can be.
♥ Thank you ♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Another incredible technique I never new existed. Beautiful cells you created with your homemade shellac. Very cool results. I laughed hearing that someone said these were not cells. I think these cells are reminiscent of honeycomb, and what is honeycomb if not a cluster of gorgeous cells?! 🐝
I agree...LOL.... ♥♥♥
I much prefer the quiet instead of music. Someday I want to give this a try. Love it!
♥♥♥ Thank you Linda ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Bonjour.. je cherche votre video pour la fabrication gomme laque… d’avance merci
Annemarie, I have enjoyed many of your videos. I am a senior - new to painting so forgive my ignorance of "workable" or feasibility of using techniques I have thought of to use. Using wax is a new concept to me but I have used hardware 100% acrylic caulking on a canvas - using varying thicknesses and shapes- after drying for 2 days, I then did a pour. It turned out beautifully but I really would like your thoughts on the life of the piece or if you think it will fall apart or break down 5 years or more from now. I see no changes after 3 months.
If you are aiming for selling I would change to art paint... ( artist quality ) orther than that you can use anything you want.
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
hola! disculpas por mi curiosidad. tu colocas una base de encaustica sobre el soporte y luego trabajas directamente con goma laca teñida en tintas? Que contiene ese aparato , que es como un aerosol? Gracias!!😊😊
♥♥♥
Really cool look though, I like it alot☕️🌸
♥♥♥ Thank you Mary Lou ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Wow! Amazing😍 can you do more videos about it.
Maybe in a few weeks...♥♥♥
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
I like it!
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Hi Annemarie, can. I put encaustic over cold wax please? And do I need to do anything to prepare or just go ahead knowing the cold wax will probably become molten to some extent .. experiement? thanks and I love your work. Wendy from Tasmania
I think you have to explain it a little better...like over a candle?
I think it turned out pretty well.
♥♥♥ Thank you Cindi ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
This looks kind of cool. I wouldn’t throw it away if I were you.
♥♥♥ Thank you Orene ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Lovely
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
I like it! I agree I really like the leaves! Now do you put more clear beeswax on top of that or leave as it is? Might be interesting to see what another layer of wax would do.
You could do that but it fades the shellac.
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
*m watching with my mouth WIDE OPEN WOWWWW ANNEMARIE!!!!!!!! OMGOODNESS
♥♥♥
Love it
♥♥♥ Thank ♥ You ♥♥♥
What is the name of the bigger touch . It small compared most larger ones. Thanks
I am using a paint stripper and 2 crème brûlée burners.❤
@@annemarieridderhof what is the name of your shellac that you use.
Would the shellac behave in this way over straight acrylic paint? Hmmm...it looks like batik! Lovely effect in the end.
Toen je de achtergrond met shellac bewerkte ging het leven!
Hey, watching an older video reminded me of a question I've been wanting to ask: What is the black surface on your table?
I dunno just a table...plastic something?♥♥♥
Look like CELLS to me‼️ I love watching with you to “see what happens”
♥♥♥ Thank you Wanda ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Yes!
Hi Annemarie, thanks for the video, it's so helpful... would you be so kind to tell me the name of the shellac you use? I wanna buy one but cannot find it using just shellac....
This is the purest form....shellac chips. You need to put them in alcohol and colour them your self...there is only one type.
czcams.com/video/0tsMP6-6u18/video.html
Are the paste
s oil?
this is Encaustic.... google and you will find all the info you need.
This is so Stunning to see you worl the WAX
♥♥♥
tHIS is my new FUN i Love it!! WOWSA!!!!!! :)
♥♥♥
What kind of paint did you put on?
Encaustic = wax
Also I thought that was interesting you using a straw like pour paint out acrylic ink
♥♥♥
What do you think would happen if encaustic were layered on top of shellac? Do you think the cells would change?
Oh you can do that...layer over layer if you work with transparent layers...♥♥♥ Thank you for watching ♥♥♥
Sorry. I meant, Do you think the shapes of the cells would change with more heat and another layer of encaustic medium.
Thanks for showing this process. Great effects. I have seen beautiful applications of this process and have tried it myself, but the smell of the wax unfortunately does not agree with me.
Yes it does smell...♥
♥♥♥ Thank you Joann ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
isnt torch and shelac famable dangerous
I take it you were using oil pastels. Regular pastels won't work with wax. I guess I would have put more layers of wax over the flower. Wax gives it an ethereal look. I love doing encaustic too, but I'm sticking to the pouring for a while.
no coloured wax
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Cool! You probably already know this but you can also tint your shellac (I use clear) with india ink. Super fun! I know you mentioned pastels but what about those crayon looking things? What were they?
the crayon things are coloured wax sticks.
♥♥♥ Thank you Ellen ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Ellen Stoune what clear shellac do you use?
One question: is this shellac technique limited to encaustic art, or would it work on other surfaces, like plain wood? I mean, is there something about the shellac + wax + heat that makes this effect, or would it work with just shellac + heat?
Watching you do this encaustic art, made me realise it is a "fluid art" where you can turn the fluidity of your "paint" on and off by melting it and letting it cool, and then doing it again. Like so many fluid arts, I expect one has to be careful not to turn the colours muddy by overworking it.
My list of "fluid arts" is getting longer and longer!
* acrylic pouring
* resin pouring
* alcohol ink
* water marbling
* encaustic painting
As for whether or not these are "cells", well, they're a bit more like lacing, don't you think?
I have heard it can be done over an acrylic painting I will try that soon...yes I think overworking it will turn it muddy.
♥♥♥ Thank you ♥♥♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Thank you! I may see if I can dig out my shellac flakes... I know I put them somewhere...
I really like it! What would you sell it for? Can it be shipped to the U.S.?
Can`t sell it... I used wax that didn`t have enough damar in it...it`s too soft.
♥♥♥
I'm getting caught up on your videos today 😁💗💖😘! They're all great
Thank you Theresa !!
♥♥♥♥♥♥
Wonderful. I love it!!! Are those normal wax crayons you use for the colour? Is there a cheap way of buying shellac. Is it paint stripper? Many thanks
no...oil pastels I don`t know where you live so I don`t know how expensive shellac is. Shellac is not paint stripper...they are originally flakes...Shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac bug on trees in the forests of India and Thailand. It is processed and sold as dry flakes and dissolved in alcohol to make liquid shellac
Hello what kind of shellac do you use
Home made, shellac flakes with alcohol.
The older the shellac is the less it will make cells.
@@annemarieridderhof thanks are you using denatured alcohol
@@lynnesachs2330 yes I am.
No I am not using any shellac yet. My husband believes that the alcohol will make it go up in flames and ruin the process?
Painted with oil paint sticks?
No...it’s encaustic wax ❤️❤️❤️
por que solo a las personas de habla ingles ...los que hablan español de tenemos derecho a aprender tan hermosa tecnica
♥♥♥
Awesome work ! Nice video, Thank you ( And stop burning holes in shellac it's not cell's ) :) ha ha
hahaha ♥ Thank You ♥
if Damien Hirst did it he would charge a fortune and people would say it was good ,,,so it is fun and than is the point of everything
hahahaha...♥♥♥
A hot plate
♥ Thank you ♥
♥Thank you for watching ♥
Ok so this video is awesome 💯 i do crayon melting and ive been trying to figure out how to give them a bit more pop so i loved the shellac idea but the straw simple but um mind blown when you used it i so kept thinking to myself dont burn the straw into it lol thank you for your vid im going to check out some more of your videos now AMBER MAMIE USA
