- RebelTaxi has been a cartoon reviewer for over ten years, so when he starts to create his own project what went wrong? With a comic, a reboot and a pilot of his idea "Loki IRL" can he make his idea work alone or does he need help to get it moving forward? In this video I interview him to dive deeper and see what's going on.

Happy new year
I have the urgent need to get all the DK audio clips you're using for the bullet texts, please.
You look like a tall 4th grader
Forgive me for my wrongs, I have just begun

Just begun 6 years ago.
tuff
And youâll definitely succeed, I believe that can happen.
Good luck in future endeavors!
Honestly, hearing about RebelTaxi's process is kind of awe-inspiring. He had an idea, presented it to the public, got his idea questioned, and instead of giving up, he did some soul searching and figured out how to properly tackle this project. I for one really needed a story like this, because it's both uplifting and realistic, as it drags people down from thinking everything will go ok, but also give them a way that "hey. This CAN be done, just not the way you're doing it"
Pan is the living embodiment of cringe of social awkwardness and we love him for it
Exactly, Pan is sometimes too cringe for his own good lmao but at least he owns it, I can respect that.
Relatable
I love Pan but 11:19 was the worst cringe I have ever felt in my entire life

Talking to Genndy Tartakovsky is a big deal man. I know I been there when I met Steven Spielberg.
Bro this hit too close to home when you feel like you have a good idea for a comic and do like this first like 5 chapters of the comic you feel like shot and don't want to continue it anymore expecially when people actually like it,this video just hits to my core
Same, I have a comic that's very much not receiving attention
I was actually working on a BNHA fan comic but the only reason I quit is because the key events became canon so I didn't see the point in continuing.

I sure wish everything wasn't compared to Hazbin or Helluva. It feels like every new series just HAS to be compared to them.
I get that it can be annoying but I wouldnt worry about it much, its a just a brain compartmentalizing tool all humans use for most things.
There were many Earthbound/Mother 3 inspired indie titles before undertale, yet Undertale was the first to blow up as big as it did, and thus a wide enough audience will almost always compare those products (as well as indie games in general) to it.
It does make sense to compare most new series to them
It's that Vivzi made two successful original made series with only a put together crew they made 2 pilots and got the views and funding to go further with the projects.
For every creator can only dream of succeeding like Viv did.
When making a web original pilot Vivs work is the gold standard people want to reach.
There just arenât that many self-funded or crowdfunded online web shows right now. Iâm sure that will change as people follow in Vivzieâs footsteps and do it themselves instead of relying on networks. Tome (terrain of magical expertise) by Chris Niosi is a good example that came before.
and hazbin is just a pilot at this point so it's extra silly.
There's only thing that I'll remember from this video above all else:
8:38 - "Genndy Tarnovski"
oh man that pained me
?
Being on that stream when it happened was....an experience
Rebeltaxi's CZcams channel is so good, love the 2000s aesthetic.
11:16 My heart goes out to you, Pan. It's embarrassing enough that that was said out loud in the first place, but _at the pitch meeting?_ If you can live that down, you're braver than I am.
The pitch he told to Gendy was pretty hilarious.
I cant imagine how it mustâve felt, imagine seeing one of your idols and you embarass yourself
Seeing Pan's face on that call felt like accidentally stumbling into something never meant to be seen
Being an artist and creator, one of the hardest thing to realize is that youâre the only person who truly /knows/ your characters. Sometimes the series you create doesnât seem fleshed out because while you know your characters(because they lived in your head for years) you have to go out your way to explain/show the audience what your characters are and their motives. Sometimes thereâs holes in the story you didnât know was there because your audience cannot possibly fill those holes in because you didnât put the pieces in the story.
Sorry DaftPina, but we all know Panâs inspiration for LokiIRL comes from Freddy Got Fingered.
I have the utmost respect for Pan for actually trying his damnest at his dream. He actually had runs and got to pitch something. And hey even if he crashes and burn, his channel is magnificent and should be proud of it. Legit miss the podcast
Your Webcomic can't fail if you don't make it!
âDoes he need help to get it Drawn Together?â I see what ya did there!
Lol Pan sense of humor was thanks to that show! đđđ
I would watch the hell of a Loki irl series I have been. Following pan for over 8 years and seeing him make it in the industry would bring a tear to my eyes
Well he did technically make it when he was the character designer for the failed Mortal Kombat Ultra girls cartoon (which would have been interesting to see ngl).
@@elusivegrain9162 yeah it pains me it never got off the ground
Pan, you need to stop involving other people in your humiliation fetish.
Chad Pan Pizza > Virgin Mr. Enter
In all seriousness, good luck on your pilot. Iâve been subscribed to you since 2012; I could write a whole essay on how you inspired me to pursue a career in animation. You never sugarcoated the hardships of the industry, yet you still showcased all of the greatness that can come from it.
I know itâs weird coming from an Internet rando, but Iâm proud of you man. Good luck and godspeed.
@The Eye Creature Yeah, thatâs pretty unnecessary.
Me enter is based
Mr. Enter isn't even worth critiquing anymore. It's not liberating, it's just sad.
@@anth636 Whos sad, enter or op?
@The Eye Creature I mean I can see the similarities. Both are failed projects, had passion and wasn't received well. Although, they definitely have way more differences.
Pan really be the one to pitch a show, and telling them that people and cartoon characters banging is part of the world building without explain why it's important.

Must be rough to talk about your own failed comic
@@MaoRatto âŠdude, itâs not as if theyâre not mocking Pan. Like, it would be a tough pill to swallow for some to talk about their failures.
We often see the results of success and not the failures and misses we make along the way.

I've always wanted to make my own show or comic since I was a kid, even to this day. And while I do write down my ideas and try to improve my art, I've realized that I still have a lot to learn and so much room to grow in all areas. I'm just afraid of not doing my ideas justice.
I legitimately enjoyed his first comic attempt the most
I'm on a similar boat as Pan was back in 2009 when I tried to make my first webcomic, but after discovering three years of being emotionally and mentally manipulated by a very problematic Argentine artist online through role playing, I tried again in 2011 in another webcomic hosting site but still stopped at 15 pages due to the very lack of financial gain, self confidence, planning, no job, and no driver's license.
After being reclusive for 9 years, 2018 was when I want to start at the bottom to get my first job. At the start of the pandemic, I start to fill up comic writing notes on a composition book on everything I need to know when writing comic stories, including small ones and will fill another one for 2022.
Now I have an upcoming webcomic for the new year in a bunch of short stories that anybody can go into thanks to the various comics and art books I read this past few years. I learned a lot and got much better overtime what I want my comic to be.
Good luck with that. I wonder who's that Argentinean artist who becomes more of an antagonist in your perspective.
Hey, it's been a few years. Horade is unfortunately, my first groomer I had a relationship with in the late 00âs. My mini series about him is in the works for this year on my channel and official tumblr account called "I Had Enough with Horacio". He deleted all his stuff after he got cancelled that day over on twitter, but I managed to pick up the evidence of clues for a few years.
I love Pans laugh so much
"Villains gotta have some good in them"
I dont know where you got that because Dio is evil incarnate, and everyone loves him
I've been working on animating my CZcams channel's pilot for a year. I have finally found a decent way to keep pace with what I want to do versus what I can do. My pilot won't have color at all aside some circumstances, but will have voice acting, sound effects, detailed backgrounds, and expressive characters. I hope to have it out by next year's fall in full.
I was honestly not even aware he did some livestream pitch thing. I only knew he was working on a pilot lately, since the podcast has been quiet, which i respect with them all being busy.
Oh my god, to be in a video call with those two absolute animation LEGENDS... I don't fault him at all for being nervous. I'd be borderline pissing my pants from the internal fangirl rioting inside me.
I've been a fan of rebeltaxi since his first 3 videos, seeing his face for the first time shook me i was like whoooooa its senpai
This video is really wanted I needed to hear recently. I've had these characters for years and I feel as if they're starting to come together but I've always been scared of showing them off and making this comic cause I just needed it be perfect. I really appreciate this video and it's probably gonna be one of those vids I rewatch (or relisten to) from time to time
I tried a good couple of times to read Loki IRL but while the art was at least interesting it was terribly hard to read and I was uninterested in the writing. I really did want to like it because I do enjoy Pan's youtube and style, but Loki was just too hard to read.
Iâm so excited to see how the pilot turns out!!
Iâve been a big fan of lokiIRL for a long time now, this is the first Iâve heard of a possible pilot. Finally. Thank you.
That is why i said to most new people to always make your webcomic short.
Cheers to the New Year Daft! I am a new sub from this year and binged watched all your stuff when I had the time off earlier this year! Love your stuff keep up the great work!!

This was so cool and wholesome!
Damn I remember I was gonna try pitching to one of those adult swim streams, but then I got too intimidated and backed down.
I'll always have respect for Pan, not just because of the fact his videos helped in realizing my love for animation growing up (started watching his videos when I was like, 9 or 10 and I'm gonna be 20 in June jesus fuck), but because no matter what issues he's had to get through in the past, whether it be creatively or otherwise, he just keeps going and creating.
No matter how you feel about what he's done, or what he's currently doing, that deserves respect. Cuz it takes a hell of a lot more will than one might think.
nobody has to respect a weirdo who wants to fuck cartoons and makes mediocre comics. the works he reviews are leagues more interesting than his commentary or his own work. i get he was special to your childhood but he's just not that interesting as a creator.

Dude, Loki IRL feels so at home with me in its production. I wanted to write a book back in 2012. I was a kid, and my first draft was simple and cliche. Then, in 2014 I felt like rewriting it, and I stopped halfway, as I felt like I was doing nothiing but updating a bad story into a very similar story. So, after stopping, I lost all of the work. My characters became pretty important to me when I started wanting to draw, and figured "I have all these character ideas, lets see them!" In 2016, I found the old, first thing I wrote. I said, "Wow, this seriously sucks! Let's fix this." Having learned lots since then, I took an Emergent Writing approach, and scribbled down a new story, that was incoherent and bizarre. I dropped the idea of writing it, and decided I needed some structure. Now, I've written nothing, BUT I've got so many notes, and actually have cohesion. I'm so far from writing it, but... It feels good this time. So, when I put out a book in 10 years, I'll hope I can compare it to Pan's cartoon that will be released in 10 years! Hopefully both are good.
God, I hope nobody actually reads this-
Nice

I want to make animated projects, and I am aware that it is not very wise to make such ambitious stuff all alone. However, one of the issues with me trying to find other people is that I donât know where to look. Can someone please let me know about places or ways I can find people to help me with a project without coming of as some kind of stalker?
if u want some inspiration, look at the series fairy foxes, it's almost entirely made by 1 person, she only gets help from voice actors. as for finding a team, there are plenty of discord servers u can join and pitch ur idea, im sure u can find help, but be prepared to pay them!
Thanks.
I donât think you need to worry about coming off as a stalker, if you just tell someone on social media what you wanna do and they can either accept or decline, thereâs nothing weird about it
Thing is though if you donât have money itâs pretty hard to find people whoâll accept. You can get lucky and find someone who really loves your concept and will wanna work on it out of passion, but theyâre likely gonna want a fair bit of creative control in that arrangement too which you need to be able to accept
Never imagine Rebel Taxi would be a topic in this channel. D8
Happy new years bitches
Why try to make a comic without having read any comics?? Love me nice is a webcomic (now in hiatus) about humans and toons living in the same world, but it is more focused on relationships rather than how cool the world is, goes to show that a concept for a project only goes so far if you don't know how to develop it.
Comics have the lowest barrier to entry of any storytelling medium besides literature so tons of people go into it thinking itâs just an âeasierâ way to make a cartoon and not its own unique medium with its own rules
@@nykcarnsew2238 exactly. i don't know why people are praising him for just jumping into it instead of doing proper research on his medium of choice first.
