- Today we take a look at the most broken launch of a mode in Hearthstone history. Whizbang’s Heroes has a deck that surpasses Day One Demon Hunter in winrate, and hackers have attacked the mode making it actually unplayable. We also cover upcoming balance issues, lack of dust refunds for cards, and the shop being updated with expensive bundles. Is there any good news here?

They don't have playtesters, we the players are the playtesters.
The devs being out of touch, not doing QA testing properly and making hacking the gamemode trivial? Couldn't be Hearthstone.

Dude try playing heros brawl/tournament spending 1000 gold to enter and then hackers forces you too lose with obvious hacks, and u dont get anything back or cant report it anywhere either.

I suspect Bliz fired most of their QA testers. Their new big mod in Warcraft was also riddled with bugs and exploits that are just now getting fixed.
If Arfus was free, you know they would change it ASAP.

Also the minions from Joybuzz Jehpetto that are set to 1 mana 1/1 do not become 0 cost, when they should.
Who do they think are buying these bundles? The are priced for whales, but whales already have it all? Everything about this mode is just so out of touch with reality.
People buy them. They only need a handfull of idiots to buy them to make profit from it

I respect Zeddy saying there's 19 heroes available to play when in reality, there's only 1 hero to play. Couldn't they just change it to where the passive only gives you tier 1 excavates?
Twist was fun for the first day pretty much. Also what ircs me is if they say that oh it goes down cause we see it as an event. Well what else do events have other then been online only sometime- we get bonus rewards. Twist has non and they want us to invest in useless cards instead
Why play test when you can have your player base do it for you, and then you can make changes afterwards 😂

Very fun twist mode: play arfus vs arfus or lose vs arfus. No kidding, i saw 20 or so arfuses and decided not to play anymore. Duels died for this

When I saw you queue up as Arfus, I thought you were just going to mindlessly drone on about how broken it is while beating your opponent. Definitely did not see THAT coming...

What sucks is, because Im such a death knight simp, I crafted golden lich king and arfus preemptively for this twist season. But now beacause arfus is meta I just look like a meta chaser. But *EVERY* game is nothing but arfus and its just mirror match after mirror match which is really boring
Same case for me.
I would assume in the normal deck building modes, verification happens by the server to make sure all the cards are owned by you before you can play (and those cards are valid for that mode/class etc).
Given you can't deck build here, server side deck checking was not put in place. And that is being abused by third party software/client hacks.
So the devs will add a check to make sure the deck you play with matches the expected deck for that hero in this mode.
Played decks are also logged server side, so it will be a simple matter to run an autoban script to ban accounts that did this.
Changing Arfus other than HP, will require a client change as the deck is coded into it.

the C'Thun bundle is insane considering that you can get C'Thun for "free", if you buy a Whispers of the Old Gods pack

I am not surprised something like this happened, wait till next expansion, something else is gonna break, wait a few more months they're gonna adjust something do with dust or gold values its gonna break, wait another few months some mini-set is gonna break, wait a few more months and it'll repeat.

I don’t know why they put Mutanous in Rafaams decks, when Cthun adds itself to your opening hand. And you can’t reshuffle Cthun, if he gets eaten. What were they thinking
Arfus also has Patchwerk, which can destroy C'Thun in hand.

Also U can't even play it against friends just to have fun don't know if this is a bug or international either way is stupid and must change.
It's a bug, Rediculous Hat confirmed it's being worked on and will be fixed.
How can they not nerf anything but health? Make Arfus's hero power cost at least 3 mana.
Nah they just need to nerf the passive, make it play two card per rune for the excavate.
They will do normal nerfs too, but this stuff is server-side, it's easier.
@@josemarioperozofuenmayor3475 I agree but then I'm still afraid that the deck is OP becuase like Zeddy said there's no old cards. In Omu for example there's like 4 or 5 top end cards that do nothing but brick up your hand. Most decks aside from DK have at least one card that is just almost as bad as not playing anything. Before everyone realised how broken arfus was I was already struggling against the immense stats of The Lich King
the mode is incredibly for the archivment shuffle bombs into the enemy deck. Maybe you will lose more than you win but oh boy do you get these archivments fast... :D
If you want to fix Arfus, you could lower health, make the hero power 2 mana, DOUBLE the requirement on the passive, possibly even remove the ability to generate the legendary treasures (Paladin is going to be a massive power outlier, and Snake hard countering another deck is depressing), you could likely do at least any two of those things in tandem and they’d still be a strong hero.
Either bad playtesting or it's intentional (as it seems to have been in nearly every standard expansion in the last few years) to get people to spend money for free wins until they *eventually* nerf it 1-2 weeks down the line. It's the HS version of the ''early adopter'' stuff other devs use, except for HS it's a ploy to keep money flowing in from the whales and from people frustrated that they lose to arfus every single game. I've only played twist a handful of time using C'thun and i've only faced the other F2P decks like Kaelthas and Leeroy so it doesn't really affect me but it wouldn't surprise me that they're pulling the same thing they've been pulling in standard for the last 10 expansions. And people wonder why getting legend/having the card back means nothing anymore.
its turns out excavate is extremely broken, we had scarlet in duels that had the same hero power, and it was very not good at the time because you couldnt win against druid, warlock, and warrior, it was too slow, excavate rounds out the strategy
I started to play BG Duos, and that is so much fun, this just seems like a total mess. For this i run far far away!
They literally could have prepared for this since it’s the exact same exploit as Duels. And yet they didn’t.
Finally making an interesting twist format, and they release the most broken thing ever.
Zeddy, thank you for sharing this about the hacker with the Override Drill card. The EXACT SAME THING happened to me last night by the EXACT SAME PLAYER shown in your video. I even have the recorded replay of the match. I reported them. Hopefully, Blizz will ban them. This kind of thing just sucks the fun right out of the game.
I'm just so happy that they really use the time when twist is down to optimize the mode and bring out high-value bundles that make sense for the current season. Haha ha, yeah, I didn't think it was possible to get worse after the overpriced decks and three-deck roulette gaming for two months between Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior when Wonders launched. Yet, here we are.
For years I been advocating for Seasonal Rotation mode, where you have Core set, latest Expansion + 3 random sets from the past that NOT in standard. Changes every month. Simple. Monetized fro Blizz benefit. Requires MINIMAL maintenance.
But NO, they have to first screw it up by first selling ridiculous OP Twist only cards last year, and then kill Duels to make some sort of Tavern Brawl boss fight.
WHY? Just WHY???
Blizzard can barely balance single cards, let alone entire decks they made themselves across an entire mode. I expect there will always be 1 or 2 broken decks.
They put into testing the guys who thought that deck slots are confusing.
Good thing they can balance twist quickly by changing hero HP. They just need to set Arfus to what, 10 starting health to fix this?

Honestly this is a rare case where I'm rooting for the hacker, coz this is making people stop playing this god forsaken game
I came back to hearthstone with the launch of Deathknight after quitting just before just before united in stormwind, stopped playing a couple weeks into whizbangs workshop cause the meta didn't feel fun to me anymore. Stuff like this makes me want to return even less. That's pretty sad.
I crafted Arfeus mainly for the meme. I only played one game so far. I played King Crush against Arfus. For some reasons, my opponent played badly and was mostly a sitting duck. And for some reasons, my draws and mana cheats were godlike. And I won.

Well to be fair, Wizards of the Coast also had terrible balancing in self-contained packages back in the day when I stop playing Magic about 10 years ago. Some pairings of Duel Decks or whatever they were called were terrible (they only had two decks to balance!), sometimes one deck would systematically crush the other one. I remember in one case, one of the decks simply didn't have an answer for a card in the other that could outright end the game in one or two turns. They were still fun to have, but if you wanted things to be balanced you needed to "edit" one of the decks :P
I feel better about my D10 rank in Twist seeing you record this at D5 yesterday.

I quite like that I always spared Arfus while disenchanting legendaries, I couldn't bring myself to do it, and now I got validated for it. The good boy is best boy and it should stay that way. Don't neuter my boy, buff the other classes, blizz.

Despite the nonsense, the theme is strong enough that I am still queueing up Twist and having fun. I tried Leroy yesterday, played against C’thun, and got a turn 4 with with just the most nutty curve. Liadrin, into some buffs, Into crusader aura… the hero power for Leroy is very strong.
I saw tons of Rafaams and thought they're a counter but I guess not. When I tried playing Nozdormu the passive made me hate the game with the "30" seconds per turn. N'ztohs hero power says minion but does the weapon too. Some of this Twist stuff feels like it was made and never once tested.
I went to play twist, but Arfus and LUL'jin are the only two legendary I don't have. Since I'm not going to bother crafting either one, I guess I'm sitting out this season. I don't trust them to balance anything properly at this point.
Lol, it just so happens that Arfus is the only legendary I *don't* have so no broken deck for me! I've had some good games with Illidan, Rafaam, and the LK.
I'd be cool if for every deck that gets nerfed, their legendary gets a buff. That way, the people that crafted then get a little bonus. Imo, Arfus could just be buffed to 1 mana or something

a similar case of no play testing happened at the start the pandaria remix event in wow where very popular farming methods were not balanced beforehand and it damn near ruined the whole event. blizz needs to put a little more effort into testing things before they go live instead of putting out reactionary hotfixes afterwards.
I believed Xyrella would be the best character for this gamemode, she's pretty unfair even against aggro decks.
Then I fought an Arfus that got Azerite Snake and I literally could never win because I could never get to 60HP.
Arfus is one of the few legendaries I don't own for the new twist season and I have the dust to craft him, but what's the point of crafting him if he's getting nerfed soon (with no dust refund) and there's a decent chance that when I play him I get matched against a cheater who kills me on turn 1?
I guess they laid off the guy who was in charge of balance testing Arfus.
Dust refunds would be a way too juicy thing. I already own almost all of the legendaries, and would be ok with disenchanting them. So that would be just free 1600 for each nerf. That is crazy.
this brings me deja vu of shadowverse's hero battles (essentially same concept) and out of 24 decks there was also 1 deck which just obliterated all other decks
I think I'm finished this mode for now, it was fun for a few days, but I got bored. Can we get like at least the cards=max hp stuff next time?

In addition to everything said in the video, you can't challenge your friends to twist games. Which is a shame, because the decks are fun when it's not 80% mirrors

Shop prices have been way too high for way too long. Card packs shouldn't be so pricey, and things like cosmetics should be earned in-game via gold or another token earned in game. But yeah twist being like this is NOT good.

They removed duels to put this mode which basically its best character is paid for and recycles the hero power from duels. its also the worst legendary out of the craftable ones by far
Play testing in an overly corporate environment sounds awful. Like is there a quota to how many games/ decks you have to play test in a work day or you get written up?

How is it possible that the mirror has a win rate that's not 50%?
I get that sometimes, there might be disconnects or whatever but that should be less than 1% of games.
Its because that winrate includes the Arfus deck and the Lich King deck. So not just the mirror

I don't think it DK Rufus gets nerf. I believe they will give the other decks better cards and passive effect
But the community on the officials forums say that the game cant be hacked and its just people playing bad or just game mechanics LOL.

i played on asia server, i can't record it bcs i'm playing it at phone at that moment it happened so fast. i played and i met 2 opponents skipped my turn when they're about to lose. so they played their turn so fast and then when it's my turn i just got the end of the rope basically ending my turn not even 1 sec after they're done with their turn. both of them using random letters name. did anyone meet a case like this ?
I'm not an expert on the subject but they might be what are known as "barcode accounts"

The last time this happened was in Duels and the hackers got permanently banned, now that they know it why would they risk their account for some wins? They won't get to use their Ranked rewards if they get banned forever.

Never understood the losers that cheat in online video games, it's funny once or twice when your 14. Also the Balancing issues HS has is really bad sometimes, they should test more and ask the pro streamers what cards seem to broken before release or something. Edit- Also the bundles are very scummy and bad, I don't mind spending cash on the game but these bundles are way over priced.
Most Hearthstone players:
“I see overpowered deck - going full scam mode. Scam with self-damage warlock, than i see scam deck in Twist, how am i even going to miss a chance” Just a friendly reminder, these bots are always the same people, and not any better than testers in Moneyzzard, cause totally braindead.
They need to sell these bundles badly to recoup all the legal fees so far.. 😂

They should have just made more single player content. It seems like every new mode they try and make these days is terrible. Even tavern brawls have been pretty terrible lately. I hate to say it but I feel like it always boils down to Blizzard trying to squeeze more money out of the game be it cutting corners in dev/qa or screwing the players.
Side note, Brann lost pixels on the mobile version.
