  • Review of the US Army Field tarp. It’s just like the USMC Marpat Field Tarp, except for the UCP pattern camouflage. Other than that, it’s exactly the same. An excellent Tarp.

Dude your intro is the most epic on youtube! I honestly never knew we had an in issued tarp, so I can't comment on it at all. Looks like a larger version of the poncho, so that's cool. Let me know how it holds up!

    Hell yeah brother 💯🇺🇸
Those are badass. Tough as nails.
I have few of them. Like you said. If it's good enough for our military. It's definitely good enough for me.

UCP works great in sagebrush country. The greens match up with the brush real well. I don't love it but since it works well, and I can get it sooo much cheaper than anything else, most of my kit is in UCP or the matching USAF tiger stripe. I try to wear solid color clothing with it though, to break it up. coyote, tan, grey, and OD mostly. The air force stuff is a slightly better pattern IMHO but they didn't make as much cool stuff in it.
Also, if you don't want it to show the camo on these, you can pitch it solid color out. These are 2 sided.

I feel the same way about being good enough for me, I have a lot of surplus items. I never cared for the camo pattern but I like this tarp.

You know that color is pretty good for the winter time. You might keep an extra in the original color just for that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Metal man, look on the Rit dye site. There is a recipe called terrarium moss. Close to Olive Drab.

I got one of those a few years ago, also from eBay. It didn't cost much, maybe $20 or less, shipped. The top side is lightweight ripstop nylon. Spots and then larger pieces of the inner rubberized coating or whatever that is became sticky and stuck to itself so that when unfolded the rubberized part stuck together and peeled off from the nylon. Could be that a better folding and stowing technique and baby powder applied to that side of a new one would prevent that happening. Being that's old (2008), used, and who knows how it was stored before I got it, I'd expect a new one wouldn't have the same problem with the rubberized side. It's good for a quick hooch and/or ground cloth with a bivy. Using the snaps, which are the same as on the MSS, I've folded it over and made it into a ground cloth / sheath for my sleep pad. It's not long enough to cover a hammock in the rain.

Just a heads up. You can buy those tarps new, along with US Army ponchos, etc directly from ORC industries, who is the supplier for the US military. In fact, I just got one from them today. They're new production. They have a bunch of other stuff too.

Bruh since I’m not military, ur video helped explaining that this Tarp & the USMC tarps are the basiclly same I was confused since this tarp is labeled under “Wet weather Tarpulin” at the surplus store where I go so I thought I was getting into a whole different type of tarp in general .. I was trying to figure out if there was any differences between both … I ended getting a MARPAT USMC tarp from EBay for cheap kinda knew there was a rip already but I repaired it and it’s awesome !!! I’m stuck between getting another USMC MARPAT tarp or This one you have lol, still haven’t decided. I Just love military gear lol

That's a pretty nice tarp however I don't think I'd ever sleep under a tarp right on the ground I live in the Mojave Desert where there are too many things crawling around on the ground at night sleeping in a tent is much better for me however I would definitely use something like that with a hammock. However my experience with military gear is somewhat Limited however my dad was retired military and he always used to say sometimes military-grade means lowest bidder it doesn't necessarily mean high quality
