The Final Wave of Mario Kart 8 DLC is upon us and we have a look at the final 8 tracks, including Wii Rainbow Road & Rosalina's Ice World! Here's a reaction & mini discussion on the reveal!

Rosalina's Ice World gets a thumbs up for me.
No piranha plant pipeline? I find that odd. I know it would be a bit weird to have two piranha plant theme tracks in one wave, but I thought the entire point of the booster course pass was that it was meant to preserve the tour courses. Maybe Nintendo is saving piranha plant pipeline from Mario kart 9?
That's where you're wrong, their goal NEVER was to preserve the tour track, but despite Nintendo saying so, everyone choose to *I'm just gonna pretend like I didn't see that*

It’s just kinda weird that they didn’t either just put all of them in, or only put a small curated selection of the Tour tracks in like with the other games
@@jomaq9233 because whereas everyone assumed that the BCP was created to preserve tour tracks, Nintendo stated in an interview (which I am fricking unable to find) that the only reason they came up with the bcp was for milking 8dx
Rosalina's Ice World, my favorite course made it to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! 🤩
Daisy Circuit is the one track I wished for when this all started, so I'm satisfied (rip Rainbow Road cup tho)

techincally we can do a rainbow road cup as there is alot rainbow roads coarses now
@@Savataric We've been able to do one since wave 3. Wii Rainbow Road now makes it impossible to do all in one Grand Prix without quitting before it's supposed to end (5/6 races).

I'm honestly surprised that they didn't do pipeline since it is a tour original.
But the selection here is very awesome. Rosa ice world was something everyone never thought of, but I'm happy to see it since we hadn't had a 7 rep since w3
But I can say this, wii has been the most spoiled game out of all the mks for the bcp. It's the only game besides tour to have a track every wave.
Other than that, this wave looks amazing & I can't wait to play the final curtain call of the booster course pass
I thought of it and hoped for it, but I assumed it'd never happen. Thank god they chose it.
Sad we didn’t get Airship Fortress, but I’m still really happy with the selection we ended up with. Almost all my other favorites made it, and it’s great to have them with 8’s gameplay. And Funky Kong returning was the icing on the cake. Popped off so hard for that.
I predicted Rosa’s ice world was gonna show up and I’m glad it did bc I feel like it’s those underrated tracks
I am SO happy that they went with Rosalina's Ice World for this final wave, I pretty much gave up on it after 3DS RR was considered the "final" 3DS track and after Wii Daisy Circuit took up a slot this wave, but secretly wanted some track to get replaced so we could get Rosa's track, its crazy that Piranha Plant Pipeline got shafted but ill take my W proudly 🙏
To be fair, both Double Dash and Wii got quite a bit of their Tour tracks added (GCN is only missing Mushroom Bridge and Dino Dino Jungle, while Wii is only missing Dry Dry Ruins)
Tour didn’t add that many GCN tracks that weren’t already in 8 Deluxe’s base game for whatever reason
I'm always gonna grieve for my boy, Wario Colosseum. That track got done so fucking dirty, man.

When Wave 6 release next week, Mario Kart 8 will be officially over after 9 years of content. This is truly the end of a era and i’m ready for the next Mario Kart

With your comment we actually have been getting Mario type of games for a month. We had wander, Mario part 3 for the online, this week is that wario game, next is the dlc and finally Mario rpg. That’s a lot of Mario type of content
I’m sad we didn’t get Dino Dino Jungle, it’s a better track and it didn’t repeat a mechanic we already got from Snowboard. They’ve blocked the gap cut on DK Mountain btw. You can see this from promotional photos and made the gap wider.
Would also like to mentioned. we're getting 17 more mii costumes, one of which being an amiibo exclusive (daisy) so probably no waluigi.
And the other being a new jukebox mode.
Double Dash's lack of representation is definitely a small disappointment for me because it's my favorite in the series, but overall I would say I'm happy with what we got
I mean, based on Tour’s GCN track selection, there realistically could’ve only been four GCN tracks max
Would've faired as well as DS or 3DS at that point if Mushroom Gorge was thrown in there, arguably better just because the track selection's more favorable.
Agreed. Up until recently double dash was the only game I hadn’t played yet and I just got the chance to play it not too long ago. The major things on my copium hopes for wave 6 were toads factory and a mushroom bridge/city music remix. I knew it wasn’t gonna happen, but it still is a shame GCN got robbed of so many spots
Also, Double Dash only has 10 unique music tracks for courses, and I highly doubt they want to repeat what was done with DS Wario Stadium and Waluigi Pinball
7 out of the 10 unique racetrack music from Double Dash are in 8 Deluxe now, and with two of the remaining three not being in Tour at all, that really did leave Mushroom Bridge as the only possible track that could’ve still been added (probably the least popular out of the four/five speculated GCN courses)
7:23 just wait until in like two years they announce Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Pro with 48 new original tracks

On Wii Rainbow Road, the original did have tile texture but it was a little more squarish, smaller and was more subtle.
I honestly don't know why people wouldn't like RIW. It's a pretty good track imo. Nice aesthetic, great music, has a gap cut right at the start, not too long of a track. What's not to like?
I’m guessing relatively simple design mixed with how the track doesn’t fully feel like a Rosalina track
As one who used to not Rosalina's Ice World, to me it looked bland. It just felt like Sherbet Land or Frappe Snowland, but with Lumas and the Comet Observatory.
Yet, somehow this version is making me realize I may have been hating this track for the wrong reasons.

I didn't play much MK7, so I can't speak from experience, but from my understanding, it's a mix of "it's an ice level" and "Rosalina deserved better"

So some recent discoveries from X/Twitter and the extended gameplay clips: Rosalina’s Ice World will have a new shortcut before finish line and halfpipes before the underwater section
you can technically say that BCP is mk9 with tour, in fact, you have 20 new tracks (14 cities and 6 nitros) and the rest are retros like mk8 23 retros/25 nitros, bcp is 20 nitros and 28 retros, you also have new characters to choose from, new music and mechanics because half pipes work only on bcp because wario’s goldmine doesn’t have them and it’s a wii track
so yeah, mk9 was in front of us all this time

Nintendo calls Tour it's own Mario Kart, so people call it 9, despite alot also don't call it 9.
Nintendo also classifies the BCP as its own thing, despite it's DLC for Mario Kart 8. At that point, you could call it 10, even though that makes less sense.
Roll all that & god forbid Nintendo calls the next entry 11.
This is why the whole distinction of what's Mario Kart 9/10 across 8, Tour & the BCP is so unnecessary to me.
Ngl, now that I look at it more the Wii RR texture reminds me of the one in Rosalina’s reveal trailer for smash 4

The main Wii tracks that got put in still have their famous cuts all the same. That's like a 4 or 5 to 1 ratio essentially, ntm the wilder cuts you could do in Athens Dash & a couple other tracks.

I'm honestly still in beyond disbelief that Airship Fortress did not make the selection.

Okay unpopular opinion. I really did not like Rainbow Road on MKWii because of how difficult it was for me. I kept falling off so many times I just never wanted to ride that track anymore. I’m amazed by how much praise it has gotten this long that by high demand its back on MK8.
I’m totally going to have smart steering on when I race on it. I think it will be more enjoyable now without all the falling. I wish I could feel the praise it gets because it would be another loving track for me but thankful there’s 3DS & N64 Rainbow road I love those ones so much & so many more awesome tracks new and classic!😁✨Mario Kart 8 is the best!!! What a way to end the wave👌🏼

Was she in Tour??? I'm ngl, I didn't even think Tour had weight classes. Every Mario Kart does, but you felt it in the others, it felt unnoticeable in Tour.

No Wario Coloseum or GCN Rainbow Road unfortunately for me, but I'm just as happy with Wii Rainbow Road. Having that and the 3DS Rainbow Road in the same game is incredible.
I don't play MK8 much anymore; I just stop by whenever a new pack comes out. But I put so much nonstop time into the game. It's been a phenomenal ride, Nintendo has kept it alive for nearly a decade, and as much as I want an MK9, it has a lot to live up to.

I mean, I wouldn’t say the leaks were entirely nothing, it did correctly predict that 2 SNES tracks, 2 N64 tracks, 5 GBA tracks, 4 DS tracks would come, so it did end up becoming a decent guideline that was at least somewhat followed
Some stuff got shifted starting in wave 3, but it wasn’t until wave 5 that more considerably drastic changes to the leaked info were made
The later waves were probably just more hastily planned last-minute compared to earlier ones

I love Wii a lot but the fanservice here is almost too much. I am in complete disbelief that despite pretty much being the grandfather of antigravity, DS Rainbow Road has been neglected for 10 years now and gets no place in this game. We could have done without Wii Rainbow Road. The tracks look really good though

Pipeline is far too similar to piranha plant slide, plus having 2 piranha courses in 1 wave wouldn't make sense
Nice and do not be sad because 50 courses did not make it. Just wait for Mario Kart 8 Ultimate on switch 2 there they give us the same game again with 14 more cups and a brand new story mode with minigames. Also 10 new characters and unique items. Because of course they will do that. Probably. Or maybe we get Mk9, but i doubt it.

Really mixed on my end too as I'm part of the "Rosalina's Ice World was MEH"-crowd since 2012 - so seeing it picked over more fan-faves like Airship Fortress or even Wario Coliseum is kind of a big bummer, NGL.
Wii Rainbow Road's a real huge joy to see back though, and SNES Bowser Castle 3 looks AMAZING. And well, in the very end, I'm just happy that Diddy Kong's back here among other fan-faves (though Nabbit and King Bob-Omb got kind of robbed)

@@KonaKonaKaabisteruwhile, yes, quite a bit of the other popular tracks that were already remade in the past besides Airship Fortress made it in, I noticed that there was an effort to at least somewhat bring in just as much, if not more first-time remakes (considering that there were quite a bit of GBA tracks added)

Don't get me wrong, I've been highly appreciating the DLC waves, but it really wouldn't have hurt to put more GCN tracks or DS tracks would it?

3Ds, DS and DDSH are underappreciated and deserved way more spots over wii. Wii got literally nearly every track yet wii fans are still crying and malding about missing stuff like toads factory it’s ridiculous lol

It's because they never omitted any new Tour tracks, city or nitro, up until now & the track itself is pretty cool.
I wish #MK8D only got tracks from other Mario Kart games none from Tour but not complaining I wish we got a PacMan track lots of us never got a chance to play those Mario Kart games and I know from @bluetvgames Tuesdays stream lots of people likes PacMan. I wish we got Dino Dino Jungle instead of DK Mountain we already have tracks like DK Mountain and I don't like lava tracks 'which is a reason why I wish we got Vanilla Lake or any other SNES track than Bowser Castle but I'll like it because its from Super Mario Kart I wish we got all SNES tracks'. I don't know about Rosalina's Ice World I forgot about that Mario Kart game but Winter is soon and I like snow so I'm glad to get a snow track.

Airship fortress is super simillar to bc3 and we needed a winter track for wave 6
Not really outside of both being a Bowser enemy location level & matching the lava-y, sunset aesthetic in the Tour version. One's got Rocky Wrenches, you driving past a barrage of Banzai Bills, swerving in a wooden ship, dodging crates & flamethrowers, being shot out of a cannon, into a desolate tower, & driving past a banged up walkway. The other's driving through a lava ridden castle, dodging Thwomps, tall, thin, walkways high above 3 separate yet sewn-together paths, & a lot more rising & lowering level geometry, lava geysers & trick ramps are tossed in there.
Airship is so overrated like coconut mall. We need tracks that never got remade before

It's really really weird that it took Pipeline's place though, I know that earlier on they might not have had the foresight back then since the BCP was most definitely rushed early on, but they should have taken out Sky Garden or Sky High Sundae instead, those two are really lame tracks

Because Rainbow Roads are generally way better than Circuit tracks

What do you mean by that? What do you not like about the Rainbow Road tracks?
Looking back, it seems like the worst track choice they could've made throughout the entire BCP was having Daisy Circuit, let alone in wave 6. The place it ended up, the third slot in the acorn cup, was beginning to go to a heavy hitter retro like Airship Fortress with some actual semblance of difficulty and competent track design. Or if not, it could've been replaced with Piranha Plant Pipeline and the wave would've still been a step up either way.
