That was THE best MNF team ever, Cosell’s halftime highlights were not to be missed. Ahhh, when MNF meant something, the main event, now there football almost every day of the week. The NFL has reached the over saturation point.
Probably since the name Orange County Rams, or Anaheim Rams, didn't have the same ring to it. Even today, the Angels call themselves the Los Angeles Angels, even though they play in Anaheim. 😊
One week after the MNF game probably better remembered for Cosell's announcement of the murder of John Lennon than for what the Patriots and Dolphins did on the field.
I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was in 8th grade and the only Rams fan in the class. Took a bunch of grief from my classmates, many of whom were Cowboys fans. The next morning I came into homeroom a few minutes late because I watched the whole game and the Rams kicked their ass. Three or four of my close friends were all cheering when I walked in and the teacher had this grin on his face knowing what the game had meant to me. Great day in school!
Very unusual for two teams to play in two blowouts with opposite results within just 13 days. And neither score was a fluke; both times, the winners had huge statistical advantages.
@@johnmanier7968 Rookie Jewerl Thomas ran LA into the playoffs with back to back 140+ yard games in the last 2 games of the season. The Rams controlled the better part of the first half in Dallas during the Wildcard game. Tom Landry made his adjustments on both defense and offense at halftime and it was all Dallas in the second half. This may have been Landry's finest coaching job in a post season contest

The music was just so incredible and dramatic.
The opening sequence of the the first two or three years of MNF, were especially good. It really got the fans watching at home pumped up. 😊
Howard Cosell was a great professional broadcaster. Much better than most of the athletes doing it now and then
This was the best MNF of all time
Don Meredith got a beard on his face
Remeeting after 1979 playoff game Dallas lost to Los angeles i orange county moved to
Two rivals that never liked each other and never would as howard said lik same rivalry and mutally felt between raiders and steelers

Cowboys still rebuilding …..
A decade later they won 3 Super Bowls. They've been rebuilding since then.
@@daboys1215They won those thanks to my Vikings and their idiot GM Mike Lynn.
@@JaxonSmithers The Herschel Walker trade won us those 3 SB's. Did we ever thank you guys for that?

Dallas paid them back two weeks later
