    I think, instead of using petals in mine, I would make a small block of pink/red colored massage bar and freeze then grate it. No random chunks of stuff to pick off your skin while using the lotion bar. Lush cosmetics reviews are great for figuring out what people love or hate about certain types of handmade products.

    It's good to see you looking happier today. I have been browsing through various site listings for heart moulds to use specifically for lotion bars that fit into the hand but aren't too deep a bar and your video just popped up on my videos listing. Not only is it an ideal tutorial for making lotion bars (which I needed for a first attempt at lotion bars) but the heart mould is a perfect depth and size and bar quantity. I had intended to make an introductory purchase with your company anyway, so I will add this mould to the top of that purchase list. The heart lotion bars turned out beautifully.

    I hope it's not too late to reply to this video. I saw you (Soap Queen) on the Hallmark Channel last week (Feb 2020). You made the Heart Lotion Bars. I made them yesterday (2-5-2020) and they are wonderful. My question is related to cleaning up. Could you do a video on how to wash all the containers after you finish? Maybe share the products you use. My plastic containers took forever to clean with me scraping to get the lotion off. I used Dawn Ultra and the Orange degreaser from the Dollar Store. I also tried spritzing them with 91% alcohol. Nothing worked well. I let the containers soak overnight in soapy water and still today I had to scrap and scarp and scrap with my fingernail to try and get all the lotion material out. When I poured the solution into the mold, I used a spcatular to get all the oils out. Is there an easier way to clean?

    • @bramble-berry

      Melt the oils again and wipe out the excess with a paper towel! Then you have less to deal with when you are cleaning the containers.

    Hi they look lovely, could i use shea butter instead plz.

    • @jocelyn6247
      @jocelyn6247 Před 5 lety +4

      Shea butter does not harden like cocoa butter so I don't think you can replace cocoa butter with shea butter but you can definitely keep the cocoa butter in the recipe and add in a little bit of shea butter.

    • @kellyw.1779
      @kellyw.1779 Před 5 lety +11

      Why not...I make these with a combo of Cocoa, Shea and Mango butter. Same amount of ounces, just split up. The "wax" is what keeps them hard. Do a test, here is a couple of tips...you can put a spoon in the freezer, dip it in the melted mixture and it will harden. Rub it on your skin...you can test the hardness and or feel of the bar that way. Next tip...if it happened to be too greasy for your liking, you can add a "small" amount of corn starch (maybe a 1/2 tsp to start) to the mix, it helps tone down any greasy feel. Repeat the spoon test till ya get it to your liking. It's all personal preference. Remember when using Shea butter, it can get "grainy" if it gets too hot so definitely let the hot oils melt is "very slowly". I do mine over a double boiler and add the Shea last after everything else has melted. Take the melted mixture off the stove for a couple of minutes and then add your Shea butter. Works like a dream! Also remember the temp when adding your FO, if its too hot, it will burn off. It should tell the flash point on each individual FO bottle or you can go to the website and look it up. This is a super easy and awesome recipe on its own! Ann Marie makes such amazing products!! Have fun with it...hope this might have helped ya a lil bit. ((Hugs))
