That’s what we (the Black community) called her cut. It was iconic for us back then and to this day. So many black women had that cut back then, including me. You could walk into any Black beauty salon and ask for “a Halle Berry” and the stylist would hook you up. 🤎

Asking because I don't think it was about her confidence mores than her acknowledging that that was a very real movement.. like a nod and wink acknowledgement that she's in on it. Watch the lorry hill video about Halle Berry. She has naturally beautiful features, but she has had plastic surgery and injectables in order to look exactly this way. It is important we start dismantling our concept about aging and what can and can't be done to mitigate its effects - it is entirely unrealistic to think she just never aged. She did and absolutely had certain procedures done to counteracts its effects. There is no such thing as perfect and it's important we realize and educate ourselves on this. She is completely stunning, I agree though!

Halle, who portrayed her and won an Emmy for it, ended up years after her demise being the inaugural and still to that day, sole Black woman to ever win the Oscar for Best Actress.

I love so much in this but especially the fact that she called out her own hair cut knowing that is wtf we all have called it since she came out wearing it in the 90s! That being said, the original poster talked about the role of Dorothy Dandridge she portrayed, who was an actress (also mixed and half African American) who experienced enormous amounts of prejudice and racism during her era and career as a black women, which I'm assuming is why the original poster mentioned he wasn't African American, but could still see Halle's powerful connection to the role.
I love how she was connected to Dorothy Dandridge, it truly was meant to be. I love how she keeps pushing her limits and challenging her acting skills, Bruised was awesome, I did not even know that was her at first, acting in John Wick definitely took her acting to a different avenue. She can play in so many different acting styles, such a timeless beauty. Love you Halle🥰

This has to be one of the best of Vogue's looks break downs in the series, she has so many iconic moments and touching personality, women like her and Selma Hayek have had monumental careers all completely their own over decades and single handedly bring the demo of cultural evolution to their style stories, love this woman
Loved her since I first saw her in Swordfish. She seems cool, mellow, quietly intelligent and an utterly nice person. She wears her beauty so effortlessly. I loved her in Catwoman because she exuded such a charming and endearing aura. Didn’t know she won a “Miss World” title at 19. Such an awesome lady and a superb actress.

I remember precisely when Halle won the Golden Globe because I was actually giving birth to my daughter. It was such a special moment in black history. I remember my mother bringing me the news paper the next morning in the hospital because I couldn't see this magical moment on tv. I actually cried tears of joy & said "Halle, You Did It"! I also saved that news paper and placed it inside of my baby girl's time capsule that she could also share in the joy once she was 18❤️ So proud for her & us!!

Halle has the MOST youthful spirit of any person I've ever heard in an interview. It is absolutely no wonder that she has such a level of transcendent inner beauty that you can see it through her acting which in turn keeps her looking soooo astoundingly beautiful on the outside.
