- On this week’s episode, Zoe and Hannah are discussing a bit of F1 news (aka Oscar Piastri’s Esquire cover shoot) before diving into listener questions! Which F1 driver would’ve performed “I’m Just Ken” at the Oscars? Where is Carlos going to go in 2025? Which 5 F1 drivers would we pick for our basketball team? Why does Toto choose to sit on the pit wall? Listen and find out!
* This was recorded before we found out Christian Horner’s accuser submitted a formal complaint to the FIA
Perfect timing~ I literally found your podcast yesterday
Yay so happy you found us! ❤
ugh I love this podcast! I look forward to every single episode
Funny that you girls mentioned Dev Patel, have you seen the trailer for his new film "Monkey Man"? He's absolutely shredded. 😂💪
YES! Cant wait to see it
@@fanbehaviorf1pod Same - it gives Indian John Wick vibes, never a bad thing!
I've been listening to you two for a couple of months now on and off and I really just adore your chatter and nuanced takes. Generally just a super fun listen every time 😍
I'm a huge champion of points for all positions (or at least excepting 20th and DNFs) as well as a point for fastest lap and pole position for all the reasons you've listed, as well as one other key point: At the moment we often see one or two outlier performances from a midfield/backmarker team that has major consequences on the constructors championship. All it takes is for one wet or chaotic race with an out of position finish, and a less consistent team ends up leapfrogging and banking more prize money at the end of the season (or, in the case of Williams last year, one driver scoring all bar one point - sorry Logan).
Re: the cost cap. I agree it's kind of not working but it's hard to figure out how to make it better? What I'd like to see is a reverse-prizemoney cost cap raise. I can't think of any other way to describe it lmaoooo but yeah TL:DR of it - allocate cost cap expansion in the same way wind tunnel time is, with the teams at the back getting more and those at the front getting less. This would also possibly resolve some of the issues with teams applying to the FiA for CAPEX exceptions, more budget for departments that are under resourced, general expansion of the operation (which can only be good because larger teams means more jobs in F1 means more opportunity for the much talked about diversity) etc etc.
Anyway. Lots of thinky thoughts. Keep doing what you're doing, I adore you guys!
Also re: timezones - as someone for whom the next three races are, for once, ones I can watch live (Kiwi - even worse than Australia wheeeeee!) and then has to wait until 6pm on the Monday to watch because my partner is also a fan, anyone who says you're not a real fan if you don't watch live can step on a Lego. Plus, avoiding the internet for an entire day to stay unspoiled? Kind of freeing, if I'm honest.
the listener questions were A+
Love the friendship bracelets! I made some for COTA but was too exhausted to make the trek to the bracelet swap 😂
The viewing numbers were artificially high cause of Netflix. They would have come down no matter what. I think now is when the new casual fans decide if they are really F1 fans, because for the most part, this is what happens. Periods of dominance as others try to catch up. There still is some great story lines, and folks should be able to appreciate the brilliance of Max and RedBull....just like previously with Lewis and Mercedes.
Call myself a pretty die hard fan, didn't watch either of the two first races live because 4 am race starts. Thankful for the next few races, but spend the rest of the season in constant sleep deprivation. Enjoyed the Pod too.
Sleep goes out the window when it’s an F1 weekend! 🤣
24:00 i disagree with the points. I saw a YT a while ago about it and it showed what teams did to get into the top 10. Doing all out strategies to get points where if everyone would get points being more conservative in your racing would be more beneficial.
It's just a shame that you cannot make that visual but giving them all points feels like making the NFL playoff for 32 teams.
Why 720p? Please upgrade to 1080p at the very least, if not 2160p :)
one day when we actually have money to upgrade our equipment! ☺️
okie
The thing is the FIA changed rules several times during mercedes dominance to stop them, Horner leading the charge - but they said they won't do it now to stop Red Bull
The Rebecca Lewis convo was a few years ago - I think 2021
Australia is v4AM for UK *CRIES*
Ok, I’ve got one, if you could drive an F1 car on an F1 track, 1) would you? And 2) if so, which track would you want to drive?
“Joe” 😂
leclerc litterally does ice climbing 🧗 😂

To me it feels like this season is just a continuation of 2023. Not much new going on.
i have been watching F1 since I was 8 years old which was in the year 2000, I have to admit I don't understand the current conversation around the sport these days. Maybe it was always like this, but because social media wasn't a thing, I never heard it. But, I never believed I had the privilege of wanting the sport to change because my favorite athlete/driver wasn't winning. It's one thing to make small changes to the sport for it to grow with the times, but to change the sport with the intent of stopping one team or driver from dominating, just seems like a terrible idea to me.
I have always believed that the driver's championship does not mean "the best driver of the world", it just means the driver who got the quickest car and was able to adjust to the car the best.
I always chuckle when I hear people talk about some drivers being better than others, I remember years ago alonso in a presser saying he wanted same engines in all cars and lewis sitting next to him almost had a heart attack at that thought. The fact of the matter is, in a car that sergio is comfortable, he could easily beat max and who knows maybe in another car that ocon or gasly or zhou or hulkenberg could beat both both max and sergio or hamilton or even alonso. We never know. That's the beauty of formula 1 in my opinion.
Poor drugovich I think his F1 career is over. Honda will want a Japanese driver in that second Honda 🎉seat at AM and lance isn't going anywhere unless he wants to. So many young talented drivers who we're sold a F1 dream only to sit on the outside never given an opportunity to show their talent thus their sacrifices are for nothing
