- In this video, I'll be showcasing some Alex tech I've learned over the years that I feel really helpful, interesting and/or seriously underutilized. I hope players of all skill can learn something from this video, or at least enjoy watching it. I put a lot of effort into this, so I hope someone out there enjoys it.

Thanks for the kind words! I think I might be the first to bring to light the cr Jab kara. Nobody seems to know about it and no Alex players out there use it at all.
As you guys can see in the follow-up addendum, I learned how to fix that nasty fucking frame blending and other bullshit but I don't really feel like doing that and reuploading unless it's some high-demand shit.

Nice Music in the video thats the key part of any good tutorial video to keep viewers trapped by good ass music xD, especially Thunder Force IV - Lightning Strikes Again, Metal Squad did a sick cover on it
While making this, I was undecided on using the original or throwing that SSH cover in there. I thought I had the latter on my PC but it turns out I didn't so I just went with the OST.
@@SpitShineT0mmy i would recomend get a program called Jdownloader2 that enables one to download youtube videons with just the link in m4a format and some other formats as well, then you can just convert to MP3 afterwards if you want nice music for free and ifs its unavaleble on another platform.

I hear some of that classic Streets of Rage 2 character select theme, but the Unreal Tournament GOTY 1999 music was classick! That announcer, too!
@@metalslugfest Thanks! UT and Quake are some of my games and I thought it would be a perfect choice for some oppressive, fast-paced high damage combo section (the part where the song picks up during the Ibuki clip was total coincidence and it worked out beautifully).
The announcer is actually a mix of Quake and UT2004 announcers, I just took whichever one had a phrase that suited my purpose.

For those wondering about that catchy song at 10:46 its Kakyoin's theme from Jojos HFTF.
The kazuya set up mixes well with the lp combo into sa2 (close lp, crouch lp, crouch lp xx SA2)
That combo is really hard to do and I honestly think it's really impractical and silly. Especially LK does it so much better
@@SpitShineT0mmy is like shotos cr lk cr lk xx super. Not hard to do at all plus if you use close lp lp powerbomb tick your opponent might press buttons in between. Again is all about mixing it up. Oh wait i think the combo is close lpx2 crouch lp xx sa2
@@locoghoul The way I see it, it's not like it at all since 1) it's not a low and 2) You can't buffer the super or else you get flash chop.

Trying this stuff on 15th AC for PS2. No such luck yet. Pad player too.
I remember an anti-throw tech with Alex was to kara cancel standing roundhouse into flash chop, since it moves you back outside of throw range. Unlike SJC flash chops, it puts you outside of throw range completely, instead of being throw invuln at the beginning. Besides situations when cornered, wouldn't this be more useful than SJC flash chops?
HK kara doesn't beat most command or kara throws at all and when it does work, it puts you further out potentially limiting your your followup options. I'm also not entirely sure, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you can cancel certain things with a (super?) jump that can't be done with a button. I could very well be wrong but I think you can immediately superjump after jumping to the other side of someone where you otherwise can't block.

I realized why Dudley gets hit by headbutt while crouching the other day: his throwbox while hit crouching just gets extremely wide for no reason
Really funny to look at if you're curious, it doesn't match the animation at all
It’s not useful but after a headbutt kill Alex’s light kick resets the ko animation. Every other light ko animation gets knocked down but Alex is the only character I know who loops this in this one specific circumstance.
Knowing your post-KO combos is important! If an opponent goes into a crumple state post-KO, you can hit them with a LP and launch them into DAS BOOT (HK)

Something sorta useless about Alex: for some reason headbutt will not connect on a stunned Hugo, I haven't tested it on any other characters and I don't know why it happens.
I'm pretty sure Hugo is in a crouch state when he's stunned. I don't know if he's technically in a crouch state or if only his grab box is, but it's whatever either way. You just gotta remember to not style with Headbutt/DDT for the KO.
why is DDT unsafe on hit against chun and makoto, but not against other characters with quicker wakeup?
