      @@NuclearGalactus no. In this scenario they are just looking at the bees leaving and entering the honeycomb. For that they are using machine learning on computer vision, not for finding out how they are dying. That just doesn't make sense.

    • @NuclearGalactus
      @NuclearGalactus Před 4 lety

      @@SahilP2648 They are doing both. ML is great for identifying features that are associated with trends. Find the features in the location dataset weighted with bee death, especially over time and you find the cause.

    • @SahilP2648
      @SahilP2648 Před 4 lety

      @@NuclearGalactus I mean if you are talking very broadly, anything from forest cover, to types of fruits, flowers, temperature, air quality, human lifestyle, population density etc. can affect the lifecycles of these bees. But then you would literally have to use this all across the world, in every country, in every city and with the correct model only can you find exactly what is causing the bees to go extinct. Also that is a huge maybe. So no, what you are saying also doesn't make sense sorry.

    In this video they showed only a monitoring system in the bee hive. They did not show any other monitoring system or sources of data that measures external events such as tree plantation schedule or harvest schedule. Can a singular set of data of hive activity be indicative of external events? So, I am assuming they are running this test against geographic location based data that google has collected like google maps data.

    What this video and concept may have missed:
    1. Wild, native bee species populations are far more endangered than domesticated (artificial hive) honeybees and are far more important to maintaining ecosystem strength than the latter.
    2. We do know some important dangers posed to bee populations. Two examples are: the Nosema apis fungal pathogen decimating certain American native bee populations and the lack of native pollinating crops due to anthropogenic constructions which leave native bees without a pollination source.
