    My pair had 3 chicks but my Diamond dove (it's a communal flight) very interestingly and unexpectedly decided she wanted to squeeze into their box and lay her egg there. Sadly 2 babies were crushed in the process and the 3rd died the next day. I removed the perch that allowed her to get in, Gave her her own nest and am now awaiting a fresh clutch.

    Love this video! How much seed in grams do you recommend for each bird, each day? Looking it up, it says around half their body weight but a big percentage of the diet needs to be fruit and veg so I’m not sure on the ratio. Any tips?

    I have a question.
    I have two finches (male & female) and 4 days ago I noticed an egg in their nest, but I was reading online that they lay an egg per day and anywhere from 2-7 eggs, but mine has only laid one. Is that normal or should I be worried?

    Sex-linked so males are split (they're XX) females are XY, so if they get one CFW (or fawn) gene they show it.

    Hi, I have a pair of white ones, I call the female ‘snow’ she always lay eggs since I put a nest in their cage but none are getting hatched😔 what’s wrong with the eggs? I threw away their eggs after 3 weeks and she would lay new ones😊
    I see they alternate sitting with the eggs so I’m puzzled no babies so far

    I’m curious how you catch your finches when they make it out of their cage. I keep zebras (only a pair indoors) but don’t ever know the best way. Usually I end up tossing a tea towel over the escapee when they land on a bookshelf or window. I just notice you often have a bird out and figured you might have a tip!

    to answer the question... you dont start seeing eggs until a few days after they have Mated whether you see it or not. eggs dont come from out of the sky. they have to mate.

    • @obito7143
      @obito7143 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes if you pair them they'll do mate and breed too
      But don't do that
      It's not good for their genes
      Always pair birds from different parents
      👍

    • @obito7143

      @@thehcorps it's not good bcz the new chicks will have problems physically like they can have problems with their legs like spreading legs
      So it's better not to pair eith parents ir siblings
