The Forest of Fire scene was my favorite part of Civil War. Really beautiful
Everything from the wonderland scene to the siege is top tier filmmaking by Alex Garland
yeah, so many of these scenes are just simply beautiful. Every frame is a piece of art. This movie deserves to get nominated for cinematography.
oh yeah. I would re-watch that movie just for that scene.
beautiful but also tragic too.
Cine💯🗿👌🫡
Who's here from Civil War?
Spoiler
I cried when Sammy get shot and died 😢😢😢😢😢😢
🕺🏼
Yes
Yes
Shazam’d it right in the theater
Civil War showed me this banger. That entire scene of them driving through the burning forest while Sammy was dying was just phenomenal.
Just back from seeing the movie and immediately sought out this song.
Hell Yeah!
Mate , and that's how you connect movie with a song. None of this "who's here from" bullshit
Spoilers!
Legit cried…absolutely beautiful scene
Joel having a complete breakdown during the lyrics "It's all a dream" was the most memorable part of the movie. Civil War knows how to make you care about a character, that you've only seen for an hour, but feel like you've known him for a lifetime.
"Yeah you knew him. The man you were with, that's who he was."
That was honestly my favorite shot from the film. Really impactful moment.
Truly powerful
Agreed, him with a cigarette in his hand trying to jump to his vices, screaming as the soldiers walk behind him without looking his way assuming they’ve been through it and or don’t care. One of the many shots from this movie I’ve been thinking about. As depressing as it is I always find a bit of joy getting to experience good filmmaking.❤
Same. My mind keeps going back to the forest fire scene and Joel screaming. His scream seemed so visceral and real even though it was silent. He really was the audience in that moment. Beautiful song.
Joel felt he was responsible for the death of Sammy and his friends. If he had not allowed Jessie to get into the other car or tried to prevent it they would have taken a different route.
Who is also here because of Alex Garlands Civil War?
Me 😂 hello from the UK
Just heard today but two different versions sung by him with different tempos. Strange.
Yes…. This song was the only good part about the movie. Snoozefest
Me
this part of the movie was such a combination of comforting but also saddening. what a movie
I can’t stop crying after hearing that song in the Civil War. That scene was just so…. devastating 😢😢😢
Best scene in the movie hands down. Absolutely heartbreaking
Agreed
Damn good song damn good movie damn good scene
Ikr
YES IT WAS. My god I haven't cried that hard in a long time. Tearing up now just thinking about it.
Just watched the movie “Civil War” and fell in love with this song.
Me 2, movie was ok.
It seems there are a lot of us that feel the same way ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
same
Same here
Joel's cries when he was grieving sammy's death was a beautiful and heartbreaking scene.
YES. My crying went next level there.
This song will forever haunt me. That scene on Civil War, that death, the idea of American turning on itself, just heartbreaking. There's beauty in sadness and there's sadness in beauty. Thank you Mr. Simpson. Thank you Mr. Garland. Thank you cast of Civil War. May we all find what we need from the film and the song.
Sammy was the GOAT. THE GOAT! 😢
Good ass movie singing this shit in the theater
yes he made the ultimate sacrifice saving all three of them, Sammy had the most heroic act in the film. And to see that at the end of the movie, Jessie simply walked away after Lee fell for her, as if nothing had happened, I had that "WTF" in my mind, she was so amoral. It also made Sammy's sacrifice looked in vain.
I did think that, then I had a rethink and came to the conclusion that apart from us assuming where Jessie's head was at, I mostly figured that what they went and were going through, we can 'only imagine' @@Bohemian0522
What a movie, what a scene, what a song
One of the best movie of this 2024
@@Fafuolo229sleeper too, it was advertised like it was a bad ass action movie but it was a deep heartfelt drama, I really liked the story. I don’t know what it is but when a movie involves journalist or guys or girls with a camera the film always turns out great for the most part. This movie was cool but also had a very impactful story.
Watched Civil War last night, now I cant stop listening to this song, so beautiful 😍💕
R.I.P. Sammy
The best character of Civil war... Rip Sammy
@@Fafuolo229😂😂😂broke my heart
Although he couldn’t run. He was still my favourite.
R.I.P Sammy. You was the only reasonable one out of the four.
He took one for the team man. I loved him dawg grieving him and the movie with this song playing along with thinking about life in what I’ve been dealing with which it was making me do. It was hard to hold back tears bro, I now have a new song to cry to every night now.
Love, love, loved this movie.
Sad facts
This song is mainly the reason I made it through my miscarriage. I had it on repeat in my car for weeks, months maybe. One day I got on here to listen & where the heart slips out of the baby carriage... I just lost it. Thank you, Sturgill, for finding the words for my pain but also leading me up & out of it. "Breathing & moving are healing & soothing away all the pain in life, holding you down..." I have no words to describe how yours have healed me.
I'm with you. ❤
I lost my son at one and a half months old. My heart goes out to you and we have matching scars caused by the worst thing a parent can go through. My name on here is my real name. I live in Painesville Ohio. If you ever need to talk or vent , look me up on Facebook and send me a message and I'd be more than happy to listen. My girlfriend would as well if you need an understanding female who lost a baby and is working through it. I know a mother's love is unique. It actually would help her very much to talk to another mother who has been through the loss of a child. If you don't want to talk to her or me, that's perfectly understandable. But I want you to know that seeing comments like yours makes us not feel so alone. God bless you and I'm going to pray for you. Oh yeah. These songs on this album have helped me grieve as well. I can feel my son's presence In them. Isn't it beautiful? Sturgills music is very special.
Oooof heres to all those lost in such a way. May you never be forgotten. I really love the soul sturgill puts into his music and am glad people like you could find solace in it.
🤗💔🥰🙏🕊
When he screams in slow motion when Sammy died....that was cinema for me.The song just made the moment bitter sweet.❤
That raw scream....
I went from "I don't know who Sturgill Simpson is" to "Sturgill Simpson is one of the best musicians on the planet" in about ten seconds flat. This song is absolutely incredible.
btssilence exactly what happened to me it only took a song to become a fan
I did the same thing now I am loving all of his music and streaming and streaming it all now
Same as you all! Hes the man
@Michael Pryor no fucking joke. He gave me the most horrific ego death
So did I
Thank you Civil War and Alex for sharing this damn beautiful classic with us! R.I.P Sammy!
sammy gave his life for the group
This song belongs in no category except being one of the most simply pure and beautiful songs I have ever heard.
A fantastic song for a fantastic scene. This was a great choice.
Reminds me of driving to Washington to photograph the president
Same dude!
Yeah, I remember that time. 😁
That was a good time
Don't let them kill him bro
Yea same I witnessed it
The burnings embers, the beauty, the grace, Sammy reaching up to touch them on his journey to an eternally peaceful sleep...an image forever etched in my mind.
I feel like this is the only place I’ve found my people who actually liked Civil War! Fantastic film and a fantastic song.
Love ya’ll ❤
It honestly felt overwhelming, there was such an immense sense of sadness, gratitude, and worry at the same time. Watching someone die as they smile, from the high to the deepest lows, and somehow you felt happy for Sammy to go the way he did seeing those embers.
It’s something only movies can do at times.
@@edwinacuna8500the discourse the movie has drummed up makes me sad. Feels like people have entirely missed the point. Political agendas aside it’s just a masterfully crafted piece of art. Thanks for the comment!
The only people that disliked the movie are the ones that won't understand (because they don't want to) that this is not a divisive movie. It's not speaking in favor of war, but the total opposite.
@@cesargranados9972It's a film that's sounding the alarm for our country!
Thank you Sturgill for returning the integrity back to country music. Right as I had given up on country becoming nothing but cheap product placement so shallow and vapid, you present a soul.
one of the best singer song writers in the world right now in any genre.
Damn well said
I've never liked country, but if there's more artists like this I may be interested
A few other country artists keeping it real that you should know about: Whitey Morgan, Cody Jinks, Luke Bell, Eric Strickland. Luke Bell just released his first cd last week and he's really good.
+Shesse4 thanx . can't wait to listen:)
This song makes me want to grieve the loss of my journalistic colleague
It’s chilling how much a song can fill you with emotions while visually watching a masterpiece
Lol, far from a masterpiece but yes, this song is phenomenal.
@@ComedyBros5do you know what an opinion is?
@@heyitsjacoby I'm well aware but you stated it like a fact. I'm just responding that I found it to be nowhere near a masterpiece.
@@ComedyBros5 good for you my guy
This song is so beautiful it breaks my heart. I cried the first time I heard this song, then cried again when I read the lyrics. What a fucking masterpiece.
“We need to stop. I can’t drive”
😔💔
How dare you remind me of that devastating moment :(
Man was a legend
He died like a real hero: saving the lives of his friends 😢😢
Man, at first I thought he was making a little joke. But no...
cinematography + this song = magical movie moment
Feeling a bit lost in life and this one is hitting all the right notes today, thanks Sturgill for writing songs with meaning.
I hope you found yourself. I'm feeling a bit lost myself these days.
If Civil War brought you here don't stop with this one, Sturgill has a ton of bangers. "turtles all the way down" is one of his most popular and the "Sound and Fury" album is his take on rock which is full of great songs.
Loved this song also and I am in no way a Country fan.
I'll keep it in mind
Ok but which ones sound like this...if their 100% different not worth tbh
I don’t plan on stopping here. I don’t even rock with country like that but dam. This shit hit me hard. Really hard. About cried in the theater.
@@SerkeysTV "I don't mind" kinda has the same feel. So does "Hero".
Looks like I’m not the only one who Shazam’d this song during that ‘Civil War’ scene 🥲
🙋♀️ me too…beautiful song
R.I.P. Sammy from civil war!
My uncle has been sick for a very long time I went to visit him because I was told he wasn’t going to live much longer he said he wanted a song to play as he passed, he chose this song. I cried the entire time. It was so beautiful
Sturgill is one of the few artist who can make an album entirely different from anything he's ever done and it still be amazing. I love the album. Come back to Georgia soon!
+Dex Aspen This album doesn't sound much like Metamodern.. I'm not sure what you're listening to.
This song is so beautiful and haunting. There’s a hope within it and a certain melancholia. Pure.
Who's here after ,,civil war,,
just watched the film last night the scene with this song was one of my favorite parts
Oh shit I thought I was the only one
🥺 me!
Me.
Led Zeppelin, Nirvana,Tool, Deftones, Mars Volta, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, TV on the Radio, and Childish Gambino, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline are what i have been spinning lately.
"In Bloom" brought me here, Sturgill's music will keep me here.
Beautiful music.
Thank You Mr. Simpson
YES
Hope you’re still listening to TOOL. Most talented and enlightening band that ever lived right there.
I listen to all that and more and have owned 31 guitars, a home studio, basses, keyboards the whole shibang, I just started listening to this after 23 years of playing and never knew about it. It gripped my soul like no other music I've ever listened to. Almost perfect
Them riding through the forest fire while this playing in the background was one of most beautiful piece of cinematic moment i witnessed in a long time❤
Like a much needed trip, you have me realizing how beautiful and finite this life really is. Thank you Sturgil
Sturgill helped me get through one hell of a Shitty year
Me too brother. I honestly don't know what I would have done without him. Cancer and Divorce make for shitty year.
Keep on keepin' on my dude your not alone. Good luck out there.
Same.
A24 Civil War brought me here. What a needle drop!
Here from Civil War, by far my favorite movie of the year, and now I can’t stop listening to this beautiful song
the only song I've ever.....let ......break my heart.....heard it on the radio and had to pull over...its so beautiful....it tourmented me for a few years and I avoided it for a very long time.....but I came back recently.......and its still hurting and moving me beyond words......never before has a song haunted me so deeply, so beautiful ...Mr Sturgill Simpson... .what a talent, and what song......thank you 🐾
Oh, how the breakers roar
They keep pulling me farther from shore
Thoughts turn to a love so kind
Just to keep me from losing my mind
So enticing, deep dark seas
It's so easy to drown in the dream
Oh, and everything is not what it seems
This life is but a dream
Shatter illusions that hold your spirit down
Open up your heart and you'll find love all around
Breathing and moving are healing
And soothing away
All the pain in life holding you down
Bone break and heals
Oh, but heartaches can kill
From the inside, so it seems
Oh, I'm telling you it's all a dream
It's all a dream
It's all a dream
It's all a dream
It's all a...
It's all a dream

Way to go Sturgill. Don't stop at 5. Listening to you is like going to church.
Can't think of a better way to put it.
Exactly!
Civil War is easily one of the best 5 movies of this year, idgaf if we still have 8 months left of it
I lost my mom to covid on April 3rd of this year. This song always seems to get me to express the grief.
agreed rory,
This man is restoring Americana and country music, taking it back to its roots.
God bless Sturgil Simpson
‘Civil War’ brought me here!
I'm so glad I found people here that actually really enjoyed Civil War as much as I did! c:
Just watched civil war in cinema
I fall in love with this song
Breathing and moving are healing and soothing.
Away all the pain in your life holding u down.
I'm a old school country fan, ETC, DAC, Bellamy Brother's, Milsap, this guy is bringing the lyrical side to another level, also uses ALL the instruments, I think he is the next big thing if he keeps up what he's doing.
Civil War brought me here. Beautiful voice! “Keep me from losing my mind….” Triumph and love y’all 💜 🙏
this is one of the prettiest soul touching songs I've ever heard in my life and the video is beautiful, sturgill is one of the most underrated artist alive, fucking love his covers as well, I never thought i would hear a country singer cover Nirvana and truly make it his own like he doe's for in bloom, and he also pulls the cover of the promise off beautifully as well, I actually like it better than the original💜🎵💜🎵💜🎵💜🎵💜🎵💜
I'm an ol' school country fool, and very few of today's so-called country singers do it for me. This cat...he does it for me. It was love at first listen. This current body of work is FAB! It gave me the exact feeling I had when I first listened to Beck's Morning Phase. I got still and quiet because I didn't want to miss a note. And we all know what happened with Morning Phase now, don't we? =-)
An epic song in an epic film. The scene with the burning trees, when Sammy looks out the window, the sparks, that's what you go to the cinema for. I saw Civil War three times in Imax, once in German and twice in the original version, in the original version it's even a bit better.
A forgotten dream lost in the wave of humanity that washes over us all.
Isn’t it beautiful? Forest fire in the night.
Civil War 2024 movie
This song will forever be what comes to mind while seeing the United States tear itself apart. Civil War was depressing, and seeing your own soldiers kill each other bothered me after serving in the Army. I hope people took the message home with them, that this isn't something you want.
No one is a winner, just factions with no humanity left.
From what I’ve seen/heard not many people came out of this movie with anything besides thinking it was boring or didn’t take a side/make a point. Bums me out, but I’m glad I found other people who enjoyed it!
I just watched it today and agree with everything you said. I'm an Army veteran myself. The thought of going to war with people I served really terrified me personally. The relationships you've built would be wiped out due to different beliefs and ideologies. Soldiers fighting for a tyrant president is chilling to even think about
@@JohnnyLancastthe fact that everything about it was not only what I had expected, but that it exceeded my expectations at times with such a powerful message has made it one of my favorite movies
@@Ray__EThat's exactly what Trump tried to do as President when there were all of those protesters on Pennsylvania Ave. He wanted the military called to sweep away all of those protesters. Luckily for our country the top brass did not comply with his wishes.
I thought it was an astounding film. Heartbreaking and devastating. It should make us all take stock of ourselves in these toxic political times. No, this is a future we do not want to endure.
Anyone circle back here after seeing the movie Civil War that just came out?
Most beautiful scene ive ever seen
This is a guy who busked outside the CMA awards with his grammy at his feet. I know there's a place for bro and pop country. But none of those fools can hold a candle to Strugil Simpson, Jason Isbell, Sam Lewis, or Stapleton. I'm glad there are beacons of light in a sea of excrement.
Amazing. Beautiful. Lovely. Timeless. Healing.
Thank you.
If this song were a cookie, it would be a great cookie.
Yeah
Most underated CZcams comment ever!
So beautiful
Definitely a "special cookie" 🍪
The mass grave scene in this movie is genuinly one of the most scary and harrowing scenes I've ever seen!
Lee, Sammy, Tony, Bohai, y'all be missed...
*sobbing*
The soft darkness envelopes them like a warm blanket comforting a shipwreck victim who has lost everything and is now alone in the world.
On repeat man. Just one of those days...
You, Isbell, and I all had a child around the same time. Our war stories are all the same. 10 years ago, I got busted on I-81 and detoxed in Sullivan County, TN Jail. I now only partake in the nouns in "Turtles". I wish I could express the Love for my daughter as much as your record does for your son. "Love is the only thing that ever save my Life." 'Wish I'd done this 10 years ago." So beautiful bro. Peace, Love, and Happiness...
I’m also discovered this song because of Civil War but it’s the imagery of the music video that keeps bringing me back. The car crash, the soldier, the baby carriage, the broken hearts, and someone (the mermaid) who comes to lift you up when you’re down. Heavy and sad, but beautiful and uplifting at the same time.
EIGHT YEARS AGO!? I have been missing this song for eight years, that's too bad. Incredible song!
Sammy lives on in this song. Never forget...
Such a beautiful gift delivered with such tenderness. You are adored, Sturgill 🎉🤍✨
Sturgill has a way of carrying it through time and space with so much meaning and power in his music it's like taking me down a path or journey. Great song
I've found some of the most amazing songs/artists, from movie soundtracks. Thank you, Civil War and Sturgill Simpson, for introducing me to this masterpiece!
One of the best needle drops in a film in awhile so beautiful and tragic
i love this song. it's a song that always evokes some sort of feeling with in me, mostly it's like i don't know if i should cry or just lie on my back in a meadow somewhere and look at the clouds
Exact thoughts..
Anthony Jimenez yup
I just discovered this song and that's exactly how I feel 💜
As in the movie, everything goes quiet around me as I listen to this song, and see I Sammy reaching out for the beautiful burning embers, as he embarks on his peaceful journey, while Joel screams silently into ethereal nothingness, knowing part of his humanity is forever lost...
Who’s here after seeing Civil war?
The songs we discover in movies 🔥! Two months after the release of Civil War I finally watched it and this song stuck out.❤
In the midst of very bad moments in my life I swam out into Galveston Beach on a day when there was no lifeguards, I swam out so damn far and nobody knew I was out there. It was either die or swim back and I chose to swim back. This song is the closest resemblance of that moment... Life can suck at times but there really are people out there that understand.
I was in Malta. Bad time in my life. I decided to swim out. I’m a decent swimmer. I was over my head, current caught me and I thought I was done. Managed to feverishly swim myself towards shallower ground. It’s a process, a long, horrible, challenging process but you’ll get through it- and when you do, it’s so, so worth it.
glad both u and op are still here@@carmenlov4739
Hope you’re in a better place brother
Simple drums with a bouncing rhythm. Love it.
I can't stop listening to this
I found this because I saw the record at a record store and thought the cover art was awesome and that it would be a metal/hardcore band or something punk but was actually surprised to find GOOD country music lol.
Yea it reminds me of Parkway Drive's album artwork.
Must have been sound of fury. Either way welcome, it is an amazing find!
Man, is this a song. Transcends genre altogether and evokes some serious emotion.
And ya, “Civil War” forest fire scene and Joel’s reaction made this especially special.
The scene was so powerful. Pure cinema. Devastating.
I'm not crying! You're crying!
Dane Ryan amazing song
So desearving to win the Grammy...each and every song from the A sailors guide to earth,is wonderful.
Shame only trash that says its country get awards. Plenty of country like this out there the rest is awful shame that's what's mainstream.
Brought me back to a memory that I’d forgotten… Needed this to keep sanity. Memories are a BLESSING and a BEAUTIFUL THING,❤ thank you who posted this. Much love to you!
"So enticing, deep, dark seas. It's so easy, drowning in your dreams" amazing song, amazing songwriter 💗
Fucking beautiful. Hauntingly, but gorgeous, man.
Paused the movie just to come and listen to this song.
I know this might be a awkward way of being here, but who's here because they heard it in Civil War 2024 movie😢🥺 death not be proud, RIP to Sammy
The burning embers falling softly around him, like stars, on his journey to a more peaceful place in the universe...
I love it when movies introduce me with such beautiful songs, which also elevates the movies by tenfold.
This song means the fucking world to me. That last verse speaks to my relationship with my younger brother to a tee. He broke my collar bone, then months later he took his own life. It was a long trail of bad relationship, him giving up on this life. All I can say is man I couldn't have wrote better lyrics for what I feel when I hear that last verse.
Civil war great movie. Epic scene in movie history. Pain of your country ripping itself apart and losing a friend in the process.
Absolutely incredible song. I also served in the 7th Fleet, and I've never heard anything that captures the feeling like the first minute of fifteen seconds of this song does. Every time I hear it, I am instantly transported back to the smoke pit at 2am after getting relieved from watch. Everything else about this is so beautiful too. I'm just glad this song got made.
I'm not someone who ever listens to country music. like ever. at all. but this man has such soul, such love for his art. it's truly inspiring. it's quite a breath of fresh air, honestly. Super glad a friend of mine told me to check him out.
Most people wept openly in the darkness of the theater as this song came on, as we bore silent witness to the Sammy's death, after which, you could have heard a pin drop.
