Compared to the N64 version, yes, but I think some lines are delivered better in the 3DS version, for instance, when Andross says 'Only I have the brains to rule Lylat' it's more intimidating here than in the N64, where it sounds a bit off, that's just my opinion of course.
*Definitely* Andross, he sounds robotic in the remake, whereas he sounded truly sinister, and alien, in the original. Not to mention his dimension in the original looked more surreal, with the afterimages and echoes. And keeping the Japanese VA's laughter and anguished cries helped as well, made you *feel* like you'd descended into the heart of evil.
One improvement I enjoyed was you could tell those were andross's eye this time around. As an 8 year old I wondered why andross's brain had worms at the end of lightning tendrils in the n64 versions
This has to be the darkest part of the starfox series. I mean, imagine having a giant biomechanically enhanced brain with tentacles following you around, uses telepathy, trying to kill you, and can even TELEPORT BEHIND YOU.
The Andross voice is so lame. The laugh in 64 added to the horror of seeing Andross like this and that you’re facing a monster at this point. 64 3D just goes “ha ha ha”. Spooky...
They made the remake much easier Star Wolf II do bro barrel row nearly as much, their ships are actually lower stats than the original. In the original, the Wolften II truly outclassed your own ship in terms of speed; firepower and turning rate so you as the player has to make up the different in stats with your skill. The only thing the Arwing has over the Wolften II is better acceleration due to the G Dfusor
There's two modes in this remake, and this is the 3D Mode that rebalances the difficulty and target scores for a medal in each stage. Classic Mode retains the original difficulty.
I think this is probably the best way to play this game however the only problem I have is the voice acting it's not bad but I think the delivery and voices were better in the original I'm not sure why they couldn't just use the original voice clips since we know they have them uncompressed
ok that "dissapearing" of james was a little anticlimatic. In the n64 it vanished flawlesly and in here it just like "now you see me, now you dont" lol. Aside from that, they missed one little detail in this ending cutscene that is seen in the original, you can see a shotting star right in front of the great fox in between the top lef wing and the neck of the ship on the n64 game, were as here is completly missing at 10:21
