It’s crazy how the best coach dc had since Gibbs retired was Gibbs unretiring lol.
Santana Moss in 2005 was on another level. He has 1483 receiving yards, and the next closest WR on the roster had barely over 200. No, that's not a typo. The next closet WR on the roster had 1200 fewer yards that Moss did. Moss carried that unit by himself.
Just one pro bowl though. That is quite surprising to me.
@@Miller2h41 Yeah, and the 2005 season was that one season. Dude was very underrated. Washington traded for him after the 2004 season, but they could've had him a lot sooner. Dan Snyder wanted to draft him back in 2001, but he was overruled. It's rare to have a situation where Snyder was in actually in the right.
@@KMC5240 The needs and the wants vary for every team. Whatever they needed to address at the time outweighed the wants.
@@Miller2h41 Steve Smith good that year
The yac he was getting for such a small guy was nuts
Sean Taylor forever! 🙌🏿🕊
Miami legend
This was actually the last team in Washington franchise history that won a NFL playoff game.
What a beautiful team it was, Sean Taylor (RIP), Clinton Portis, Santana Moss, + more
Please don't remind me
I thought they won one 2012 with rg3
@@aheazzy28 They lost to Seattle and Rg3 got hurt

R.I.P. Sean Taylor and David Patten 🕊🕊🕊
Shaun Alexander was the league MVP when he scored 25 TDs, a new record until LT surpassed that mark the next year
@Keith Cousins no on asked
It was 28 total tds 27 rushing 1 receiving
Damn the very next yr the record got broke damn!!!
He was never the same after
The most rushing TD’s for a season record that was broken was held by Redskins John Riggins to that point.
I miss the fox scoreboard and how it was really digitalized. So sick!
For both Football and baseball
I like the fox scoreboard now
I can’t believe Ray Brown was 42 and still in the league in 2005! He played for St. Louis Football Cardinals!
Does anyone get scared at how fast time flies? 2005 feels like it was yesterday and now it’s been 16 years already….
Yeah really freaks me out too. It doesn't feel that long ago.
Omg yes I was so young back then
Yeah bro i grew up watching moss and Alexander ken Hamlin shit like that bro i was 5 years old
@@b_lake8312 me like 7 and years later Russell Wilson came in the nfl
2005 was my favorite year for movies and I remember watching them in theaters like it was yesterday
Longest Yard, Star Wars Episode 3, King Kong, Batman Begins, Madagascar, War of the Worlds, Charlie Chocolate Factory, Wedding Crashers, etc.
Washington’s offense really looked a lot like the classic Joe Gibbs teams from the early ‘80s here. A power running game that opened up play action for the QB and his small, shifty receivers and versatile tight ends. The ‘05 O line wasn’t quite The Hogs but Samuels was a solid anchor. These were some of the first names I ever knew as a young fan of this franchise.
Clinton Portis was very underrated. Baller
That block in the third quarter by Santana moss was crazy😂😂
Mark Brunell was an underrated QB.
Didn’t he used to be on the Jaguars?
Yes.
@@bryceshea8030 didn't Google used to exist?
He was still somewhat productive with Washy
@@bryceshea8030 and a packers qb
Surprising to me that Santana Moss went to only one pro bowl his entire career.
I love when the skins and hawks get together. I always bet the under. Their games tend to be low scoring like this one here, 20-17 or 14-10 type of games
I had forgotten that Mark Brunell played for the 'Skins for a time.
Glad he finally got a Super Bowl Ring with the Saints.
Yea people forget originally a green bay packers backup
Throwback game suggestions for this week:

Sean Taylor 🕊️🕊️
This is probably one of my favorite scoreboards that fox used. The only things I wish it had is the sound effect for when a team scores like the old one, and the record of the teams like today's one. But other than those 2. This is one of my favorite scoreboards. Yup random thing about a classic game.
I feel the same way. Fox hasn't had a scoreboard I've liked since. Wish they'd try going back.
@@astrostar49 yeah or maybe redue the old one and maybe add new features to it. Anything other than the plain one.
I do like how the current one kind of harkens back to this style in some ways. It's the best one they've had in a long time because of it.
Shaun Alexander, one of the more under appreciated rbs of the 2000s
Oh Yeah He Was Man, Best Running Back In Football History.
I miss this time period. Its very nostalgic to me. We had guys like Moss, Portis, Sean Taylor was still with us. We were the Redskins. The stadium was full of Redskins fans and not dominated by away team fans. I miss it.
Exactly bro very nostalgic I miss THIS team soooo much ❤️it’s crazy… this team made me cry so much when we lost but man I’d be over the moon all week if we won… I just don’t have the same connection with this team today like in these days HTTR💯
It’s weird imagining a time when FedEx Field was actually advantageous to us. Today we find ourselves having a 12-28 home record over the last five years from the date of this comment (11/28/23). Really hope Josh Harris has it in him to turn this around. HTTR.
Rip Sean Taylor he died 14 years ago yesterday
We all miss that guy as the best safety in the nfl

Remember this just like yesterday down in Bradenton Florida at a redskins restaurant and thought we blew it when Seattle almost made that kick before overtime but we came back & won!!!
Interesting year for the Seahawks because they were so good and made it to the super bowl but they did not get a lot of media attention. Most of their games were on Fox and called by Ron Pitts and Tim Ryan (featured in this one) or by Curt Menefee and J.C. Pearson, both being lower tier crews for Fox. Perhaps much of that was due to some lopsided matchups (their divisional opponents were bad this year), but Seattle was never much of a featured team through this time.
That was some good game. Washington had a good game against Seattle and Shawn Alexander. Both teams did good. Nice Job Washington on the win in overtime with the game winning field goal.
2012 wild card game 8 years ago a friend of mine from high school was at that game and he was furious
The 2005 Seahawks. 7 years before Russel Wilson
Thanks, mathematician!
Please give us more Washington highlights from seasons other than 2012
To this day, I thought this team could win a championship
I thought so too but unlike the Wilson Seahawks of the 2010s, they didn’t have much of a defense. I think whoever they played in the Super Bowl that year they were going to lose to them.
Yes
So the Seahawks haven’t lost at Washington since 2005😃That’s streak will continue!! Get em Big Game Russ!!!!
😂😂😂
I witnessed one of those road wins live in 2014. Seattle was a scary team then, given that they won the Super Bowl months prior. The fact that pre-prime Kirk Cousins kept us within 10 points of them without turning the ball over was a win for me. The Seahawk players also stayed in the same hotel as me and I ended up saying hi to Marshawn Lynch so that was also pretty cool!
RIP Sean Taylor..
I'll always be a Washington fan 4L but this era was probably the last time they were really good and it's crazy to say that because they have more talent than ever now !
This was my first ever live NFL game! Happy to see my birds in person!
Sean Taylor will live on in football lore forever!
The announcers didn't announce the Washington QB until the OT session. I didn't know who he was.
As a Washington fan I love this comment. Why? Because it basically confirms the fact that we are not a QB-driven team. So many people in our fanbase want to draft a QB with our second overall pick. I don’t. I want to trade it down so we can get younger at other positions which have taken a dip in recent years…point being take a look at the most successful Redskin teams. Who was quarterbacking them? It almost didn’t matter. While Theismann, Williams/Schroeder and Rypien played well at the helm, none of them are HoFers. They didn’t need to be. If they could hand the ball off and execute play action, then they could thrive. The Hogs were our lifeblood. Defense was almost never a weak point, with Mann & Manley up front and Darrell Green in the secondary. Though I wasn’t alive for this era of Washington football, I’ll forever long for the day that this team returns to its true football identity.
RIP Mr Taylor!!!
If you could, please upload the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft
Classic old NFL this Seahawks team went to the sb that year too

YOU LIKE THAT! I’ll admit I wasn’t the biggest Kirk fan at the time (I was 15 and upset about RG3) but that game will forever be his second big career-defining moment. His first was stepping in for RG3 after he initially hurt his knee against the Ravens, throwing a dime to Garçon and taking the QB draw in for the 2 to force OT. Richard Crawford did the rest…ahh memories…

The announcers here are terrible.
Amazing to look back and see how little shotgun was used
These were simpler times. When you needed a yard, you lined up under center and ran it straight up the middle. No silly shotgun draws or option plays like we see today (I’m talking to you Ron Rivera/Eric Bieniemy). Just hard-nosed football. Granted the Eagles have sort of redefined this concept with the Tush Push
