- The long-awaited Aston Martin DB11 has arrived, and it's here to truly start a new era for the British brand after a long period with the DB9 as their lead GT car.
DB11 has maintained a V12 engine, critical for the sound, while adding twin turbocharging to increase power to 600bhp and efficiency in the process. Mated to an 8sp ZF gearbox, some trick aero functionality and some clever design and technology, it marks a significant upgrade on previous generation Astons.
Most importantly, what's it like to drive? Well, I certainly enjoyed it! Watch to find out more.

I still like the 13 years old one better... Which is the DB9... That may not look as mean but that does feel more elegant... And that's the most I care from a car... Elegance... Especially for a GT car

Same here. The front and rear view of this are good, and inside it's good, but the side and top-down view don't work for me. It looks bulbous, like a figure 8. It's the Kim Kardashian of cars, wide up top and down below but a skinny-ish waist. It robs the cabin of probably 6 inches total width. I can really see why people are saying the DB9 looks better, it looks less freakish.
+Alien OrSutin I agree 100%. This seems like a srep backwards. This will have to grow on me. Dbs and vanquish are two of the best looking cars of all time imo.
+Tayman Gaming Agree with the DBS, not a fan of the tail lights and wing on the Vanquish... DBS is pretty much perfect engine and exterior-wise, it just lacks a bit in the interior just like all AM's... The DB11 will also have to grow on me, the rear especially is hard to find good looking for me..

+jayaybe1 I was being sarcastic. Stones most certainly will get kicked up through the front fenders at some point.
I really loved two things which they sadly took out of the old car: the sapphire key you had to plug in the center dash, and the quirky counter clockwise RPM needle.
That key was terrible, took way too much time to start the car, took up too much pocket space, and new solid starter button is a much cleaner design.
+Travis Olson that new key looks even more like a brick. Unless you are a woman or euro man with a purse it will be annoying to carry in your pants pocket.

Does it sound that loud in the cabin, or are there any external mics? It's exactly how loud i'd like it to be! Especially for this car!

No the car is not at all based on the S Coupe. The only thing that is MB is the electronics, everything else is AM this includes engine, body, drive train, etc..
suntzu861 you're quite wrong. AMG has supplied engines for a while now to Aston Martin. The V12 in the Vanquish was AMG, so is this one and the DB9 might have been the same. In case you're also unaware Mercedes-Benz own Aston Martin
MB have a 5% stake in Aston. Its hardly ownership. the V12 engine used in previous platforms derived from Ford's V6 and were then manufactured in Germany in the same plant as AMG
Schmee150 I absolutely love how you describe your first initial impressions, unfiltered and direct. On the technical side it is really helpful how you breakdown the exterior/interior components and also show on camera the different displays; how and what changes (temp/fluid levels etc) with driving /damper modes switches. Always entertaining and informative, great video!

Really professional review Tim, and clear to see the enthusiasm you have for Aston cars. I think if I was in the market for a GT DB11 would have to be a serious contender maybe with the GTC4 Lusso, though the Aston is usefully cheaper, Ferrari not going to come in much under 300K!

had the opportunity to get inside this very same car at the Geneva motor show... what an amazing piece of engineering! beautiful, elegant and sporty as every good aston has to be...

The problem with the DB11 is all the journalists are lying saying it's beautiful because that is the stereotypically done thing when reviewing Astons, I'm sorry but this is a fussy design and a lot of it looks like its been done to shut up people who say they all look the same! Great engineering but not a looker.
I think that's down to personal opinion, perhaps it has much more elegance when you see it in person?

I'm not really sold on the huge chin scoop. It is a GT car, they should have gone for looks over pure aero.
+Edward Keane - Well keeping British I would say the F-type is a much classier looking car.
Saw the DB11 at the Festival of speed at Goodwood and fell in love with it there and then, what's even better about it is there's all the upgraded aero, performance, tech and looks making it a lot better than the previous DB9 and as it is the predecessor to the DB9 hopefully it should actually be affordable in times to come!!!

The only thing missing in your garage is a proper GT like the DB11! you shouldn't get another track focused car like the Vantage GT8/ AMG GT-R since you travel a lot, the DB11 would be perfect for all your roadtrips...
I quite like the more sporty feel so something like the AMG GT R sits in the GT category while still being a very involving drive.
Now I see why you have chosen the AMG GT- R , and you're right! The DB11 is more about luxury and comfort, we can only hope for a sportier version like what they did with the DB9/ DBS.
Just a question: Is there other style of rims that you can choose for the spec of the car?

Floris Hazewinkel I'm not changing my mind that quick, he was just explaining to me why he took the AMG GTR over any other GT car and i respect his choice, but if i was him with the same actual garage i will without any doubt add the DB11.

The last little bit where he talks about it being an "elegant brute" is the absolute perfect description for it. The DB11 is definitely a great step up for Aston Martin.

Man, this car looks BADASS but in my opinion with an engine like that, it should produce more PSs. I don't know but maybe the turbos don't produce much boost and that's why, the exhaust sounds almost like N/A engine. Just thinking...
that is because aston chose to use smaller turbos wich retain more engine sound but produce less power , they also have little to no turbo lagg making it feel like a N/A engine

It's a GT after all, not a full on super sports car. I heard that same engine has been tested to over 800bhp, so just wait for the new Vanquish.
It'll produce more power, but in the Vanquish or whatever it's called.

FastTeam11 That's an evolutionary design language. I'm no design major, but they have come a long way (longer than you think) from the original 911 in my opinion.
It probably will look prettier in person, as most things do. That's why most journalists call it beautiful.

These cars look amazing. I saw one in a traffic jam on a motorway a few days ago. :) I think it was the same colour as this one.
Interesting point at 12:47 regarding being "too positive about cars", it is intriguing to hear about the little quirks all cars have. Makes them more relatable.

I LOVE the sound of Aston's high-torque starters, then the exhaust bark when it comes to life.
This is one of those cars you have to see in person. It's EXTREMELY good looking in the flesh, in my opinion. Wasn't sold on photos and videos.

Really nice car, and love the sound. It's hard for me to judge the interior because I'm not the demographic for this car, but to me it lacks some wow factor that doesn't live up to the great exterior, engine and sound.

Hey +Shmee150 ! I am not 100% sure on this, but when I sold cars (Nissan and Hyundai), that little speaker you pointed to @19:50 I believe is the microphone for the voice command and bluetooth. That is what it looks like on lower tier cars at least.
Tim, how is the gearbox compared to the older models , since the sportshift feels like utter **** in first & second gear.. also you have to reset them sometimes.. it's beter when u shift with the paddles but still :p
It's nice to see AM finally put something in the center console. I always hated looking at that square whole wear the transmission shifter used to be (in their automatic models)
