Freddie's voice is a real mystery. They have already written their name in the history of music. Their music will be performed and mixed in a hundred years, just like Mozart and Beetoven. Freddie left his legacy to us. for joy.
Years ago I requested people react to this song - so glad to see it! Nothing better than Freddie at his piano. Imagine being in the audience having heard WHITE QUEEN or FLICK OF THE WRIST and then this! Not having heard it on an album or on the radio before. QUEEN and FREDDIE set a high bar for all those that follow.
Hauntingly gorgeous. Feels like he singing to you. What a gift he was. Miss seeing Queen concerts with Freddie. 😢
Great reaction!! The piano part of this song is written in the Japanese pentatonic scale, not our European major scale. So, yes, Freddie shows here his incredible composer and musician skills.
Imagine, the Hyde Park concert 1976 was a free open air show with 150.000 visitors, not only Queen fans. And Freddie was so brave to perform this mellow song with all these falsettos. He was a class of his own.
And the funny thing is he actually performed the song, before even recording it :D
“You take my breath away” is one of my favorite songs.... simply magnificent performance... just Freddie and the piano..., with the complicity of the night... with a crowd listening in silence .., Freddie sings full of heart... full of emotions... what a voice..!!!
Made me goosebumps...
Thanks a lot for your reaction, when he’s singing... your face was astonished, like mine when I heard this version for the first time.
Studio version have more harmonies... and it’s absolutely beautiful too... but this version with just the piano, it’s amazing!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰
I also prefer this version. It is so "simple" and pure, Freddie is pouring out his broken heart to us, all his love, all his feelings, even his posture shows his feelings. You just want to go and jug Freddie and tell him everything will be ok. The studio version is also beautiful.with wonderful harmonies, but loses the intimate feel of the live one.
Diane Fowler ... oh yes dear Diana 🥰🥰... you can put in words my feeling..,! Sometime I don’t find the rights words... I’m always learning... and now I have a new and unique word : pouring out.
And you’re right again... the intimacy of the live version is not the same in studio version. And it’s a contradiction, if you think about, because this intimacy was achieved in the middle of a silent crowd..!!! Freddie was unique.!! 🥰🥰
Big hugs and kisses to you dear Diana, from Chile 🇨🇱
@@dianefowler8779 I do agree with you. This is pure, emotional singing and very moving.
I’ve been a Queen fan for most my life. I’ve never seen this live version, so thank you.
He was quite something, our Freddie. A true one off.
Freddie....no other words ...just perfection💖
Awesome..just Freddie and the piano...just beautiful... Freddie always thought he was mediocre on the piano. He was amazing.
Oh yeah, his piano skills. You have to see White Queen live at Hammersmith, a virtuoso performance
Oh yes, I love White Queen live at Hammersmith. Very unusual. Like a gothic love story.
Karen j it was
White Queen at Hammersmith tends to have copyright problems. It's wonderful and fascinating, but the reactor has to interrupt to avoid restrictions from youtube.
Yes I get chills evertime I watch that
@@flyingcloud6776 If he uses the video from Queen's Official channel, he shouldn't have problems; I've watched many MANY of CZcams reactors' videos for this one. : )
He was a baddie ❤️🔥 his voice in itself is like a beautiful instrument a unique one and his piano skills we’re off the roof every time I listen to this song gives me goosebumps he sings that so well and mind you it is live that’s him singing right there no tweaking of his voice with any computerized hacks he is still the best the legend absolutely love him ‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Freddie at his best!! Oh, who am I kidding, Freddie was the best anytime anyplace!! One of my all time favorite performances, and the recorded version although different is equally incredible. I would love to suggest Queen, Save Me at the 1981 Montreal concert. I love that concert! Great reaction, thanks!
Great choice, Save Me is phenomenal.
@@joannedarley1893 Yes, Save me in Montreal 81 is wonderful.
This song gives me chills, it's still got rock influence, but the main verse-man his voice just transforms into full on Disney prince. Such an underrated song.
Have you ever heard anything so haunting? The emotion he could wring out of the piano paired with his magic voice was insane!
Loved watching your face as the music affected you. It almost brings me to tears when I see someone introduced to a Queen song for the first time. There's a special elation I experience when I see their musical creations touch a new convert. It cements the truth that Queen and of course, Freddie WILL live forever.
This may be one of my top 3 songs in the world! It’s my favorite Freddie Mercury song. Hauntingly beautiful.
every girl and some of the guys are wishing he was singing this to them. It just makes you fall in love with him with all that passion in his voice. We miss you Freddie. RIP
Yes there is an album version.
It is good.
But nothing like the live in Hyde park version.
This was raw an uncut.
He never ever sang it again like this, with such vulnerability.
It truly is a masterpiece and one of a kind.
The very essence of pure emotion and pure beauty. Incredible indeed, Now listen to the studio version and what they did to it. Master songwriters and musicians
I love that second when the audience is stunned! And look at his posture.
Love that you said that. I'm constantly impressed with his posture. Live Aid performance makes me try to stand up straight :)
My another favorite song from Freddie is The March of the Black Queen, masterpiece ❤️
This is the most beautifully sung love song. Great reaction🙏😍
The Live version gives me goosebumps... Because it's pure and full of Freddie's emotions... He sings it so passionately beautiful, like he really misses his beau that moment and cries out for him!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Freddie and this song takes my breath away 😍💖 There is an official album version from A Day At The Races!!
Hello my friend. So, just listen to the studio version..
I don't have words to tell you how much I love it.
Yes, there is a studio recorded version of this with the Queen signature harmonies that will make your hair stand on end. It’s amazing, but for me, this live version with its simplicity is so beautiful. Just Freddie and his piano, he didn’t need all the bells and whistles, pyrotechnics and special effects that a lot of artists use these days. Just sublime talent. I am really enjoying your reactions, and because you give some intelligent analysis at the end, I’ve subscribed, nice to join you. Can I make a couple of suggestions? Everything at Wembley was amazing, but my favourite is Now I’m Here, and if you haven’t already done it, Love of my Life. Prepare to be amazed
Thank you, Lewis. Your description is perfect. White Queen Live at Hammersmith will blow you away too. Very unusual. The mood it creates is medieval.
It was
Freddie was Pure Genius ❤❤
Also, his vibrato is second to none 👍
The master at work...and this is how you control over 160,000 people and leave them speechless, if I had to pick a favourite live performance, this is in my top two, the other one being White Queen live at the Odeon.
Yes, there is an album version, and it is very pretty, with wonderful harmonies and more instrumentation, but this live version is far more beautiful in its exquisite simplicity!
You can see clearly that he wrote it.
Spectacular
Thank you very much
The audio version is awesome too.
You must do the studio version, Freddie does all the harmonies himself
Karen j ... and is something out of this world..!!! ✅✅✅✅
Big hugs dear Karen ... from Chile 🇨🇱
@@MargotRecabarren The studio version just takes the breath away!
Saludos compatriota 🇨🇱
He was that accurate with the harmony lines they actually phased on the tape!
Everything they did was great. Try Save me 1981 Montreal. White Queen.
Listen to the version on the record and compare. The genius behind Queen is their ability to improvise. They were ALWAYS voted the #1 live band. They steal the show .
You want to hear Freddie's composition skills, the studio version is loaded with harmonies and they are all Freddie's voice done on multiple tracks, mind blowing
There is a studio (official/lyric) version! It is beautiful too but this live version is incredible. Freddie was amazing in every way . . . 💜👑
You really need to listen to the recording. He really fleshed it out. And Brian’s contribution to it is outstanding. All the vocals are Freddie.
There’s a stunning studio version. Freddie’s vocals only, layers upon layers.
This is 100% Freddie.
Please share the studio version reaction with us. I can't wait!
Im just happy i saw this genius twice
This was a free concert, I was there with the American Ambassadors 15 year old son, and boy did we have a great day out.
You should give the studio version a listen. VERY different...and ALL Freddie. The piano winds up being much more complex on the studio version, but oh so exquisite.
You can start to see all their concert, absolutley overwelming amazing. Thank you for your beauty react, to a beauty song 💕
There is an album version and it is also amazing. I prefer the live version because it just feels so intimate and ethereal. The album track is much more polished...the harmonies are fantastic!
Wonderful song and the album version is even better
This version is by far better then the over-produced album version.
Great reaction. I've enjoyed all your reaction. In 1976 Queen decided to give a free concert in Hyde Park to show appreciation for their fans. ~150,000 people were in attendance. It was a rowdy crowd as you can tell from the initial noise which grew silent in awe. Freddie had just recently written this song and if you look closely you will see two sides of Freddie that are normally not on display. His vulnerable side in presenting his newly written 'baby' to a group of people who might or might not like it. And, once he fell into the song, you will get glimpses of the soul of the man that was Freddie that he rarely exposed to the world. I am so glad you loved it. I prefer this version to the studio version (which is also beautiful_ because it is just Freddie and his piano raw. Here's the link for the official/album version. czcams.com/video/VqY7t1EdDIw/video.html
wow, beautiful description!
Yea there is an album version, but this raw live performance is the best
I prefer the studio version. Has all the harmonies in it Whole diff song. Need to do studio version unbelievable 🤘🏼👍
Lewis, Lewis, Lewis, I am still very patiently waiting to see you react to the amazing studio version of this song. Trust me on this one.
For a rock band they wrote amazing ballads ,could you react to save me live at Montreal ,amazing performance ,thanks stay safe ,from Liverpool UK x
Just beautiful ❤❤❤❤
70's Queen!
I love how he shakes his head n disbelief, I did too when I saw it live in 1978.
Check out White queen live at hammersmith. Amazing
Awesome reaction. Genuine astonishment. And the feeling never goes away. This piano line haunts me.....extra-ordinary composition with relatively few notes but artfully chosen.
Freddie was great on the piano though he felt that he was only adequate and later opted to not play piano and hire someone to do that so he could just sing and be the frontman. If you want to hear Freddie's piano skills, react to White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith. He and Brian do an instrumental chase for over a minute that is just outstanding. There is an album version of this song which is more Queen-esque with incredible harmonies though this live version still is my favorite verson of this song.
One of my favourites songs!! Freddie ♾️
Usually Queen goes from a soft song to a hard one but this was soft almost all the way. A ballad. It is good.
White Queen live at the Odeon also shows off Freddie's mad piano skills
The album song is beyond beautiful
Wow 🥰 beautiful Freddie ❤️ we still love you Freddie ❤️
There is a video with background harmonies- but this- yes Sir- CHILLS!
I was there! And they were amazing, I don't remember any of the other acts apart from Kiki Dee performing 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' her collab with Elton John, but I was only there for Queen and Freddy Mercury, I was lucky enough to see them a few times and they always delivered. And this is one of my favourites, thanks for watching :)
A masterpiece😆
Great reaction! Thank you for being quite during the song….I really dislike people who feel a “need” to make comments…. Yes we know he has a great voice…
This is on A Day At The Races and is equally amazing. This is currently my favourite Queen song. I think I've played it everyday for the past month.
The first rock concert I ever saw was Queen from this tour in Providence, RI. Thanks for reacting to that and bringing it all back to me!
Maravilhoso! Linda voz! Melhor cantor de todos!
Album "A Day at the Races"includes "You Take My Breath Away"
As Freddie said, this song had not yet been recorded for the album A Day At The Races. The album version is as perfect as it gets! You cheat yourself every second that you put off hearing this genuine masterpiece. Please select the remastered version. It puts any live version to utter shame!
Both this and the studio versions are incredible. I personally prefer this but I will not put down those who prefer the studio version. Both are utter masterclasses of musical ability
The b st love song ever, IMO. ❤️❤️❤️
I love my millennials. Yes!!
And you show me we all gonna be ok. Y’all have heart✨👏✨
Album version is cosmically beautiful
I really can't wait to see you react to the studio version
Can't wait to see you react to the studio version
Thank you!! This is a beautiful beautiful song and the record is good but the live version is outstanding and out of this world!!!
Queen gave two or three free concerts in London & I know of at least 2 in Hyde Park. Wow! This was back before they were really making money after leaving Trident production group and joining forces with John Reed for 2 years. From 1977 on Queen manage all of their business and Jim Beach was their so-called manager, but mostly attorney. John Deacon was the business brains of the bunch and he handled all of the financial Monetary Part. John is the bass player and was the youngest and last member to join the group in 1971.
The band was abd and still is legendary Lewis , enjoy mate
Freddie you take My Breath away.i going yo tell you when i find you...i love you
you really need to listen to the studio version. It is phenominal
Yes, there is the álbum versión of this song is very similar but with a lot of chorous I prefer in general Queen live ! You can hear it on A day at the races album
QUEEN NEVER DIE
Another great reaction! You are right Freddie was an amazing composer, and people don't really realize it, he always had interesting cord progressions and key changes. Even something which sounds simple such as We Are The Champions have amazing key changes. Luckily more and more people are starting to study Freddie's compositions, he was a better songwriter, composer and piano player then people realize. You really need to listen to more early Queen. Such as The March Of The Black Queen, czcams.com/video/SoBMhx_ap_g/video.html. A comparison would be nice, they are different but both versions are excellent! If you want to listen to something else masterful Freddie produced you should check out something from his Barcelona album, The Golden Boy czcams.com/video/-iCY-noGbas/video.html or Barcelona czcams.com/video/hkskujG0UYc/video.html.
**Zenobia** dear Zenobia, I’m totally agree with you!!!! ✅✅👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Golden Boy is amazing!
Another little gem of information about Freddie:
As many of us know, Freddie loved opera and he was an intelligent composer... mixing and learning through the classics to make a beautiful songs.
Just to share a little more..., on the theme “It’s a hard life”, the beginning of the theme is a part of an opera piece taken from IL PAGLIACCI, by Ruggero Leoncavallo ... !! And FREDDIE sings those notes like a Pavarotti ..., in the same tenor register. The versatility, creative and interpretive capacity of FREDDIE was incredible !! 💔💔💔💔
Freddie was much more cultured than anybody can imagine.
@@MargotRecabarren Hey, hey Margot! Yes, you have added the perfect information. Freddie loved opera and studied a lot of different music. You can find a lot of classical and jazz cord progression in Freddie's songs.
**Zenobia** I love to learn with you..!!!
Big hugs and kisses to you from Chile 🇨🇱 dear friend!!
@Margot Recabarren 😘
Not many people realize, that "We are the Champions" is in fact a waltz.
Es el MEJOR DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS!! NO HAY NI HABRÁ NADIE JAMÁS QUE LO IGUALE. LO AMO CON TODA MI ALMA. ❤
Oh freddie rrally takes my breathe away..react some more queen songs, and their hideden gems too cool cat, its a hard life, all dead all dead, play the game, back chat, millionaure's waltz etc...
He was GENIUS
Yes, there's an album version. And that will also take your breath away!
It's a masterpiece for sure. Try, please try Melancholy Blues. It really shows Freddy's range. Its beautiful.
If you think this is beautiful, you should hear" lap of the Gods" 1974 at Hammersmith!!!! Roger Taylor, drummer & singer, is absolutely astonishing!!❤❤❤❤
White queen at hammersmith odean
Joan Burnley yes, most definitely! It showcases all of the groups’ talents and is one of the most amazing live performances! Hammersmith Odeon 1975 White Queen!
He did it already
There is an album version to this and it's beautiful as well if you want to see Freddy's piano styles at their finest in my opinion do White Queen a night at the Hammersmith Odeon
And this folks was a free concert
Gracias por tu reacción a la Reina suprema 👑✨💫🌠
We had some amazing music in the ‘70’s! I like this version better than the album version. You should check out some of the solo work of Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. The two best guitarists in the world.
Still waiting to see you react to the studio version of this.
'In the lap of the God's revisited' live is great and 'White Queen ' live at Hammersmith are sublime💗
I'm still patiently waiting for you to check out the studio version of this song
Please, please, please do the studio version of this
For an exemplar of Freddie's piano skills, check out My Melancholy Blues.
Notice how silent the audience becomes
