Sounds like the best option is to not fish anywhere around California because it is too confusing as to what is legal.
Hi Chad, sorry you're confused. What are you specifically trying to target? Maybe we can be of more assistance :)
Fr this shit dumb asf
@@FishingBooker Hi, I'm not Chad but agree with him. I for example just want to take my 10yrs kid surf fishing from the shore. I understand that the 10yr old doesn't need a license but do I if I'm just there to help and supervise? Can you help with that? Thank you.
Hi @@thecritico, thanks for watching! Yes, we're more than happy to help. According to CA state law, you'll need to obtain a fishing license if you're assisting with the fishing process in any way. This includes everything from baiting hooks to setting the drag. As you mentioned of course, your 10-year old doesn't need one but since you will be helping him it's probably a good idea to get one for yourself. We hope this helps and let us know if you have any other questions. Tight lines đŁ

Hi. I just want to know if i will go for a charter fishing or kayak fishing in california... as an adult what permit do i need to purchase? Im a califirnia resident.
Hi there, thanks for watching! The licenses are the same whether you're fishing in freshwater or saltwater, on a charter boat or on your own kayak. It really depends on how long you plan on fishing for. There are everything from 1-day, 2-day, 10-day, annual, and lifetime licenses available. Just keep in mind that you have to have a report card to target Sturgeon, Steelhead, Salmon, or spiny lobster. For more info you can head over to our full blog post at the top of the description or let us know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps! Tight lines đŁ
Last year a was stop by a game warden and asked for license and no problem there. He told me at least where I was (Monterey Bay - Santa Cruz area) that I could have as many poles as I wanted with out having a multiple pole license. Can you confirm if this is true? I know on the pier no license and 2 poles max is the law. Thanks for any info.
Hi there, thanks for watching! As far as we're concerned, "max two poles per person" is the law of the land. This includes public piers, jetties and breakwaters. We're not aware of Santa Cruz County having any special requirements, other than Santa Cruz Harbor Breakwater East & West, where a fishing license is required. You can find more information at wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean/Beach-Fishing or by contacting the California Department of Fish and Wildlife directly.
@@FishingBooker ended up calling a local tackle shop and they said that you can have as many Pole as you want on the beach. So for your viewers on the next update, you can let them know. Thanks for responding.
You also do not need a fishing tag to fish off a pier đ„
Like me I don't have credit cards only cash so how much it cost for holl year đ€
Hi Jerry,
For residents, annual licenses cost $51.02, for non-residents they are $137.73. Hereâs our full blog for more info: fshb.kr/5yp41.

Bay area is one rod only unless otherwise posted or on private property then it's 2
Hi, thanks for the additional info đ
I'm from WA state i can only buy a 10 day? Not a 1 or 2 day? That's what i understood
Hi Cisco,
You can buy a 1-day, 2-day, 10-day, or an annual license as a non-resident. California residents, on the other hand, cannot purchase a 10-day license, as it is only available to non-residents, such as yourself. Hereâs our full blog article for more info: fshb.kr/5yp41.

fish in lake and ocean . there is no difference . correct? same license?
Yes, when you buy a California fishing license you are eligible to fish in both freshwater and saltwater. However keep in mind, if you plan on fishing south of Point Arguello in Santa Barbara County on a 10-day license or more, you'll have to purchase an Ocean Enhancement Validation stamp for $5.97. One to two-day licenses come with this stamp included. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback, we were a very young channel at that point and have improved our production processes a lot since then.
Do you need to take a class first for a fishing license or can you just buy one?
No class needed. You just have to purchase one either online at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife or at one of their license sales offices. You can also buy one at Walmart, Big 5 Sporting Goods, local tackle shops, and other licensed retailers throughout the state. For more info, you can check out our blog in the description section. Hope this helps!
Why should I buy a license if iam backpacking in a wilderness for food?
Hi there, thanks for watching! The enforcement of fishing licenses and other regulations helps ensure the protection of vulnerable fish populations. It helps limit overfishing and other illegal fishing practices, plus all the funds collected go into programs designed to protect wild habitat. Hope this answers your question and tight lines!
Iâm 23 and Iâm gonna get money to get a boat and license and retire :)
Now that sounds like a plan đ đ
So does a non resident teen under 16 need a fishing license or what
Hi Aj, thanks for watching. Non-residents under the age of 16 don't need to purchase a fishing license. For more info, you can check out our blog by clicking on the link above the description. Hope this helps đ
