  • I dropped an initial walkaround of the truck quite a while ago as well as an updated video about a year ago. Since then, the truck has undergone some pretty extreme upgrades including a new roof rack, new roof top tent, a new awning, new rear leaf springs, and new wheels and tires to name a few.
    On this episode of Xterra talk, I'm going to take you all around the truck from top to bottom to show you the current state of the modifications, which are focused on Overlanding. If you have any questions or want to know anything that I didn't capture in the video, just drop a comment!
    Otherwise, there are links below to everything mentioned to make finding stuff as easy as possible. I've also added timestamps/chapters to the video so you can easily skip around if there's a particular part of the truck you want to learn about. Thanks for watching!

    I have an 06 and we live in the woods. 6 speed 4 wheel drive. I'm slowly upgrading. Thank you for the video. It's helpful.

      Awesome! Those 6 speeds are great and getting harder to find. Glad it was helpful!

    Hey Fletch, because of you I just bought an 05 pathfinder. Couldn't find a nice enough xterra with 4wd. So thank you!!!

      I love the Pathfinders too. I've actually been eyeing them in case something happens to the Xterra. Wouldn't mind a V8 Pathy someday. Congrats!

      Hope you enjoy the Pathfinder. I loved my 05 Pathy before I went to the Xterra. Make sure you check for the SMOD correction. It was probably already done, but its a big deal- mine was fixed before I got it.

    Great vid - thanks for sharing! Got my 2014 Xterra Pro-4x in 11/2020 & have spent the last 5 months gearing up. Many ideas I've gotten from you - particularly Wam bumper and roof rack (working on a few others, so may come back to pick your brain). Just spent some time in the last week in Mark Twain Nat Forrest in Missouri. Had a blast. Who knows - maybe I'll run into you in the UP, eh?

    Nice tires! Yeah, we're in that stage/phase running AT tires bc the MTs are so noisy on road (and we use our truck on road a lot). May look into something like these in the future 👍

    I have a crew cab Frontier so a bit different direction for me but some solid ideas. 2in medium duty lift with a RTT and all my storage is removable from my bed for daily driving. Still working out skid plates and waiting for my AT tires to wear down so I can go back to the Wrangler Dura Tracs like I had on my '95 Toyota. Dig those Kenda's!

    Good video. I've been very impressed with my cali raised ditch lights for the price, no moisture and bright. I'm considering Rust Bullet for problem areas the stuff has very good reviews.

    Hi! I love remote camping and off roading with my 2005 Xterra. I have a little lift. My tires have recently bit the dust. I have read alot about KO2's ( not exactly budget friendly but seem to have great reviews) however your Kenda's seem really nice. I am wondering if you had any thoughts on the matter. I live in the PNW and I do tackle mud ( lots of mud) over any other terrain.

      I personally really love the Kenda Klever RT's and have had them on 3 Nissan trucks now. They do great in pretty much all weather and while aggressive enough for offroad use, they are still relatively quiet on the road. I love them and will likely run them on all my offroad trucks going forward.

    I love my X - have done almost nothing to it except ad tires, miles, and some "trail pinstripes" - oh and a vent extension for the rear axle.

    Our silverado is all stock suspension right now, and honestly not sure if it's a good idea to lift it/block it. It's a full size 3/4 ton truck that we also use for our homestead/farm (hauling livestock). If it was a dedicated rig l, maybe. What do you think?

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding  Před 3 lety +1

      Depends I guess. Honestly, if I was you and I used it for work, I'd just leave it stock and modify your trips to account for it.

    So I just got a 15 Xterra and I have been watching plenty of videos to see how to mount at RTT on the stock rack. I am thinking you probably can’t. But Nobody in their videos say what they mount the tent on. So what do you mount it on?

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding  Před 3 lety

      Hey Logan. I actually made my own DIY roof rack for about $100 from unistrut which is what I mounted mine too. Here’s a video I made about how I did it if it helps! czcams.com/video/HmoGAGgyh0o/video.html

      That truck had this Eonon double din touchscreen android unit in it. They have some other updated ones, but this one is super cheap now. Here's a link to that specific one (and check out the other recommended ones to see their newer headunits): amzn.to/46Lcj9n. I loved it, but I'm sure the newer/faster ones are even better.
