Good to see you're back in the game mate, I have been reading some of the released battalion war diaries from ww1 available from the national archives. Always find your videos a good reference point when searching these, so I have both a written and visual standpoint to gain a better understanding of this terrifying moment of history. Greeting from Sydney, Australia
Thank you for watching. I would like to go to Galipolli as my great uncle served there. He was wounded twice and still only 16. Unfortunately not sure when ir if I can go due to cost.
Having watched the marvelous film, read the interesting book and studied the After the Battle articles, I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for filming and editing it for us. Also, a very belated thanks for all your Great War videos, especially of the Franco-German parts of the front such as Massiges, Hartmanwillerkopf, Verdun, etc.
My first UK trip included a visit to Herne Bay Museum to see a bouncing bomb prototype and then I visited Derwent River Dam where they apparently done training runs before the mission. So honoured to have been able to visit these sites. Great video. Cheers.
Good video Steven, must go back there and take my drone. Not been there since 1989 when I was in the RAF and doing work out at Gütersloh, from North Luffenham. I can remember walking out to the middle and wondering how the hell they managed that at night at almost zero feet without modern navigation equipment. Lest We Forget
@@StevenUpton14-18 yes me too. There was a series on tv a few years back and the wanted to see if modern day RAF pilots and navigators could fly the Dambusters mission. They did it but they found it very difficult.
4FG3+J8 Aalter (wandelknooppunt77) not far from where I live, there is one slab of concrete left from the airfield, still though there are bunkers around. There is a museum as well 5GQ2+H3 Maldegem and the Canadian CWGC cemetary next to the museum. Two tanks from the Operation Switchback are still there in Adegem. Greets Simon
Thank you for watching. Unfortunately I lost my drone in February in Switzerland, so although I will be visiting Verdun next month I will not be filming.
@@StevenUpton14-18 I´m sorry to hear you lost the drone. Hopefully ypu get a new one some time? Oh nice, have a nice journey? Nice season for visiting Verdun I guess? Maybe harder to see some traces in the green foliage?
Thanks for taking us all there and glad your drone stayed airborne :)
Thank you for watching. It was very scary flying over water for so long.
Marvellous video. I appreciate all the work you put into these historic videos. Thanks Steven…🇬🇧

Hi Steven, enjoyed this video. Nice to see you have ventured into WWII. My family were RAF during WWII so it was nice to see your video.
Thank you for watching.
Most amazing use of the drone! Amazing. (Steven, suggestion: ANZAC Cove would be a highly suitable subject for more battlefield detective work!)

Thank you for watching and your encouraging comments. I hope to be back on the Somme in February.
This popped up in my feed toga just after Johnny Johnson died . I met him few years ago at East Kirby with Barnes Wallis’s daughter . RIP Johnny
Thank you for watching. I just read today about Johnny's passing. The last of the Dam Busters.

Thank you for watching. I always wonder how they found specific targets in a blacked out Europe.

Well done. Thanks for the film.
Thank you for watching.
Very interesting video. Steven, I didn't know you ventured out of WW1 and into WW2. I do hope you have some more WW2 planned. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching. I happened to be near the dams in August and decided to film them. Also my personal connection to 617 squadron.
Brilliant video my friend

Surreal how peaceful it seems…
Thank you for watching. I filmed this early in the morning to avoid people. I know from a previous visit that the dam can get very crowded.
8:06 you are mixing up Möhnetalsperre (Drone footage) and Edertalsperre (historical picture) - But of course you know - Best regards
Thank you for watching.

I have no plans to go to Normandy at present.
Beautiful footage.
The plan was quite audacious wasn't it. Yet they managed to pull it off, even if it was seemingly all for not
Thank you for watching.
The allies sure committed their fare of atrocities

Pretty amazing flying with Lancasters... Hat´s off boys! Amazing raid.

Just curious, went back and looked on some vids.. Working on any new ones? :)
