As a Norwegian I can confirm we often travel to Spain for vacation.
Like half of my friends are going there, and so am I.
Personally I prefer to just go to Sweden or something, to mock their language (don’t argue against that unless you speak Swedish or Norwegian) also I can just drive over a bridge to get there

So, about the Mongol Empire thing, when they 'conquered' Tibet, it was in era of fragmentation after the Tibetan Empire sadly collapsed because of Buddhism and Bon. Mongolia didn't have to invade them because they simply gave them a choice and the Tibetan powers peacefully were integrated.
