Great friendly vibe with this video and congrats on the new turntable Jeffery Lee! So many good reasons to love this Scout 1.1 including the high level of adjustability and tweakability!
@@LetThereBeSound1 cheers to that!
Always nice to see Jeffrey Lee. Congrats on the new table!
Also eventually went to a VPI Scout and as you said, a noticable difference.
Sometimes the hype is real. Haha
@@JLeeeP I bought a Prime Scout from Upscale Audio where they upgrade the platter and put the 10.5 inch arm on.
A VPI scout has been on my shopping list for a few years now, looks like you're pretty happy with it
No complaints!
This was a fun video AND educational...!!
Much appreciated
I swear you 2 could be brothers...lol...Congrats JLP on the new TT
The VPI is a solid choice. I've listened to mine for almost 25 years (HW 19, Aries Black Knight Platter, SME 309 tonearm). It will support most any high end cartridge you can mount on it. Looks like you got one of the very musical wood bodied Grados. Brooklyn and New Jersey represent. Happy listening.
Certainly agree with you. I had an HW-19 MK III with SME 309 combo for over 30 years and it worked flawlessly the whole time. Thinking I was old and probably done with hifi, I gave it to my nephew a few months ago. Returned home to realize that I still had a few hundred LPs and nothing to play them on, so am building another (very modest) system with a VPI Scout front end.
Congrats Jeffrey, that is a gorgeous turntable!! Great video- I always enjoy watching you guys together 👍
Thanks Christi
Congrats on the new turntable Jeffrey lee. Love the VPI decks. Have the Classic 1 that I enjoy immensely.
Never heard one live but have read alot of good comments about it. Congrats J.Lee and Happy spinning!
Jeffrey Lee Puckett congratulations on your new VPI it looks amazing one day I hope to own this monster of a turntable Bill Evans Waltz for Debby is a killer album to play Bob thanks for sharing luv it guys. Lovellandrew
You the man Lovell! Salute
Congratulations to Jeffrey. That was a turntable I was considering. It's a beauty.
I remember, both of you got great tables. Now I need to resist the feeling I need to go shopping 🙃! Cheers
Great review. I don’t have any experience with VPI, but my turntable is Clearaudio. They make great tables and the support you mentioned really is world class. ~Jason
I'm a Clearaudio fan all day long. I'll never get rid of my Concept.
good move Jeffrey Lee Pucket! I think you will really enjoy your table. The VPI stuff is awesome, I have had a few of the VPI tables... Please join us on the VPI Forum where we share knowledge and music.
Very cool. When I need a new table a VPI will be on a very short list. My LP12 is from 1981, so I figure I've got a few years left.
That LP12 will outlive you lol
@@JLeeeP Hah! One way or the other, you're probably right.
That is so great. Well done.
Enjoyed your video. Nice to see an audiophile musician..went straight to Bandcamp for a download--love it.
Thank you much appreciated!
More Jeffrey Lee please!
Nice deck
Congratz! I feel a little TT envy myself 😎🤘🤘
The VPI Scouts 1.0 and 1.1 are incredibly musical decks, and a great bargain at their used price. I have a Prime, and frankly I think I've given up some of the PRAT of my old Scout for a lot more money. I would look for a used SDS speed control for an immediate and obvious improvement, the notes 'really lock in'. Also, look for a used JMW 9 arm to mount another cart on to make cart swapping quick and easy. I'd get a center weight too. Nice choice!
BTW, the male part of the bearing ("pointy thing") is made of stainless steel, is insanely sharp (don't touch) and is replaceable.
I've owned three VPI's and I've always been satisfied with their tables. Their tonearms, well, not always.
I had a VPI Classic v.1 and I was always tripped out by that uni pivot. Unfortunately I dropped it on the floor and screwed it up. Now I have a Rega that I’m happy with.
Congrats Jeffery Lee on your Scout 1.1. I’ve owned one for four years. Enjoy the Unipivot arm and the fun swapping carts. It takes patience. I will never sell mine as it looks wonderful.
I bought the metal alignment jig and the VPI aluminum screw clamp.
I heard that same track on a very expensive setup (Lyra Titan, Nottingham Turntable, Nagra VPS Phono Stage with ARC power amp into Vandersgeen Quattro speakers.....if you get the detail up far enough, you can hear on My Foolish Heart a couple getting a divorce in the crowd......BLEW ME AWAY !!
Lol! See now I have to go listen.. cheers
@@BOBBRADLEYCHANNEL I believe it's near the end of the song, in the final cadence phrase....near there you hear "I can't take this anymore" from a younger male voice.
linn axis VPI KILLER
Right on! Hey, you have ADSL 810s right? I finally found a pair. I love them!
All-time greats!
@@JLeeeP Absolutely!
I just bought a new turntable. It’s a Well Tempered Classic. The tonearm is suspended by fishing line into this thick gelatinous goo. So far so good. It’s a definite upgrade from the old Lenco I was using.
Does yours have a golf ball at the pivot? I think it's Well Tempered that used to do that.
@@JLeeeP mine doesn’t have the golf ball, as cool as that would be! It’s an earlier version that uses a disk. Same concept though.
Always regretted selling my VPI Aries Scout, preferring it over my Well Tempered Amadeus. One day I might just buy another...
Curious how he compares it to the Rocsan. I have a Radius 5 upgraded to 7. Lived with it for quite a while. Happy, but curious. Mine has a Nima unipivot tonearm.
I’ll see if Jeffrey Lee will respond 🤓
I've never heard a 7 so can't speak directly to that, but I'd say that the main difference is that I get noticeably more information out of the records via the Scout. Not tremendously more, but noticeable. If for some reason all of my turntables disappeared or broke except for my Radius 5, I'd be fine.
@@JLeeeP Thanks loads. Enjoy that VPI and the music. The 7 is just the 5 with a new improved motor.
If it bears weight it is a bearing.
Congrats to Gary Oldman and the new Turntable 🤔🤔🤔 I never knew that about the VPI tone arms?? Not sure with my coffee shaking hands I could navigate my album collection! My question is...how is that Grado cartridge? Have had 3 straight Nagaoka MP-110 cartridges and have been very very happy with....but thinking on my next to try something new.....have heard mixed reviews with Grado and the infamous "hum"? Anyways...congrats on the sweet TT👍
Never had any hum issues over here, I have grado carts on both my tables. I love them . Cheers!
Most VPI turntables have normal tonearms so you have options. The unipivot is a wild child for sure. I'm a big fan of wood body Grados. They aren't super cheap but they make me happy. Probably the best bang for the buck model is the Sonata. I've used Grados on a lot of turntables and never had hum, but I know that some people do have that issue. I just don't think it's common.
What's the isolation base you have the VPI sitting on? Looking for one for my Scout
Thanks for the video Bob. A question to Jeffery Lee, being the cartridge/stylus guy. best cartridge/stylus upgrade for a Audio-Technica LP-120? Other than getting something else than a AT120.😁
The easiest thing to do is to upgrade the stylus on the AR95 cart that comes with the 120. They're interchangeable. The Microlinear stylus is the one that gets all of the raves, but I haven't heard it. It's $150 and plugs right in to the AT95 line of cartridges.
@@JLeeeP , thanks for the info. Will look into it.😊🤓
So much fun in this video. Yo where are you goin with that arm? Thats to far...
Lol exactly!
