Nice pickups!
Non fill a problem on my copy of this Bobby B. Doesn't detract from a great record tho.
I’m passing on this Sturgill Simpson. I don’t love the direction of this one musically.
Enjoyed your take on his album.
I liked it on first listen but didn't think it was up with his best but after about 5 spins it has revealed it's brilliance to me.
My copy was also flat and quiet so I was happy about that especially after seeing all the comments on discogs. I did see an interview where Sturgill said all he did was plug in his Les Paul and play that for the record, so good ears!
@@spindoctorandhisvinylmayhem he didn’t mention what exactly he plugged into did he ?

Are those Opera Consonance M-15 speakers? I ask because I have a pair. If so, where did you get yours?
@@alanrogs3990 yes they are 🤓 I got mine from a local guy who deals with crazy stuff lol
@@BOBBRADLEYCHANNEL Can you tell me his name? I think I might know where your speakers came from. I have a friend that is a friend of a friend that deals with these things from Ohio. And they know a guy in KY that is big into audio stuff. The guy I know is in Springfield, Ohio and has a huge collection of vintage guitars and vintage audio. It would be cool if the speakers you have are from someone I knew.

@@doodahdavesrecords4319 Just Hanging In there like a hair in a biscuit!
Nice Eurythmics score. Picked that up myself a couple weeks ago for $10. Cover ok, mint vinyl! Great sounding, and if you have the label with both 1982 and 1983 on it it’ll be an earlier press!
@@matthewtapley2765 oh I need to check that out !
Your listening area is starting to look awfully nice. 😊
Heh. Andrew Robinson has given one of their amps a glowing review to the UFO2. Just dang. I was never a tube fan and always went for wattage (Topping out at 600 bi-amped watts per channel into ESS AMT 1B monitors back in the late 70's). But I'm old now and, frankly, more into "nuanced" music. Think the jazz you always rave about or the one I just listened to yesterday, Ricki Lee Jones with killer band and arrangements. I wear hearing aids now because I played bass next to loud drummers for too long, but if I didn't, I'd be springing for one of these with a nice pair of sensitive speakers. And even with the bad ears, I'm sure the clarity would still be noticeable. BTW, I broke the bulb in one of my lava lamps at one of our gigs last week. Those suckers are getting harder to find. But nice video. We still need to get together one of these days... Robinson's video: czcams.com/video/FhaM_fUaijY/video.html
Congratulations on your finds. It’s difficult to hold back and not go overboard. Your city is fantastic for vinyl! I definitely need to go there again.

Short and to the point video, very cool...tho I was hoping to see some JLP pickups
Hi Russ. Between the show and some light digging afterward, I grabbed six NRBQ albums (three for a friend, three for me) -- "Scraps," "Tiddlywinks," "At Yankee Stadium," "Wild Weekend," "Workshop" and "All Hopped Up."
You always find great music. Love the show tag along.
Funny, I was at a record show this morning. I lucked out. Alice Coltrane Satchidananda (ABC Impulse), Eno Another Green World (early press), Nick Drake Five Leaves Left (78 Island), and Love Forever Chances (early press). I have recent represses of these. Now I'm closer to the source. Great pickups Bob. Cheers, Jay

Grado Opus? Congratulations. I have a Grado Reference Platinum 2 High Output. Extremely good Sound for that small price (Demonstrator for 350 instead of 450 Euros)
I had a VPI Scout 1.1 with Koetsu Rosewood Standard, sounded great. But I sold it on eBay for (unfortunately) only 750 euros. I needed a drive with an interchangeable headshell, I have too many cartridges. Now I enjoy the new Denon DP 3000 NE (2500 Euro) Direct Drive with 9.7 inch tonearm, it sounds surprisingly as good as the VPI.
Nice Video. Did you hear the Mono-Version with a pure Mono-Cartridge (like Ortofon SPU/MPU Mono or AT 33 Mono etc) on your wonderful old Thorens TD 124?
Do you have a Thorens 124? Would you recommend that turntable ? One of my top picks
Top loader 💯
The two pieces of gear that my eye always go to in your rack are that Thorens TT and that Dynaco Pre. I built my own Dynaco 400 and Pat-5 back in 1973, right out of high school. Wish I'd kept them. And the thorens is the TT equivalent of a Porsche 550 Spyder, IMO. Regarding your amp, if it were not for the fact that I now wear hearing aids, I'd probably be drooling over that thing. However, when I sold hi-fi back in the 1976-1983 timeframe, I was very much against tube amps. Not because I thought they were bad, but because I thought they were way over priced. And it was frustrating to see people want to opt for expensive tube amps and pre's while skimping on speakers, where things REALLY matter. Also, a lot of the really good speakers at that time were fairly ineficient, so you needed power. That's why I used my Dynaco to power ADL L810's. And then there are magnapans, Dalquist, etc. But the boutique tube amps available today are just too cool. Though, truth be told, they are still a bit pricey for my taste. But again, my ears are no longer that discerning. I'll say this: I no longer care about tape hiss.🤣
You chose wisely...
Tough as this is like comparing apples to oranges. IF you had a tube cut stereo copy, you would have a more fair comparison. You made the right decision - you can find a copy of the DMM anywhere.
I’ve got the 2014 mono, bought new. Closest I’ll ever come to an og.
I always ❤ Stereo 😅
Ha, I just put out an OG vs Audiophile video too. Great minds - Mike
I don’t have a mono copy yet but I’d likely go for the 2014 mono pressing, it’ll be noise free and also a top-loader like the original.
@@Matasky2010 I’m hoping they do the box again🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Very cool. I only have a stereo UK top loader. My early UK mono is right after they switched to side loading. I'd love a mono top, but musically, I am all in with the White in stereo. Mono is excellent, but stereo is my listening choice for that record.
@@mazzysmusic I feel ya Mazzy!
Mono it shouldn't even be up for consideration
I think we should point out that with the White album some songs are definitely better in mono while others much better in stereo.
@@Matasky2010 I think that’s a very fair statment with out a doubt. ✊🏼
Keep ‘em all! With The Beatles you can never have too many copies. 🤷🏻♂️
I own a UK Mono top loader VG++. The 2014 Mono kills it for obvious reasons. The '85 German is very nice too, but ...as far as Stereo go with a 1976 Japan. IMO
Hard to believe it 'kills' a clean OG considering the tapes were 45+ years old.
@@festersuncle6298 I’d love to hear the 2014… I really love the mono master collection they did, super fine.
