Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica earned her fourth women’s world 100m title here tonight, ten years after her first, in 10.71, having got off to the kind of start that has earned her the nickname of Pocket Rocket down the years.
The 32-year-old double Olympic champion was ahead after three strides and she never lost that position as she crossed in the fastest time run this year, just 0.01 off her seven-year-old personal best, equalling the mark she ran to win this title at Moscow in 2013.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has been the top or the top two 100m sprinters for over a decade, that is true. But since 2016, the year Elaine Thompson-Hera broke out, the best way to describe the situation would be that Shelly-Ann and Elaine has been CO-dominating the 100m scene for the last six years. They have been breathing down each other's neck since 2016. The fact is since 2016, these two have participated in 12 100m races so far, and Elaine dominates head to head 9 to 3. Including the two consecutive Olympic golds in Rio and Tokyo. Shelly has the 2019 Doha World Championship of course. But objectively speaking, they both have been the two dominant forces. And it would be fair to give an edge to Elaine with two Olympic golds and 9-3 head to head. But given that Shelly is 5 years older and just ran 10.60 at 34 years of age in August 2021 to beat the 29 year old peak Elaine the 3rd time in their 12 matchups is also stupendous.

Let’s not focus on the formers things, she excelled that because that was her first gold, she now have four (4). I personally think she has a wealth of experience and is running better.
