One of the most underrated defensive transitions is here 8:51. Lopes tries to pass to Brito's back and Brito anticipates, intercepting the hip to transition to takedown and top control. VERY impressive defensive maneuver. Shame how this went down in the end, but Brito's skill set is still very cleverly honed.

Lopez knew he was losing and tried to escape with a DQ, that does nothing for DWCS unfortunately, they can't sign somebody with a DQ win, so going to the scorecards is the way to go.

This is crazy I can’t believe the result of the fight. Should’ve either been DQ or No contest. They should’ve just ran the fight back after Lopes healed his eye honestly. Very impressed with Lopes and his transitions. If there was 30-60 seconds left in the round before the last one Lopes could’ve potentially got a win with that leg bar.

There are gloves that are approved for MMA that still allow you to have your hand open for blocking/grappling purposes, yet basically nullifies any chance you'll poke someone in the eye. Most of the lower rung companies use them. UFC & Bellator don't for absolutely no justifiable reason.

Releasing this video doesn't do Brito any favors. I don't plan on tuning into any of his fights after seeing this disgraceful win, the man was sticking his hand out in a way that made Lopes hesitate to approach for fear of eye-poke time and time again. Just a disgusting decision. Top-class fighting from both opponents otherwise, but I'm more excited to see Lopes again than Brito 10000%.
I pool in on PPVs with friends pretty often, but I'm guaranteed going to have the boys over for a free stream night this weekend. 0% chance I pay to watch this fighter open the main card.

1) Gavin Tucker is better than anybody Brito has ever fought
2) competition level matters, hype as a prospect matters, main card slots matter. A lot more than being 3-1 against low-mid level UFC competition
Brito is an undercard fighter. Diego has been on the main card for both of his fights and will continue to be on the main card.

I have an issue with the ankle supports. U can use those to slide up and down in the same spot on ur opponent skin. Especially on your back. It causes horrible friction and when mixed with sweat its very uncomfortable

These two guys are the definition of JOURNEYMAN at the UFC & rightly so. They are skilled, tough, strong, and determined. But they are totally without experience or pacing knowledge. People who think Khamzat and Paddy would just bulldoze through Top guys at 170 and 185, need to pay attention to these two guys:
Khamzat and Paddy are just 2-3 fights above these two but are essentially still journeyman. You fight like these two guys against the elites and by the end of 2 round, you are totally exhausted and then the elite, more experienced guys would just pick you apart with tactical maneuvers.
When you're young, strong, and very good, even at your debut fights, you could easily "ragdoll" others, new and old, who are less skilled, low to unranked. Fighting the top ranked guys at your division, it doesn't take more than a carefully placed punch or kick to your head and it doesn't matter even if you're Khamzat, someone as big and tall and fast as you are, like Leon, could put your lights out easy!
Paddy would be KOed by the likes of Dustin, Chandler, Gaethje, Conor, Islam, Benny, Charles and Khamzat would also be picked apart by the likes of Usman, Colby, Burns, Leon, Luque, Cannonier, Costa, Vettori, Whittaker, Izzy et al.
In 2 plus years, when they'ave successfully fought a few Top 10/Top 5, sure, they have a good chance at defeating top 3 guys in the divisions they fight in. But right now, Khamzat and Paddy are 99% hyped trains. Big, strong, good, and eager... but still largely hyped trains that are easily derailed, when they run across an elite or a crafty veteran.

Paddy is definitely a hype train. He keeps his chin up WAY too high, and leaves himself open to things that the more experienced fighters will capitalize on, definitely. He needs to work HARD after his debut to fix some of the holes in his game.
As for Khamzat, he's the real deal. If you think the Leech was a pushover, you're sorely mistaken; Khamzat's first takedown attempt was EXTREMELY high level, with perfect distance control and lightning speed. Leech defended well, but Khamzat transitioned into a different takedown attempt, spawning the highlight of him carrying the Leech over to Dana.
He's got real punching power and stand-up, elite wrestling, and he is HUGE for 170. I have 0 clue how he makes it down to that weight.
Could he still lose to elite-level fighters like Usman, Colby, and Leon? sure. But I think he whoops on Burns, Luque, and everyone else at 170 no contest. As for the 185 division, I could easily see him crushing anyone in the division if he can find takedowns the way he has. We shall see though!

This 100% should have been a no contest. Barring that, a DQ for Brito. Inexcusable to give the guy the win here. A shame, both fighters were impressive and Brito in particular was obviously dominant - but getting rewarded with a win here after multiple warnings and a fight-stoppage is gross.
