I was at the game. Collingwood should have been 5 goals ahead at halftime but missed some easy shots. Richmond took their opportunities and deserved the win in the end. A couple of dodgy free kicks at the end didn't change the result. By the way, I'm a Pies fan but I can see another long season which will unfortunately result in us having a new coach next year. Buckley can coach but our skills are just terrible at important stages of every game...
Although I'm looking forward to that match against the Bombers and hope we win, I think we should focus on a more pressing side next week in the Eagles HAHA

Didn't even even out by the end of the game, Collingwood winning the free-kick count 26-21 (i think). If anything, collingwood decided the game with their abysmal kicking accuracy.
Troy Nguyen what about the 400 free kicks Collingwood had in front of goal earlier in the game? If anything those "game deciding" free kicks just evened things out a bit. Not to mention Collingwood blew most of their chances with poor kicking.
The guy in the forward line was gone either way. If he didn't have it long enough for holding the ball, then he should have been penalised for incorrect disposal. Either way a free kick to the tigers.

That tackle on Treloar in the 4th, How is that holding the ball? It was a great tackle from Cotchin sure, but Treloar has is for less than a second. WHERE is the prior opportunity? I'm not liking how the AFL expect players to be automated robots at times. I could understand if the call was for an incorrect disposal, but the umpire doesn't award the free kick off that. He calls holding the ball meaning that Treloar had to have prior opportunity to get rid of the ball. Having the ball for 1 second is not prior opportunity. Now I don't support either of these teams and think richmond definitely deserved the win as they were clearly the better team, but I sill think the umpiring should be right
Mate the AFL umpiring is the most subjective umpiring in all sports. I don't think they have a clear rule on it other than 'this is how we think it should feel/look'. It's maddening. You wait til end of year and finals time, that won't be called, just like every other year. You could honestly say the same thing about incorrect disposal or running too far without bouncing/disposal too.
He did if quick hand balls or kicks were mandatory, but they aren't mandatory. Is he expected to punt or handball the ball in any given direction as soon as he receives the ball? See that's why I said above, the umpiring is completely subjective on how they think it should feel or look. I understand your assessment, but if we're being truly critical, the umpiring has too much influence on the flow and individual actions of all the players (not just this instance). A more extreme example is the AFL mandating less interchange rotations in recent years. Definitely changed the game from say 2009-2010 to now.

We are more concerned (I go further by saying umpires have too much influence) with how that was holding the ball when clearly he had hardly or a very small amount of time to dispose. A trend we both see as BS.
