You call that a wave? This is a wave... "Made In Australia" is back with another episode that points west. Forget about the wineries and artisans of Margaret River, if you want to meet the true wildmen of West Australian surfing you need to head north, way north, to where desert meets ocean, and life gets a little raw. There's not much more than salt air and red dirt where Ry Craike and Kerby Brown hail from, but they're more than fine with that.
If you like slabs heaving over sharks and sharp reefs, then the boys will like you too. They're like their mates Jay Davies and Dino Adrian, who pay the north-west a visit in this clip to join in the fun. It's Croc Dundee goes surfing, and the boys wouldn't have it any other way.

I remember Tom Hoye surfing in Santa Cruz in the 60s. Then I saw a story about him in Surfers Journal, how he moved to Margaret River in the early 70s. Then I see this video and can hardly get my mind around passing of time. The wipe out at 5:05 is crazy.

ph0kused Australia has a lot of cattle and flies like to lay their eggs in cow dung as it makes a perfect nesting environment. With so much cattle there is a lot of dung - lots of flies. In this video it's the northern parts of WA where flies love the heat.

Still has nothing on the East Coast. I hear all these Margret River guys downing the East Coast but you only have to look at the talent it has produced compared to the West to know. Margret River has nothing on the Goldie or even The South Coast. Burleigh, Kirra, Super Bank, Deebah, Suck Rock, Cape Fear, Shark Island, Shitties in The Gong, Redsands, Aussie Pipe, Super Tubes, Pink Rock, Moruya River Mouth the 300 meter perfect left and Bells Beach.
Kirra and The Super Bank topple anything WA has to offer by themselves. Seen lads get 10-15 second barrels at Kirra with stories of guys pulling 20 seconds barrels before and waves breaking all the way from The Super Bank to Kirra on very rare days. You can't compare the 2. WA has some good waves but when Margrets gets one WQS even and the Goldie has 3 WCT events it becomes obvious which is truly the better coast line.
