Interesting to hear that deer vocalising. Not sure I've ever heard that.
Was there a ricochet off one of those deer?

It sounds as though there was a ricochet and we were all worried about the shot at the time, but upon inspection of the carcass it would appear not. Odd things happen in the field!

Cambridgeshire flat?

Cambridgeshire is flat but the ground is also very soft which tends to catch bullets very well, unlike many other parts of the country which are full of flints and would make shots like that unsafe.
