It was THE topic of conversation at my school and on the bus back in 1992 for my friends and I, and those two places were my main resource for MK moves and cheats... until the console versions came out. Then I could use my "Nintendo Power" (I had a subscription, and every SNES port had an issue where a section was devoted to the special moves and finishers... and they were always the same inputs as the arcade versions) to learn the moves so I could use them at the arcade.
So in a very direct way, "Nintendo Power" gave 12 year old me a slight edge whenever I played at the arcade... especially against another person.

Since Elizabeth Malecki was a dance/aerobics instructor her outfit consist of tights and leotard which was a popular trend in the 90's, she decided to go with that outfit as Sonya Blade.

It is surprising at how well the Amiga port controls. The load times are mercifully shorter than many other games on the system, and the disk-swapping is kept to a minimum. Considering they made it with the Amiga 500 in mind, the base architecture of which was made in 1985, I think they did a pretty good job.

This is mostly stuff I already knew, being 40 years old and having been fascinated with MK characters, lore, and history since it was released in arcades in 1992... but I enjoy how succinctly and eloquently you present the history of the game in your videos, and I did learn several things when I watched the first time. For example, I never knew that originally Shang Tsung was to be the only killable opponent. I'm glad they changed that, but it would have been cool if they still let us kill Shang Tsung also.

This is still one of my favorite games of all time. I have the arcade board of the original but haven't played that version in years due to needing to rebuild the control panel and I haven't had time to mess with it, but will in the near future. In the early 90s I had both the Game Gear and Floppy disk DOS port. The Game Gear version seemed decent at the time but looks terrible now. The DOS port was great and I even got a keyboard gamepad in order to control the game. From what I remember this game required 8MB of ram and I only had 4MB and had to use a ram doubler to fool the game into starting, which would cause some bad stuttering occasionally during gameplay. Since the ram was around $200 to go from 4 to 8 megabytes(yes MB) at the time I managed to work out a solution.

We loaded up the mini van and saw it at our local drive-in. I forgot what the other movie was, as our drive-In always played double features. Thank goodness Nintendo realized their mistake with MK2, which was a great port on SNES for the time. We played the hell outta that game.

They were endurance matches where you fought 1 opponent, beat them and then immediately fight another with whatever life you had left over from fighting the 1st opponent. Not sure what sound recording equipment you used for this video but there is so much sound stuttering scattered within this video that it gives me a headache and makes it unwatchable.

i played this in the arcades.. master system and megadrive (genisis)..and got the dos CD version with my first PC...
the pc version was wayyy superior, even to the arcade, due to being able to set ya "dip switches" from a menu via the DULLARD code!
and that new MK movie is killer... i really liked the bits of back story...like how Jax lost his arms..

I always prefer Scorpion's saying "Come Here" in MK2 than "Get Over Here".

Due to Mortal kombat we got R rating in video game's and also I just noticed Playing the old Mortal games are harder to pull some of the special moves than there Mk 9,Mk, X, Mk 11 versions
