Legacy G2 Universe Grimlock is such a cool figure, though I agree with you that the stripes should have been more generous. It's hard to believe that this is an official figure, but here it is! My arrived in today's post, but I haven't been down to the office to open it yet. I'd love to see the two released G2 variations of this-blue and turquoise-though that would start to get mega-expensive. G2 versions of the core dinobots would be more wallet friendly. Maybe we'll get green Swoop and orange Sludge one day, too.

[All those obvious lacunas in the toy could have actually been perfected by repurposing the original budget put into that solid block of plastic that was Wheelie (which is somehow missing from this set now ~ yet we are neither compensated for it price-wise nor given any bonuses in its vivid absence)! If this isn't 'daylight robbery', then what is, my man?

Criticisms aside, if you look the original art work, this is 100% faithful to that same paint job. Minus the wheelie I would have at least liked to have seen him issues with a sword. That’s where the plastic budget should have gone. Other than that I love this figure. Shame I don’t have room for it lol
That is true it is faithful to the artwork. It just looks bad… also Yeah I would like a sword too! Do get him! Find space! I honestly think he is worth it. The color is so unique. I thought toxitron was bright but this guy is brighter
May need to pick this up just for the gridlock mold, I can’t find the original coloring for a reasonable price anywhere

The original (unreleased) G2 Grimlock didn't seem to have stripes that went above the tail either, so perhaps that way was a closer homage? However, the robot chest was (solid?) grey, with the decal then looking much better over the centre of the chest.
Yeah I learned that the strips are only on his tail. It would be nice if it was all over

The trypticon colored "shattered glass" one is the only one of these grimlocks I've been able to get so far. Weird how none of the grimlocks till this g2 one used the clear plastic neck. could be misremembering this, but I think all the other ones are clear plastic as well but painted over. The chest pattern isn't due to him being not an autobot, it's due to the fact the grimlock in that artwork had a bit of technical detail instead of an autobot logo there. They really should have just made a new chest piece for this one and put some more of the stripe pattern on it. Overall this figure kinda reminds me of Greymon from Digimon with these colors lmao.

A lot of people that have the things have been getting scratched figures because they use that " no window open box" kinda packaging they've been doing for their non-leader releases lately. Thankfully mine only had a lot of dust on it with some minor paint defects.
I missed out on both the Titans return Trypticon (when it was discounted no way I'd be able to afford full price lmao) and the normal Leader Grimlock from a few years ago so having a figure that combines elements of both of them is something really satisfying to me lmao. Still baffles me that all 3 of these grimlock releases don't come with his sword.

The shattered glass one is exclusive to hasbro's online pulse site over here in the US/Canada region, but I've seen some people elsewhere get it from other places though I don't where or how.

Despite the cons he has, he is probbly still worth getting if you want to owned that mold given that the original SS86 version is going by scalper price now! Trust me, I have look and I ain't paying over £100 for him! Well it's either the G2 or the SG versions!

Love the review, I love grimlock and was looking at it just thinking eh it looks kinda cool but feels lacking and I think your recommendations/criticism section was SPOT on, well done. I was close to pulling the trigger but think i'm gonna hold off for now.
Understandable. Still nice but sometimes u see something hasbro do and it’s just unacceptable and totally turns u off getting that figure
Same price with SS86, but with no Wheelie? That budget for Wheelie could be spent on a sword or more stripes or better chest piece.
Hasbro doesn’t have the budget for it since it is a small indie non profit company. Have to save on that plastic

Low effort repaints are what Hasbro does best... well, MOST, if perhaps not BEST. At least one (and usually two or more if you include head-swaps as well) for each and every mold.

@@Eiienzero2-tb2tk Nah, he's all chrome silver with blue hands and head. They did one for Mp08 called Mp08x. Though having a G2 blue one would be cool too.
