Excellent video Konstantin. Very crisp and clear with excellent graphics. One of the best tutorials on this that I have seen.

Always used this mode of focusing, but wasn’t aware of setting the continuous option to give the three variations. So thanks for the tip 👍🏻

Yours is probably the best explanation I've seen of this. Thank you Konstantin

Did this with my D7200 three years ago and it is absolutely great for doing portrait taking if the subject is not in the center of the frame.

    Great reminder.
After being with Z7 for almost 2 years what strikes me is the shutter noise and the sheer size of the DSLR used for demo, not even the biggest in the Nikon range. OK, Nikkor F 14-24mm is a big beast and camera grip adds to it also.

one other operation/ feature worth a video, is the analogue to this one, ie, the AF/exposure lock button, and also flash value lock, all help to steady the camera in changing conditions.

I get it now 👌 nicely explained.I Had to go controls on the D7500 first 🧐. I'm enjoying all the walk abouts

Great video , on cameras with no af on button d90 d7000 etc the AEL button can be assigned to af on and acheive back button focusing .

Back-button AF is the only way to shoot! Once you've come grips with it, shutter release focusing feel like a major handicap!

Thanks Kon! Nice to hear a mirror flipping again...I think you should have mentioned this also works great for Z cameras too. I’m a big fan of you, Becky and the shop, but I have one picky request: please can you pronounce Nikon with an “o” and not “Niken” as you do now? Thanks! (If you don’t I’ll be calling you Ken...)

Hi Konstantin, Great advice, thank you!
I was trying to reset that back AF-ON back-button on my D850 however,
for some strange reasons the previous setting for AE ON still activated and I did not find where to cancel it.
Could you please direct me? thanks a lot & have a great week ahead

Is there any reason to do this with the z6/7 ii with Eye AF/AF-C and the focus limiter box? Thanks.

Why would you want the focus to change when you press the shutter??

Hi Kon, Does the AF-on button change the af modes on a D700 the same?

Hi Chris, yes. Here is how to set it up.
Set your NON CPU lenses in the SETUP MENU.
Then in CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU choose A5 AF Activation and set it to AF-ON only
Then in CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU choose F6 Assign preview button and "Preview + command dials" choose Non-CPU lens number
      Job done! Hope this helps.

Actually you can take multiple shots without refussing, if you only half release the shutter button.
