- The year is 872, and many of the separate kingdoms of what we now know as England have fallen to the invading Danes, leaving the great kingdom of Wessex standing alone and defiant under the command of King Alfred. Against this turbulent backdrop lives the hero, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon). Born the son of a Saxon nobleman, he is captured by the Danes and raised as one of their own. Forced to choose between the country of his birth and the people of his upbringing, his loyalties were tested. In the new season of the Netflix Original series, "The Last Kingdom," Alfred's health weakens -- and with it his dream of a united England -- Uhtred must take command and confront a new threat, Danish warlord Sigrid.

I'm on episode 2 of season 4 and I miss him so much. I literally feel the empty hole he left behind. I really fell in love with his acting. Alfred was not always enjoyable, but David was... I also loved the relationship between Uhtred and Alfred. So intense.
Hope there is a season 4. Im so sad that this is not advertised that much. Netflix has struck gold here. The Last Kingdom remains to be one of the most underrated series right now. Hope more people watch this. (Other underrated series - Black Sails and Peaky Blinders).
nina capila pesky blinders WAS underrated, but it’s got a pretty hard following now. That is by far the best show I’ve ever seen

Andrew Culross Peaky Blinders is truly phenomenal. I guess I wanted it to have thesame hype and recognition, not only in audience but also in awards recognition as Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad 😛 But yesss, Peaky Blinders is the best
Glenn G True this! I think the first episode does not do it justice, but every season gets better and better. (IMO season 2 is the best). Plus, in terms of character, Black Sails has so many well written characters and development.
Hope there will be 100 seasons. For me this is one of the few series I will remember forever, just like Black Sails, Vikings or Game of Thrones.
Such an underrated show. In hindsight before watching the show I thought it’d just be a shitty remake of Vikings as I watched the first episode, but my gosh was I wrong. Literally binged watched all three seasons in a few days. Such great writing and such a great cast! Can’t wait for season 4 in 2020 (most likely).

Every season has gotten better and better. This last one really hit me pretty good when uhtred spoke with Alfred alone while the party was going on.

@@chinalamas Not sure where you're getting Northern from. It's basically a very moderated German accent (because Alexander is German) with the American twang (like he has here) removed for the show. It sounds unusual but it didn't bother me at all.
@@BX0207 well, it's supposed to be unusual, because obviously he would have been very young and speaking Old English, then speaking Old Norse, then back to Old English. They're all Germanic languages, but that character would have an unusual accent. I'm not sure what baseline you're using for judging whether it's "natural". Maybe you mean to say "convincing" to you personally. I find his accent very convincing. It's probably because Alexander is German that he doesn't sound like he's *trying* too hard to sound Norse, like some of the English actors playing Danes.

The scene near the end of season 3 where Uhtred and Alfred have their final heart to heart is honestly one of the best, and most emotionally satisfying scenes I have ever seen on television.

Yeah it was satisfying in most part to me because Alfred and and most of the kingdom didn't even come close to giving Uthred the credit, respect, and love he deserved. Literally gave them everything for him to have all the glory. Saved his baby son (future king). Had his wife killed. Sacrificed his freedom, and saved his daughter Aethfled and ultimately saved his leave life and kingdom and they spat on Uhtred. Honestly they all should've been kissing his feet.

And in his speaking he becomes more American the more interviews he gives it‘s so interesting to watch how easy it is for a non native to switch depending on who they are talking to. If you watch his London Comicon Panel with David he sounds a lot more British.

I find it so fascinating how young actors and actresses display such a huge understanding, intelligent, visceral way of thinking and eloquent way of expressing their thoughts...in the time of influencers and CZcams gurus it's always refreshing to see that there are still good role models for young people out there.

I stumbled across the show on Netflix and binged all three seasons within 1 week. Wow. What a great show. The writing is amazing but the acting on this show is extraordinary. The actor who plays King Alfred.....wow. What an amazing actor. Can't wait until season 4!

Shows like this SOA and Vikings have diehard fans and amazing casts that are never really headliners.

There was a Twitter clip. Netflix season 4 confirmed by our bois. It came out in Dec 2018, so it may still be shooting and editing.... hopefully it will be out by summer 2019.

One of my favourite shows of all time. Uhtred might be my favorite character on tv.
Alexander Dreymon's portrayal of Uhtred is pretty amazing with depth and nuanced acting which goes beyond the accent. That's a mere manifestation of how well this actor understands the character he's portraying; what drives Uhtred and the relationships he cultivates with a varied group of people while at war, in between war: the journey of his character through changes. Just a great contribution to a great show ❤

This show is so good. I watched all 3 seasons twice.. The show pulls you in.... Great writing,great acting, great fight choreograph.. The scenery looks legit,plus they throw a little humor here and there.. And the gor looks authentic..

I watch all three seasons in one day every day. I’m reading all the books and I have the music all t shirts and skin for my phone.
Huge fan of how Mr. Dreymon has made Uhtred his role. The first couple of episodes he was in I was a little unsure of him, but a couple of episodes later and I was sold. He was and is what I think of Uhtred in my head. This is my first interview watching him and I gained a ton of respect for his views on social media. Looking forward to the rest of this show and anything else he does in the future

Loved Season 3 of the Last Kingdom -- many tears I cried - Especially the Meeting with Alfred and Uhtred before his death, just blew me away. Watched Episode 9 and Ten over and over!!

@Techstorm2065 when ragnar saved uhtred on the beach from the slave ship got me. Also when hild had the conversation with uhtred in the meadow. When finan said "pull" after killing the slave owner too. I've never cried over a movie but those moments will stay with me for life. I still miss Iseult fgs.
I just discovered this series and binge watched in a week. I am really impressed with Dreymon's performance, usually people who look like him don't generally have to work as hard- but you could tell that he works his ass off by his character/ acting decisions on the show. He really sells this. I hope Netflix picks up season 4- its just as good as GOT.
I already finish season 3 and I’m craving for more episodes. I have not seen a show this fast paced and well written in a very long time. I must say I did shed a tear when Alfred had a heartfelt conversation with uhtred. Also love the way how they kill off characters you expect them not to, this makes the show unpredictable and always have you guessing.
only breaking bad and spartacus can compete thats my top 3 F@#$ game of thrones they put that show in the garbage.
Fantastic series. Binged on all five seasons. The cast is spectacular, and it's super that the series is not 'fantasy' but based on facts. Alex holds it together.
The Last Kingdom is action packed, with amazing acting, scenery and music. It is without doubt one of the best shows ever produced and deserves far more credit...Alexander Dreymon is not only a superb actor but he's gorgeous, most of my female work colleagues and I watch this show because of him. Let's hope there will be a series 4.

I never cry in shows/movies, but Uhtred is just such a fantastic character that I feel I can relate to that is placed in such difficult situations in season 3. You really see him under stress like never before, having to balance different loyalties and blood feuds. It breaks your heart to see him make hard decisions. Man, I loved season 3.
Tears streamed down my cheeks during the final conversation between Uhtred and Alfred. Such powerful writing and acting.

Took almost 2 years for season 3 i was a bit disappointment thinking the series was canceled such underrated show glad is back and better than the last 2 seasons

The most underrated series I’ve ever seen. Alexander became the most complete and beautiful embodiment of Uhtred. His ability to portray emotions is just incredible. My God, when his eyes tear up….he genuinely appears broken. For example when Iseult and Gisela died. I really admire Alex and I am so looking forward to all of his future roles. I would love to see him in a western series especially since he’s so good at riding horses!! ❤
You know I rarely watch TV but I started watching the last kingdom and I was immediately hooked. I have to say it’s great to hear Alexander Dreymon talk about it, you can really see how passionate he is.
I truly hope that the Marvel purge now allows underrated shows like this to come to the forefront where they belong and start to get the recognition they really deserve. The acting this season by an exemplary cast anchored by the work of Dreymon, David Dawson as Alfred and Harry McEntire as Aethelwold. I hope Netflix sees that they really have a winner on their hands with this one.

His accent seems to change depending on the audience. He sounds very American here but quite British in other interviews.
I guess that kind of happens with all non-native speakers. I'm Brazilian and my accent naturally switches to "british" or "american" accent depending to whom I'm talking to. (But my English accent is mostly "brazilian", of course :D )
He's lived in a lot of different places. That tends to make people's accents fluctuate

Being that I got in accident a week ago and stumbled upon this show I couldn’t of been any happier to spend my days laying in bed. I watched every episode within 3 days and I think this is the best show Netflix has ever put out

Love this show, hope for season 4. I had never seen it and just finished it birdwatching a few evenings. I learned a great deal, historically, I hadn't known and it didn't hurt the cast was brilliant!
I just found out about this show about 2/3 weeks ago. I've watched all 3 seasons! Love, love it! I've watched a couple of interviews with the cast. Alex has more of an American accent, while talking to an American. Haha! While he was talking to a Brit, he sounded British!

When I first watched the last kingdom before season 3 I was intrigued by the series and I hope that they continue their series it truly does have great potential. Alexander truly knows how to work with the character uthred.
