  • Time to review this lovely little Pannier tank engine from Dapol, and for the price it is very well made, has plenty of detail and does run rather well, there's not much I can really say that is wrong with the engine, only main gripe is just a tad bit fiddly to DCC it.
    If you are going to get this engine, would recommend finding the train pack which includes two B-Set coaches, got mine from Hereford Model Centre and would recommend at least popping over for a look if interested!

    Great performance from a little tank loco.

      It does have very good performance, for something that small with no traction tires too! (that I can see anyway)

    i wish all 0-6-0s in n gauge came with factory fitted stay alives. its frustrating when they stall on points.

      While I'm not sure if the 57XX has a stay alive, but I do agree that more N Gauge engines should come with stay alive, even off the points it's annoying when they just stop on a micron of dirt!

    Hi James. I'm rather confused. The running numbers looked like they were etched plates rather than Tampo printed (they may have been plastic plates). Also, during the off-track review you said (or so I thought) that you had already DCC'd the loco. The, as you put the loco on the track for us to see it run, you said that you were running it as a DC loco - yet, as it went round the track, your DCC controller came into view. Were you using the DC setting on your DCC controller (not advised!)? I have this loco numbered 8762, which I will run between two auto-coaches.

      Hello Paul, just double checked the loco and they are plates, just rather thin ones, had to run a nail over them to feel that you are correct that they are plates.
      As for running either as DC/DCC, I checked back the footage, round the 9:30 mark I do mention that it'll be run under DCC, though knowing what I'm like I may have said DC instead of DCC after that.

  • @andyakarudolfhessiansack7936

    Why didnt you get it in DCC?

    • @GosportRailworks
      @GosportRailworks  Před 2 lety +1

      Because I bought it in a train pack (with the B Set coaches), and don't recall a DCC option at the time, but it is chipped now, I just review things when I can, even if before I chip them since I buy them when money allows!

      @@GosportRailworks Is it as smooth as the GF maunsell?

    • @GosportRailworks
      @GosportRailworks  Před 2 lety

      @@andyakarudolfhessiansack7936 I'd say it's fairly smooth running, though Farish engines do have the benefit of more weight to them which does seem to make them run better.
      But if your track is quite clean then it should run fine, but there's not many which I feel can run as smooth as the GF N Class, but I might be biased heh
