I think her performance of this song on "The Talk" was her best but this was the cutest [with the stuffed baby seal in her pocket]. I think she most lived the music in this venue, given her love of baby seals. I just listened to several renditions of this song [one of my favorites] by Sarah B, Chloe Agnew, Yoko Maria [at Carnegie Hall], and a Korean opera star .. Jackie's voice is the most pleasant and tranquilizing of all .. that can be listened to repeatedly without "ear fatigue". Magical.
I put on a Jackie Evancho Playlist many times as I drive places alone far from home and figure if I were to unfortunately meet my fate upon the road what a way to go like Howie said that time on AGT.. listening to this angel at any age... is Heavenly!!

I think what makes Jackie's performance above many other singers who are also gifted but more "mature" is just that, she captures the essence of the music in its pure form with little overembellishment.. with innocence. Whereas others have stylistic riffs as their mark, hers is the absolutely crystalline purity of the music.

Incredible talent and technique, and particularly professionalism. If I didn't know the song I'd never have caught that she started a V3 on V2 by mistake for one line, because she corrected it flawlessly. 😊 Wonderful, wonderful performance from a very practiced and hardworking and prepared and mindful performer. Just saw her live and I think she sounds better than ever. She did have some rough times during puberty but she now still has the great upper range with a much better lower.
@dieseldog00 To Jackie's fans, she already is the greatest singer in the history of mankind. There is no recorded evidence of anyone at any age that can sing like her. And she is only 11. To her fans (and I am one of them) she will be a living legend before she turns 21 if she continues to progress at the phenomenal rate she has in less than a year .... but then again I am an avid fan :)

It would be a tremendous boost to opera if the new power of the internet was used to subtitle. At least for small pieces, cause I still can't imagine listen to a complete opera this way, although...
Be glad you do not understand the language being sung, it will end any mental projection of the words equaling the beauty of the music and the voice; unfortunately the words in Italian are a bit mundane and thus the attractiveness of this song and others to non-Italian speaking audiences. It adds 'mystery and imagination' to the entire performance and you are feel to project any beautiful images and feelings that your spirit may be so inclined. The same effect was achieved in the movie the Shawshenck Redemption.
@Dadabaableable That's a great idea 'Dad.' I understand some Italian, but a lot less when it's being sung. If we want more grand opera fans here in the U.S., they should be able to understand the lyrics without having a libretto. I can understand why opera's not more accepted here. It's more beautiful than most Americans know. Too bad it's not more vigorously promoted with 'systematic' subtitles as you suggest. I can see that Jackie alone has made many converts, from reading her fan mail.
