Their way of singing is called Joik, its a song genre the Sami are using, which is the indigenous people of Sweden, Norway and Finland, they live in the north of the countries ;) your welcome
And it was used because Kristoff was based on the Sami people.

I love how they just kind of sway. Most choirs maintain a stiff posture but they’re moving softly with the sound.
Yeah our teacher is always telling us to be interesting like this.
Yeah... Sway has something to say.... Absolutely perfect......
I thought you were going to retract 5 point from gryffindor.

I agree, Professor.
❄️Elsa was crowned in a very similar church in Frozen 1, amazing voices.
Yeeeeesssss yesssss

The churche from Frozen was inpsired from this castle 😍
HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS
@@dr.wardsmirkhundsum6444 They are called "Stave churches", and we have a lot of them. They can be up to a thousand years old. If you decide to visit, my favourite is the Borgund stave church. Heddal is probably the most famous and big, but the Borgund church just looks more viking and old (in my opinion). I've been to both, and they are quite the spectacle to witness.
i never knew this was sung by an entirely female group!! makes it even more incredible; the amount of ranges present in this piece is stunning
Agreed. I would've sworn the bottom part (which is approximately in the tenor range) was sung by guys, but I guess not.
Ah, I thought it was Alto cause I went for this choir seminar and they taught us this song (I'm an alto by the way :D). We sang it this way. Literally! Although we had guys as Tenors and Baritones and Basses, still sounded dope! To me, I mean xD
Rosiells There are guys. Look in the back.
gender shouldn't be the factor for calling a piece stunning it should be purely on the harmony of all instead
I have a range from S2 to T1, so I can see maybe being mistaken for a guy on my low end. 😅 I usually sat in the Alto 2 spot most comfortably but if they needed a tenor spot with a female sound, it’s definitely workable. The alto part here isn’t an issue with how low it is. I love how broad the female range can be. 😊
I imagine a royal coronation to this track. Or a wedding!
I already thought of this, if I ever marry. But I want to have the original Vuelie with the "fairest Lord Jesus" Chorus.
No, the composition had been changed for the Frozen movie so you couldn't hear the chorus any more.
This here is the original composition which existed before Frozen. The makers of the movie heard this and wanted to have it in the soundtrack: czcams.com/video/LTNQAL4nV5A/video.html
Actually used this for my wedding. :)
you mean a royal wedding?
Yes is perfect 👌

Still the best opening of a Disney movie ever. I love this song, even before the movie! I’m glad that more people know about it now ^w^
i think the competition is still a tie between this and moana's opening 'tulou tagaloa'
counterparts joke I agree!
Can't beat The Lion King's sunrise entrance
The Lion King is up there.
The opening of Pocahontas is good too (steady as the beating drum)
The chapel looks like the chapel where Elsa was crowned Queen in Frozen I.
There are lots of Scandinavian values and cultures has been adapted into the first Frozen movie. So it's not surprising if this entire Chapel's design has made it into the movie for the coronation scene. Plus, the team actually visited Norway few months prior to the development of the first Frozen.
OMG
Look up "Stave churches in Norway". We have quite a few of them here, and most of them have incredible woodwork and arcitecture :) Frozen is hugely based on the Nordics. The town "Arendal" is a good example. Pretty sure they based "Arendell" from that.
Nikko Paulo Dedicatoria It is a church, not a chapel
Nikko Paulo Dedicatoria yeah,, Frozen was basses off of Norwegian and Scandinavian cultures!

They teach us to sing “up down” with our mouth in an o shape in elementary school instead of “side side” so our notes don’t sound like ‘e’. I believe she might just be doing it for the perfect O sound I hear from the entire choir

The scene in Frozen 2 where this song was sung literally made me cry and gave me goosebumps. It felt surreal.
Same here
Same here but why did we feel this way
I thought it was only me.
@@rp8102 For me, it gave me a similar feeling to whenever I hear pre-colonial folk songs from my country (Philippines). I think it calls out to a sense of our identity, like primal part of our brains connecting back to it’s roots...? It reminds me of a theory by some psychologists, particularly Carl Jung, where we have a “Collective Unconscious” that’s passed down to us without being taught. It’s separate from all the “learned” aspects of our life. Like how life-and-death instincts, morals, etc. sometimes do not need to be taught. Spirituality is part of it too, like how many different religions mirror each other in the effects it has on our psyche, etc. Maybe this type of music calls out to that.
Caren penaso is a liar
I’m so glad this song was used in Frozen 2 accurately, along with great Sámi representation within the Northuldra tribe.
It's hard to deny the feeling you get from tribal music like this. The deep beat of the drum like a heart beating with the choir's tones like a mother soothing their babe to sleep. Beautiful.
im crying reading this comment ❤
The building they’re in reminds me of Elsa’s coronation room
And their dresses😂
The castle in Frost is inspired by our Norwegian wood churches that were build in the old days :) there are several churches like this, big and small, all over Norway,! If you ever visit Norway, I would recommend stopping by one and take a look ;) also, the dresses the ladies are wearing are our national costumes. Each dress represent where they or their family comes from in Norway. Love all the details Disney borrowed from Scandinavian culture!

People who dislike this have totally lost their minds
Maybe Anti Sami People
The only reason i could think of is because this is a Sámi song being sung by Germanic Scandinavians. The clothes they are wearing is not Sámi Gakti
Or they think they could pitch better.
People who disliked it are people who realize this is a Sámi song and it’s being sung in a chapel by people wearing non Sámi traditional clothing. It’s beautifully sung but culturally inappropriate in this video. Especially when it doesn’t give credit to my Sámi traditions. Does that help clarify why there are dislikes?
Nobody disliked this

“I’m here for the lyrics”
Mathwiz 314 There's no lyrics... This is just a chorus...
Actually, there are lyrics-- technically. Its called "Eatnemen Vuelie" which translates into "Fairest Lord Jesus". Disney couldn't really put a hymn like this into a movie, so they kept the chanting that is traditionally the most memorable component of this song, and its still a beautiful piece.

I love how beautiful this song is. I just wish more people knew about this beautiful piece before a Disney movie came out though. So much culture is not researched until there is a reason. I myself being one of these people. I feel we should be submerging ourselves in the culture all over the world with the good and the bad. (Ending my little thingy(
Aspen Dawson the original piece actually has lyrics too-it’s a hymn. Cantus has the original on their album

Yes, it's Scandinavia. So? We, people of European ancestry should all be united and proud of our motherland, for we are more than a thousand: We are one. Even having our differences. No wonder Europe is being destroyed today, for its people aren't proud of it and united anymore.

The song is Vuelie and it was written for the film by South Sámi musician and composer Frode Fjellheim, who adapted it from one of his earlier songs, Eatnemen Vuelie (Song Of The Earth). His music draws on joik, an ancient vocal tradition that was outlawed when Nordic Indigenous communities were Christianized (like what Canada did with the Potlatch ban).
Thank you for this insight.. its so fantastic to learn that Disney takes such care of peoples history and man did it sound awesome in the movie.. I just wonder why they decided to record this masterpiece in a Christian church :/
