5 Minute Vanilla Cake ( Birthday Cake) :
- 85 g ( 3/4 Stick ) Softened Butter
- 90 g (1/2 cup) Sugar
- 65 g (1/4 cup) room temp Yogurt
- 180 g (3/4 cup) room temp Milk
- 160 g ( 1 cup + 2 tbsp) All Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- Good pinch of salt
PLEASE READ : Remember cooking time will vary depending on your microwave and size/material of your bowl/container. For an 8 or 9 inch container check the cake after 5 min, if the cake isn't ready leave it a bit longer making sure to keep an eye on it. The cooking time can vary between 5 and 8 minutes. Use a microwave safe bowl. If you're using buttercream frosting DO NOT refrigerate this cake!
Frosting:
You can use any frosting of your choice. I made a simple buttercream frosting:
Ingredients for the Buttercream:
- 170 g (1 1/2 sticks) Softened Butter
- 175 g ( 1 1/2 cups) Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp pure Vanilla Extract
- Splash of Milk ( or heavy cream) for a looser frosting
- pinch of salt
- Sprinkles

@@sandra-yc4xi It did actually turn out pretty good in the microwave! I'm no too sure if there's a way to make it in the oven though, but I think if you made it in the oven, you'd have to check on it quite a bit to make sure it doesn't over cook.

I made the cake yesterday, it really was as easy and came out exactly as Emma's all soft and fluffy. But remember that it does not taste exactly like it was baked in the oven. There is a clear difference. However it's totally worth making it if you also use the buttercream frosting as the frosting will help hide the taste difference and make it a clear winner. Thanks Emma!

Just baked this as my baby’s smash cake for her birthday today. I cut it into half to make 2 layers and it’s half moon shaped😀I trimmed bits of it and tried some It’s soooo delicious. Fluffy and moist. For the main cake I made your Red velvet cake and pink velvet cake from another recipe. Thank you so much Emma!

I made this tonight and it turned out pretty good. I used a 9 inch silicone cake pan so it was pretty thin. But 5 mins was just the right amount of time and it was moist and tender. I made a quick buttercream to put on top. I think next time I'll try a red velvet version!

Just a tip: put frozen butter in the microwave for ~15-30 seconds (depending on the amount), leave it in the microwave for 15 minutes and it should be soft by then!!

This is such an amazing recipe. My daughter has a really hard time gaining weight and she’s a crazy picky eater. She has to eat like 6 meals a day so this is an easy addition!
