Hi Doctor Cliff: Love your videos. I know cic hearing aides aren't as good as behind the ear for noisy environments but which of these would be best for that? How well does the Lyric perform compared to the other 3 on this video? It seems to me that the Lyric is so small and imbedded so deep that it would not perform as well as the other 3. Thanks

Hi Cliff, you are the best CZcams hearing aid reviewer by far! I only regret that I don't live in Phoenix so I could become a patient! I've recently taken a part-time job at Bass Pro Sports in the Marine Department selling boats and ATVs. The problem I'm having is that they want me to wear a communications radio and I currently wear RIC aids (Phonak Paradise 50s). Can I get by with one of the new SONY C 10s to replace my RIC and then wear the earpiece? I'm seeing an audiologist next Friday, and I'm hoping to get by with just one CIC hopefully in my right ear, and keeping the RIC Phonak in my left ear. Would love your opinion if this is a durable solution! Congratulations on hitting 300 K subs!

Enjoyed your 2023 rendition as well. As I previously mentioned, I have been a Lyric subscribed for 5 years and LOVE them! However, they are VERY sensitive to moisture, so I CANNOT shower with them in my ears, having to remove them each time I shower. Although I have become somewhat adept at removing them and reinserting them after showering, I am unable to insert them with the same skill and precision as my audiologist does, making them less effective. Also, since the subscription price has risen from $3000 to $3600 per year, I'm now compelled to look for a comparable IIC that I can purchase rather that a subscription, preferably with rechargable batteries but replacement batteries would also be ok. Both the Oticon and Phonk Virto sound like logical alternative choices. Which of the two would you recommend to replace my Lyrics? Also, could you give me an idea of costs, or at least cost ranges? Thanks for your informative and entertaining videos!

I just saw an ad for something new and I'd like to get your opinion on that. Not sure if it's FDA approved or not because I can't get any information about that for this particular product. Its the SonoPro Tinnitus Ear Laser Therapy Ear Plug. It's supposed to use something called photo biostimulation which is a type of low level laser therapy treatment that supposed to alter your brain chemistry by decreasing your perception of Tinnitus. The ad was also saying that the source of tinnitus is in the cochlea. I'm not sure any of this information is true or if something like this would actually work. I supposed to stimulate the small hairs that are inside of the ear canal and reduce inflammation and in some way reduce your tinnitus. Have you heard of this particular product and do you know if something like this would actually work? Or could something like this be a waste of money or could it actually be harmful? My tinnitus is only in one ear and it is caused by a tumor called an acoustic neuroma. So I'm wondering if this type of a product would work for anyone and also if it would work for me. It was advertised on Facebook. I figured I would ask you since you are an audiologist and maybe you know something about something like this.

I have just got the Evolv AI IIC from starkey, the 2000 I believe (the causual technology level).. i have a moderate hearing loss.. I switched out from the phonak lyric because the lyric ones didn’t work out for me for a couple different reasons.. 1) they really bothered me with the moisture feeling and the soreness.. and they also kept dying and i had to keep getting them replaced almost weekly or every 2 weeks.. my ent also said they weren’t so good for my ears because it can be bad if moisture gets trapped in them so I switched to the others and i find that the hearing aids work suupperr well, and really help me hear, although i keep getting a static quality a lot and getting quite a lot of feedback with them.. especially when it comes to singing.. i only just got them the other day so I’m seeing how they hold up and when i see my audiologist back in a couple weeks im sure he’ll be able to fix that, although do you have any ideas in the meantime?

Cam, I'm so sorry for your hearing loss.
My Dad needed hearing aids in middle age after being in the artillery in WW II.
I have hearing loss due to a hereditary condition. I had fit issues and other aids were too big, so I used the Lyric for years. It's fabulous because the experience is closest to not wearing a hearing aid, but it's also expensive.
However, the cost included having my audiologist examine my ear every two months when they replaced the Lyric and test my hearing annually, which is safer and saved money.
Also, there are no battery, tool, or replacement part costs. If it stops working they replace it at no charge, and it's not vulnerable to being damaged or lost like a hearing aid you take out.
I perspire a lot, enjoy outdoor sports in all weather, and bathe and occasionally swim with no damage. I broke a prior hearing aid by going in water up to my ankles and having a freak wave splash into my ear, so I'm pretty sure I'd break a different hearing aid before wearing it out.
The Eargo 6 is discrete and cheaper, but they come as a pair and I only need one. It can be found cheaper if resold, but then you don't get support or a single warranty replacement for low cost, and I'm concerned about breaking or losing it. It requires at least $160 in replacement filters and ear tips per year, and requires daily cleaning. It is water-resistant, but should be removed before showering, etc. It is rechargable, and the non-replaceable battery lasts roughly 2 years.
I hope these thoughts are helpful.

Invisible? Show me Invisible glasses. There is NO SHAME on wearing hearing aids. Please people, stop the stigma. It's ridiculous & no one should feel shame on wearing hearing aids. It's to help us hear. We don't need to impress anyone by hiding our devices. We need to be proud wearing them. It's a paradox. People are not ashamed for people to see their ear buds in their ears. why should a hearing aid make a difference? I have been wearing hearing aids all my life. I could care less if anyone sees them in my ear. I am not trying to impress, just helping myself hear better.

      Orrrrrrrrrrrr
      Maybe.
      Just maybe.
We don't want to display our disability to the world. It aint their business- and dealing with reactions is tiring.

@@outerheaven2k7 When I was got my first hearing aid at 14, I did not want people to know of my disability especially since I would get bullied or made fun of by my peers which discouraged me for wearing my hearing aid in school.

@@John_Alter I totally understand. And that is why we need to stop the stigma. People with disabilities did not choose this

@@outerheaven2k7 I understand. You are a beautiful person who is not defined by others. Hold your head up high. People need to learn to respect others.

Contacts. Contacts are the invisible glasses, haha. I don’t disagree with you that it shouldn’t be shameful to wear hearing aids but I do think it’s nice to have both visible and invisible options available.
