ALEPPO, SYRIA (What's It Like To Be A Tourist In 2023?)

- Travelling to Aleppo, Syria was a travel experience we will never forget. For so many reasons, traveling here has been one of the most intense, and humbling experiences we've ever had. Visiting only one month after the earthquake of February 2023, we saw a city in recovery, yet again. Life here and the people of this city here have been through so much. But the spirit of this unique place in an even more unique country shines through, even to as an independent, foreign traveller s and passers through like us. Travel in Aleppo isn't for the faint hearted but is so rewarding. We really hope the soul of this incredible place shines through in this video. This is what it's like to be a tourist in 2023.

Am I the only one crying while we watch. What a beautiful place and people. Wish them the very best and most of all peace to all. Thank you for this
Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
@ropolito1980 No you aren't as it reminded me of the last flower seller of Aleppo; czcams.com/video/lJGp3g93h6M/video.html@
As a Syrian who now lives in the US. I can speak for all of us and say thank you!
yes you are the only one
You’re not the only one...
as a Syrian from Aleppo I just wanted to thank you for sharing the beauty of home town ❤
Im praying for Assads people right now. i am an evangelical from the u.s. and hillary started the war in syria not Assad. hillary started the war in ukraine not Putin.
Assad doesn’t deserve to serve as the leader of the Syrian people
@@user-xy4hu9np3ryou are wrong.. Bashar was never supposed to be a president. His brother was going to take the throne, but he died in a car accident. Bashar was the youngest and never had any training. When his father became president after the coupe, he allowed mass torture and extortion. Bashar never changed it.. he didn’t bother to change anything.. it caused pain and extreme poverty.. he also doesn’t know when to quit.. he is a dictator and he has blood on his hands by allowing the military to slaughter hundreds of thousands of armed and mostly unarmed men and children. I don’t know if you knew that, but what you said really hurt. Unless Bashar gives up his power, Syria will never be Syria again.. his brother sells drugs to keep the empire in tact.
I want to know, can someone enter idlib city. I am from India but I want to meet my friend who lives in idlib
@@motivationofkidswithsafura823 no it's not safe not now there's Islamic Factions You could be exposed to engaging in armed action you have to be careful stay safe please
My father is from Aleppo. We would go there every summer up until the war started in 2012. I would recommend anyone go. It’s a beautiful city with beautiful people.
برای مردم و کشور سوریه آرزوی آبادی و خوشبختی دارم 🇮🇷 ❤ 🇸🇾
You made me cry after leaving my home city Aleppo 4 years ago and seeing this video..i hope you share to the world how Syria is a nice country and the people are so friendly ..
Do you think it would be better if Islamic groups would keep control or the current government?
Just curious to know your opinion. And maybe mention your background/ religion
Where are you now?
This is a country that has become synonymous with "pain" and "terrorists" in recent years. But is she really like that? And by the way, Syrians are so much like us. I also made a short video about Syria. I would be grateful if you would express your opinion about him.
I was a tourist in Aleppo in 2008: it was wonderful. I even had a drink in the Baron Hotel. Aleppo is ancient and it is a survivor. The greatness of the past will return. I have discovered your channel only recently and really appreciate your videos. Thank you for this one.
I had a couple of Syrian friends that really wanted me to visit their elders when the wars died down. And after watching this I’m so upset I never did get to meet them. Both my friends returned to Syria to try and persuade their family to leave, and they got bombed on their second night back. Both families wiped out.
What a resilient people. And give me great hope for the people of Ukraine.
It's so sad to see a people endure so much suffering that to see them so welcoming at this time of their lives, says it all about how beautiful they are. We hope that peace and happiness
can bring them good fortune in the future. The Syrians are a resilient people. Matt and Julia , you have captured that spirit in this video so well. Thank you for all the good work you do.
Love you guys dearly ❤❤ Be Well dear friends from Harriet, Jim and Yuki Richmond, Va.
Thank you so much guys! Lots of love to you, really hope you are well ❤️🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️

I’m an immigration paralegal and work with resettling Syrian refugees also. The Syrian people have stolen my heart💘They are some of the most beautiful, kind, and generous people on earth! They are such an inspiration to me that I want to go back to school and become a lawyer to be able to better serve them. It is the least I can do to give back to them after all the kindness they’ve shown me.
I’m so glad you are showing the real face of this battered country. They deserve this recognition, and they deserve peace. Thank you❤
So glad we can share it 🙏🏼❤️ Thank you for the important work you are doing ❤️
Hello I could use your help. I do have some questions too. Do you have a email address or contact information? I would appreciate your time 🙏 I’m based in the U.S. but I have friends in Syria I’m trying to help
I cry evertime i watch what hillary did to Assads syria. and have you noticed everytime the leftist invade a country england, america, canada end up with a great migrant invasion. but its not the good muslims its hillarys arab spring. and its done for the vote. leftist should be charged with war crimes, including you.
We honoured to stolen your heart Sir thanks for your compliments ❤️❤️

What a beautiful people and country
I have pictures from 2007 when I was there in Aleppo. I´m shocked. It is heartbreaking.
My heart tugged at the level of destruction and turmoil the people of Aleppo had to endure. Yet they are so friendly, graceful, smiling and happy in the face of such adversity. Glad they are rebuilding. Just a touching episode you guys.
I am from Syria, specifically from Aleppo.... Thank you for this video, which reflects a positive overview of my city
برای شما و مردم سوریه آرزوی خوشبختی دارم . 🇮🇷❤🇸🇾
it depends the side you are in, I mean: it depends what kind of syrian you are
The Syrians are wonderful, kind people! Peace and recovery to them!
Including Assad?
@@rogermonk8795 What's wrong with Assad?
@@rogermonk8795 You must answer for the killings in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Yugoslavia, Syria, Libya and many more! Including for the provocations of the war in Ukraine! Your fascist USA is to blame for the deaths of tens of millions on earth! Directly or indirectly!
They really are 🙏🏼❤️
if they dont rape
Sad, yet also beautiful. This is a testament to the strength of spirit within the Syrian people. Thank you for including Aleppo in your Syrian travels. Your videos are amazing and touching. Again, thank you!
Thank you so much for your support 🙏🏼❤️
it is complex. Syrian people is divided, and politics are very strange and - bad.
This is an ode to the stupidity of war and fighting and greed and ... evil. As always you are showing us the humanity of people around the world. How I wish we'd had cell phones and internet in 1976 when we visited Yemen: Sana, Taiz, Aden at a period just 2 years after overthrowing a dictatorship. Can't imagine the destruction there today; perhaps like Aleppo. You are intrepid travelers and young and smart and so kind to share your adventures. I think/hope all your followers will be humbled by this clip. Thank you, merci. Linda in France.
Thank you so much Linda, really appreciate your support! ❤️ Can’t begin to imagine how interesting it must have been to see Yemen at that time 🙌🏼
All love and support to Syria from Iraq, against ISIS and Israel 🇮🇶❤🇸🇾
Lovely video! I enjoyed watching this so much. Syrians are incredibly lovely people. Being Mediterranean and speaking Maltese (which funnily enough, many Syrians understand) I very much relate to the warmth of the locals and the food! Would love to visit. When I saw that lovely indoor suq I was about to cry. I'm so glad it's being restored to its former glory!
It is heartbreaking to see the destruction caused by human conflict. Thank you for this video for showing us the there is still life in Aleppo 🇸🇾. That life must go on despite war and earthquake. To the people of Syria, thank you for your showing us your resilience, your faith, your love for your country and your smile. Kudos to you Matt and Julia for this wonderful and interesting video.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it 🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Hey Matt,
Glad you visited my country. It’s shame that the country isn’t in the best shape yet due to obvious reasons. War and quake did destroy structures and buildings but souls of the Syrians are still pumping with life love and peace.
Watching your amazing videos here in London. ❤

Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
*ALEPPO,* Magnificent Desolation. Among the ruins from War and Earthquake this once beautiful city is still beautiful, thriving with the human spirit, people of Aleppo refusing to let her go.
Couldn’t agree more 😍❤️❤️❤️
It speaks volumes about the pride of a culture and community to keep smiling and being generous despite two destructive events in a row.
Couldn’t agree more! ❤️
I visited Aleppo about 30 years ago, even went to the Baron Hotel. Interesting to see what it is like now.
Glad we could share it with you ❤️🙏🏼
Thank you so much for showing and telling your story about Aleppo, Syria.... their strife and most definitely their hope.
So glad you enjoyed it ❤️🙏🏼
Thank you for posting these, had me crying the whole time! My mother was born in Syria and I got to live there for a few years as a kid and will never forget how beautiful it was and this really reminded me so much of how amazing it was, think it’s time I go back and visit
Once again thanks for taking us on the journey - stay safe :)

Amazing, guys. You travel and interact so seamlessly and with such compassion in a place so stricken with hardship. And as Julia said at the end leave us with a sense of hope for the strong and brave people you encountered in Syria. Inspiring.💕
Thank you so much Steve! ❤️🙏🏼

Thank you so much 🥰❤️
Thank you for all your videos. I head out for full time travel in 2024 as a solo. Your experiences have expanded my plans to go places I would not have considered.
Wow! We are so glad we could help you with this! Have an incredible time! ❤️🙏🏼
When I watch this (and other parts of the world) and see the senseless war followed by an earthquake I feel beyond sad and yet very fortunate that I’m ‘safe’ in the U.K. I could quite as easily have been born in Aleppo. The people have experienced such loss and trauma yet they are rebuilding their lives and city and I am in awe of their strength.
I would love to see a future where war whatever the cause, comes to an end and together we all tackle the very real problems we have on this beautiful but fragile planet Earth 🙏🏻
Julia and Matt I think you’ve found your calling, the last vlogs are so informative and show us how things are from a different perspective entirely. You’re both so humble, polite, genuinely interested in the places and people. You’re just the right mixture of friendly and humble and you’ve really produced a super ‘docu-series’ and I congratulate you both!!! Excellent content! You’re also brave, expect your parents were relieved to know you are safe.
I think the people of every country are wonderfully friendly and it’s just the ‘few’ and Governments that are causing such unrest leading to such travesty.
Thanks guys, really, really enjoyed this, I watched 3 times and feel very moved.

It takes almost a supernatural sensitivity to understand and humbly reveal the tremendous well of love that the Syrian people embody. I feel the respect throughout this video and can truly understand why you are so welcomed. Your appreciation for the history and the bonds of the people you meet bring us all together and bring love forth. I feel this work has chosen you as much as you have chosen it, and as a viewer I feel blessed to be at your side.
So well put!
Thank you so much for this beautiful comment Andrea! It honestly made me well up! 🥲🙏🏼❤️
Lovely people and so friendly -- nice to see so much of Syria
So glad we could share it Arthur 🙏🏼❤️
I cry watching this video about the destruction and the resilience of the Syrian people. Thank you so much for the amazing video.
Wonderful video❤ Aleppo is amazing and its people resilient! The hospitality of Middle Easterners is unmatched and their kindness leaves a lifelong impression, making you homesick for a region that has never actually been your home. I too shared the same opinion as you when visiting Aleppo in August 2022: the western world sees Syria in a negative light so I focused primarily on the positives when sharing details of my trip. God bless Syria and may it one day return to its former glory.
I am in Syria now (Damascus) and it's super sad ,I love people who shares things waht Can be better
Incredible, your storytelling and videography have reached an amazing level, I fully support the way that you have changed the channel, your emphasis on quality has to my mind moved on from simple travel blogging, and has evolved into the realms of professional journalism. To me, this video would be worthy of any TV news channel. Your videos have always been entertaining, informative and intelligent. But honestly, you are reaching new levels now, and I for one ate proud to think that I can accompany you on this journey.
It honestly means the world to have you along with us, thank you so much for your support!! 🥲🙏🏼❤️
Unimaginable what has happened to the people in Syria. Their spirit is amazing!
It is a spirit like no other 🙏🏼❤️
It was an amazing video about my city aleppo ❤❤❤❤
love your vids.. this is really your best. the human element is centerpiece in a region that is so troubled.
The people are so kind and friendly!
Thank you for making these beautiful videos of my home ❤
Thank you so much for watching 🙏🏼❤️
I have Syrian friends and their resilience and ability to smile despite dark pasts is exemplary and inspiring. Thanks for making this vlog. I had tears seeing the demolished souq, but then seeing them rebuilding it made me smile.
I will never forget the photo of Omran sitting in an ambulance. That was the first time I knew of Aleppo. The more I learned the more heartbreaking this place is. It is amazing to see what has survived the war and earthquake (like the tower at the Armenian cathedral) The spirit of the people of Aleppo is wonderful. I always love it when the children want to meet you and are smiling. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for coming along with us ❤️🙏🏼
so youre easily fooled by propaganda
I am so impressed you could make these videos and honestly emotionally I would not be able to walk through all these ruins and pain. Even though the people are so strong and the real gems there. Such videos are important but leave me also in an emotional unrest. Thank you, all take good care. Regards Kate

So very sad to see how civil war took its toll then an earthquake. On the other hand you’re giving us a look into a country most of us will never see. It’s a view of reality not of polished Main Stream media gives us.

Pretty sure they have a government minder with them on this tour and unless this has changed recently all tourists must have a government approved guide which will provide a very biased view.

@MATT&JULIA, Dear all,CZcamsrs, bloggers, you notice that every place in the Middle East or anywhere in the world there is no hate between local communities ( great example the Armenian lady hotel owner). By the influence of Western governments everywhere is demolished and top of that natural disaster. Fortunately still locals are not forgot to warm welcome & smile. Still everyday western countries busy with damage.it’s my humble request to all when you visit any countries please find out and share the role of your home country (positive role or negative?). So viewers can understand the master mind of current situation’s (Also you can raise your voice). Thanks
Tremendous! What a strength these people have, I hope the worst is over and everything gets better from now on for them. Hopefully one day I can visit that land! I see that Julia is not going to be a competitor for Itchy Boots! haha Love from Buenos Aires
Hahaha, I need to buy a faaar smaller bike if so 🤣 Thank you so much Alejandro, love to you from both of us! 🥰❤️
Amazing!
Awesome video! a volatile area risk is high ....you have courage no doubt..;-)
Thank you both , for showing us a place, most can only dream of visiting, a beautiful city, unfortunately made to look bad, by the unfortunate destruction caused by Mother Nature, a city steeped in history and love for mankind, a city with beautiful people and more history than most could imagine, so thanks again, as always, enjoy your travels, and have fun xx
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼❤️
Made to look bad by mother nature? Are we just discounting the civil war. A very large portion of the destruction shown was purely due to war and mostly from Assad bombing his own people.
These people are extremely resilient. Beautiful to see.
❤️❤️❤️
There was a Syrian chef on live uk TV today. Food looks amazing xx
Ohhhh it’s too good, honestly one of our favourites! ❤️
Very informative video. Love it..
Thank you so much! ❤️🙏🏼
I am more positive. I am glad to see a new Aleppo coming out. It was really sad not too long ago. Today we see life, smiles, children, dedication. Thank you for showing me that. I am in Brazil. Small web world.
Lots of love to beautiful Brazil 🙏🏼❤️
This is Idlib, not Aleppo.
My country is beautiful, how much I miss Aleppo😢😢
Only six minutes in and I am getting actually angry irl, to think that everyone refused to lft the sanctions on Syria after the earthquake so these people were not even able to receive humanitarian help like Turkey did. 😤 And that on top of the “cuvil war” caused by foreign powers that meddled and are still meddling into Syria.
The people of Syria deserve better.
🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
How can you not blame Assad first? He has blocked aid to the region heavily affected by earthquake. Syria for around a decade and has continued bombing the region. Civil war started due to foreign intervention. The civil war started because of the Arab spring. Population started protesting and Assad started killing. The majority of the destruction there is due to bombing and the civil war hasn’t actually ended.
@@amyseaden9069 I’m sure that the poor men, women and children who died in the earthquake or needed humanitarian aid appreciate your political discourse. Cause that’s important when your house turned into rubble and you don’t even have some clean water to drink or some food or a basic medkit. Empathy at its finest.
@@minime7375 Assad has prevented aid to the region the most affected by the earthquake. How can politics not be involved in the discussion? czcams.com/video/D4uv6B4xCuU/video.htmlsi=TveTVqE29sfufpa3

What an incredible video, I already miss Aleppo (visited the city 4 times in 2021, 2022 and 2023). I have one question though, how did you get a drone permission? I asked around and they said that it was hard to obtain it (without bribing).
If they don't reply, that means bribe.
