As a suns fan knowing that Scott Foster reffed Game 3 of the 21 finals where the suns could have swept if we won but the series was completely changed by that loss. It fucking sucks. The league needs to do an investigation and potentially suspend Foster.

Amazing to watch this car crash in slow motion, in the twilight of his career he has been gifted so many opportunities to finally get over the line and it looks like he's gonna choke it up yet again. You have to factor in the mental state of a player and I can relate. As a private person (as were a lot of my team mates over the year) I am measured, calm and avoid confrontation. In a game situation my personality change Jekyll and Hyde style. And a lot of the guys I know, particulary the competetive ones are the same. For that reason the ref has to manage that, in particular when it comes to professional sport. He cannot engage in such a conversation and pushing a player's button. Yes, it looks like the player has a choice but it is really the ref who controls the situation. And that was some devious shit.

It's complicated, I agree. I mostly dealt with officials from a player perspective so I am lacking the full view. The few games I "officiated" at a youth level (only friendlies, I don't have a licence as a referee) were amazingly difficult. It is one thing to sit on a bench as a coach or player or be in the game and seeing details that the referee is missing and working the game as a ref. But we are talking about NBA referees, professionals with tons of experience, who a part of delivering an entertainment product. My issue with refs like this one is how easily he could avoid the escalation . Basically don't talk to a player you have a history with, don't engage in a discussion. Which he clearly did and I suppose, intentionally, knowing that he can get a player to eventually say things you can T him up for. And then going on a rampage, tossing players, T'ing up the coach and basically deciding the outcome of the game. Again, these are professionals and that should never happen. Having said that CP can be a complete dick. @@EFFamily

I think the technical fouls on CP3 might have not been too out of pocket. That conversation was going on for way too long before the first one even happened and CP3 looked like he was leaning into it too much so that's getting away with a lot. Then to keep jawing after, I'm sure Scott Foster said "this conversation is done" -- yeah, at that point you've stated your issue but it cannot be litigated during the game and CP3 needed to move on.
