I love how RT only does a character voice for toad. Even the wildest monsters talk like a calm irish father, but the mushroom-people need to scream every word.

Bowser really gets done dirty in this game. He immediately lends the Mushroom Kingdom his aid when they are attacked, then gets blown up, gets amnesia, gets posessed, and then taken prisoner by the beans and presented to Princess Peach as a goodwill gift. Shows him for trying to help a neighboring kingdom in their time of need!
He gets a redemption in inside story
Do you forget the part where he was litterally helping only so he could kidnap peach after she got her voice back?
They also just let him to die with Koopa kids.

I never realized how strange it is that the protector of the Beanbean Kingdom can only be awakened.. by the voice of the neighboring kingdom’s monarch. That’s like if the British Military could only be commanded by the President of the United States.
...I mean, the UK military absolutely can be commanded by the US President. Like, I don't know if you're old enough to remember the beginning of the Second Gulf War, but that was absolutely a thing that happened.
@@lachlanmcgowan5712 I feel like the exclusivity of the neighbouring kingdom's command was more the concern of the original commentor.
I mean it technically worked effectively, as it forced them to make enemies of two kingdoms rather than one, and additionally provoked the Mario bros. If all the required components had been within the Beanbean kingdom, they would have won easily
To be fair, if you wanted to keep the power of said guardian from falling into the wrong hands, making a partnership with your neighbor kingdom so anyone trying to get to it would have to go screw with said kingdom is pretty smart. Once word gets out that someone stole the current monarch’s voice, this would let both kingdoms know something is up and take action.

Luigi made me realize how much I like the idea of a sidekick or partner of the main character always doing random stuff in the background while the other characters talk.
Like Batman and Commissioner Gordon are discussing how the placing of the stab wounds tie back to the Riddler’s scheme while Robin is just kicking the body to see if it wakes up lol.

I really appreciate RT putting a Toad Voice warning before it happens. It's a little thing, but it really makes his videos more accessible to those who are Toad adverse or are suffering from Toad-Related-Truama (TRT). This act alone puts RT far beyond most content creators. So, as chairman of the Allied Council Against Toads (ACAT), I want to give RT thanks on the behalf of everyone currently apart of ACAT. I love that game so much! The music and graphics make me so nostalgic when I see them. I unfortunately lost my old copy but I still remember playing it on the bus as a kid.
The only one I ever played was Partners in Time. It was fun.
Dan finding new ways to make Joke's End even more unbearable is terrifying yet not surprising.
Also that metal pipe jumpscare left me in tears from laughing. Crowning moment of the playthrough for sure

Apparently Mario's supposed to be in his mid-to-late 20's. If that's suddenly middle-aged, I've got some reevaluating to do.
Despite its strong currency, the Beanbean kingdom has an abysmal life expectancy, mainly due to constant war, prevalent disease, and high rates of poverty.
I love the idea of Mario looking like he's been scared to the point of nearly having a heart attack on his passport, meanwhile Luigi, the brother who is most commonly seen as being the more easily scared one, is completely calm.

Did not mean to almost give RT a heart attack with the metal pipe but it was hilarious. I loved the whole playthrough of Superstar Saga since it was one of my favorite games as a kid. I highly recommend watching the vods to get the whole experience!
THIS GAME IS THE DEFINITION OF NOSTALGIA FOR ME. The amount of long car rides I had as a kid playing this on my gameboy in the backseat. Thank you for the memories.
SAME! I traded it in at a gamestop, then a year later bought it again because I loved it so much and missed it. Finished it IDK how many times~

God I could *never* beat Cackletta's final form as a kid. Man having a rewind feature sounds amazing.
even with insanely high stats and near-invincibility i got a gameover on it, easily the hardest fight in the game
I am convinced that every time a Mario and Luigi game was being made, there was one guy who would sneak in day before launch and change the script so every character has a line dissing Luigi in some way
I love how Luig fails once and Mario is like : alright you go on a suicide mission now.
Man I remember playing this game as a kid as well as Bowser’s Inside Story. Watching this play though Live gave me so much nostalgia. What a great gameplay experience Dan.

OMG the Mario rpg games where my childhood I love them so much, the cackle the shroobs make from partners in time still haunts me to this day. Can’t wait to see if you play any of the other games
Not to mention Partners in Time has some real horror stuff like toads being consumed by trees and Peach getting a facehugger.
Y'think about it, of course the Mushroom Kingdom's currency is so worthless elsewhere. They have zero security aside from two middle-aged plumbers, their head of state is being constantly kidnapped, and their people *scream everything at such deafening level* no one wants to trade with them. And bear in mind, this is consistent across games, considering Yoshi Coins from Mario RPG are worth so much more than the Mushroom Kingdom variety.
This was the first game I ever got myself. My parents gave it to me for my first time on a plane because they didnt know how I whould react. I didnt speak english yet so this game is what I used to teach myself english. I have nothing but amazing memories about this game. God bless you for showing this to me again

I remember clearly playing Partners in Time many years ago and falling in love with it and still kept up with the series until the Bowser's Inside Story Remake. It's a real shame that AlphaDream became bankrupt and that we won't another Mario & Luigi game from them again.
I still hope we do get another new Mario & Luigi game in future even if it's done by another developer as a Switch game would be amazing to see. *The beans shall rise again even if it puts the Mushroom Kingdom into another economic crisis!*

Careful with your wishing. It might end up with the Nintendo's current guidelines for characters where you can't deviate from the mainline games. I heard that AlphaDream even ended up having beef with Nintendo over this in the mid 2010s.
Of course, the movie may make them reconsider, seeing as it made $876.4 million without taking the costs of making the movie into account ($100 million) which is about $11 million less than what New Super Mario Bros. U made on the Switch. Which of course, means there's money in being a bit lenient with the character designs.

Anyway, great seeing this game again - the whole series is brilliant. I agree with that other comment about Bowser's Inside Story being the best in this series.

I really appreciated the slowed down segment of the bean finding, so much so that i rewinded the video to watch it again! Great work with the content RT. Also always an entertaining segment whenever Dan and Cloe interact w/ each other on post-edits.

3 Mushroom coins per 10 Beanbean coins was the exchange rate in my run, as I intentionally ran away a lot for the Mushroom coins to rapidly depreciate in value during the hunt for the 4 mcguffins

I honestly really hope if he does more of the Mario RPGs he goes in order. The through line between the 4 good ones is really good. Also while not the best in the series I feel like Partners in Time builds excellent atmosphere.
Hell yeah. This is in my top 10 favorite games. I played the hell out of this game as a kid. I still do now from time to time. Such a fun game.

@@randoontheinternet5842 i don’t know about that. Dream team was able to have tons of new characters and ideas and it came out after paper Mario sticker star plus they introduced entirely new characters in the side mode of the bis remake.
@@bagelgod946 I think that’s because Nintendo let the M&L series keep doing original things but than stopped them during Paper Jam’s development, Even in Dream Team they were showing signs of restraint by making Bowser the final boss instead of Antasma

god i loved this game as a kid. when i was like 4-5 i had a gameboy and this came with it. it was too hard for me back then but i replayed it more recently and i loved every second of it

Fun fact about me and the bowser game in this style I actually got stuck on the carrot eating section yet still loved the game
(I played on DS and was going the stylus and didn't know how to hit the screen with enough speed without thinking I would damage it making it really difficult for a younger me )
I played the game a lot and maxed it out (at that point in the game and even played upto that point multiple times yet couldn't hit the screen fast enough to do one part of the game
i absolutely adore this game, so underated, so wonderful, the goofy characters, fighting mechanics, puzzle solving, it's great
