- Porsche Cayman 981 base exhaust sound changes after a K&N Air Filter upgrade and new Fabspeed Exhaust Tips.
The big change was from OEM to K&N filters. Deeper notes and quicker butt feel on acceleration. Fabspeed tips sounds add sharp edges to the sound and the krackle on rapid pedal release makes a big smile.
Mild interior exhaust notes in cabin are changed at about 2100 RPM but still investigating. Installation of tips takes about 2.5 man hours and I strongly recommend spreader clamp instead of brute force and pry bars. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
While you're at it....fix that PORSCHE emblem on the back.... yikes
in a year since you've had them, how does the finish look on the carbon fiber? any fading or yellowing?
I didn't like the appearance of the single square tip of my 981 Boxster Base and tried to change to something else like the Fabspeed tip. But I just realized I really like the higher frequency stock exhaust notes. So I decided to keep the original ugly square tip... Thanks a lot! Lol
how easy was it to replace the std pipe with the Fabspeed one?
Looks a awful lot like Arizona. Could you tella difference with the K&N Filters over the OEM?
how was the installation of the air filters? and were they the suncoast ones?
Yes or you can just go on amazon.com
Did you find replacing the air filters difficult?
there are some great videos on it . More of a pain in the a--. Need to get plastic upholstery tools to get plastic parts to free up. DON'T LOSE the plastic clips
Did the exhaust tip make a difference ?
It barks a little bit more
You feel the difference with the k&n air filter ?
Yoann S feels quicker in lower RPM
Do you have the factory sport exhaust?
Thomas Chung it is standard
no. standard
Hello i just got the cayman same as yours is it hard to install those tips ? Thank you
Jefferson there is CZcams video on how to replace it. STRONGLY recommend a “spreader” to separate each side so you can put the tips on. If you have that, super easy
make sure you unscrew ALL the bolts under the back chassis. Have a buddy help as you will need to spread it with some sort of lever (I used a 2x4 vs correct tool)
makes no difference
its in yr mind
These tips don’t do anything. They would have to be father back in the exhaust to really change any pitch at all since the scavenger pulses only travel like 2”. Porsche would have out these in there if they did anything. Remember they have a 10 million dollar sound tuning facility where they test only sound and pitch. Waste of $600. Plus a muffler shop can make those same tips for $50.
Complete waste of time and money.
Says the person who's likely never even sat in a Porsche.
Bloody stupid comment
I agree
